  • Does Computer Alliance price jack when the good ol' 20% discounts come around?

  • Wow. I am holding myself to don't make this sin. Haha
    How much for your vega56?

    • Just dooo it!
Im not selling it, its going in my streaming pc for a few more capabilities

      • Fair enough. Nah I cannot hahhahahaha let's wait.

        • +3

          Hahahahahaha buy it already hahahaha

          Haha

          • @HKS: All your base are belong to us. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha?

This is a good price, but as someone who just purchased a RX 5700 XT and will be returning it, the drivers are immature and there are a LOT of issues. It didn't matter which driver version I installed (always after running DDU, and finally out of desperation, a clean install of Windows 10). It's concerning that AMD thought this was acceptable. Finally, the reference cooler is absolutely terrible. It's not as loud as the RX Vega, but the temperature is 96c+ constantly.

I can't say anything for the drivers, but the temps aren't an issue as they are well in spec, they wouldn't release the cards with a 3 year warranty if it were harmful

Thanks for the feedback. I think holding out till November will be better for the wallet and allow the drivers to settle a little more.

    • I got issues with AMD drivers when I installed Windows 1903, for whatever reason, AMD drivers + 1903 is causing a lot of problems for people out there. AMD and Microsoft really should resolve this, I'm using old AMD drivers that don't seem to be affected.

My Vega 56 is utilising 19.5.2 with no issues, but so many of the newer ones I've tried cause problems. I'll wait till the new WHQL driver.

I know you gave an answer by 5700 owners report luck with 19.7.5.

I had no driver issues myself on Windows 1803. Having no SSD space for the 1903 upgrade to complete mustn't be such a bad thing then it seems.

I just got one, I can't justify spending $100 dollars or more for the same performance albeit a bit cooler and quieter, with a custom card. I am happy just to under volt and possibly do the Gamers Nexus washers and thermal paste mod.

    • Any driver issues?

      • Sorry I meant that I purchased it with this deal. Hopefully the driver issues will be fixed soon.

      • I just got my 5700 xt from an ebay deal last week. So far no issues at all on 19.9.1. Played a lot of Magic Arena and Path of Exile over the weekend. Only thing I did was disable hardware acceleration in firefox and chrome.

  • Really tempted this time, I gotta make the break from PS4 Pro.

Take my hand and ascend to the master race brother. Gaben will show us the way!

      • I don't see $2k in your hand? :P

How well will a 5700XT run something like Assetto Corsa Competetzione or iRacing, will it be good enough for triple screens at a high setting? I see this one has sold out now but I'm seeing this model on sale a lot right now.

        • +1

Yes, depending on the screen resolutions of your triple monitor setup. 3x 1080p no problem full graphics and will be smooth, 3x 1440p and you may need to lower the graphics a little bit on some titles to keep 60 frames.

        • Have you looked into Ultra Wides? That might be a better solution.

          • @Known: You know I was actually considering them. It would save in gpu power. Probably be able to run 4k on high with the same setup

  • Really would have rather bought from Computer Alliance, but I bought one of these deals last week. If you're in the Brisbane area, they are a really great store!

  • I can't decide between this, Sapphire or Gigabyte AIB RX5700 XT (roughly $130 more) or Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Windforce ($200 more)

    • +1

Will it really affect you financially if you spend 200 bucks extra?if not go for 2070s

  • I got the msi referrence version off computer alliance for $579 a few weeks ago.

It IS loud when you play games. It's noticeable if you have your pc close. Louder than my previous 1070gtx. Not massively loud but noticeable.

When not playing games and doing windows stuff its just the normal sound of your cpu etc.

Don't think i'd rather pay $100 more to get a custom one though.

Also the "Radeon" bright LED is annoying and you can't shut it off.

Drivers are a bit rubbish at the moment - a few problems mainly stutter in most games.

Playing around with it i'm not sure if it's amd or windows though. I just turned off Game Bar in windows and the record feature and its fixed the freesync problems in forza 4 horizon that i had.

I also have not undervolted it yet. So presuming when i do it will be a quieter too.

Still happy with it and it will only improve.

    • Definitely undervolt to help the noise - even Wattman auto undervolt will help. With the undervolt it was quiet enough for me using open back headphones. I had returned my reference card because of a physical defect and figured I might as well wait for partner cards, but they turned out to be overpriced and most of them need modding anyways, so I went reference again with this deal. When it arrives tomorrow I'll test undervolting again to see how lucky I was with the first one as it seemed to be a good chip with a good cooler mount.

  • Anyone know if this works (OCing 5700 to 5700XT)?

If so it makes the non-XT version a cracking deal at around $500
