    • Hopefully the seeds don't come in plastic!

I’m wondering who this targets. Surely anyone with an interest in gardening (or cooking) already has a few herb trays b the go?

I guess there may be some people out there who are interested in growing plants but have never bothered. But enough to make this a success? I’m not sure.

    • +8

It targets people who rather be given free stuff than to go out of their way to buy…

      • +3

        So…ozbargainers?!🤔

    • I cynically think that it's targeted at looking 'green' after giving away zero-use plastic ooshies.

      • The ooshies can be returned to woolies to be recycled into plastic benches.

        • At a significant energy cost.

From a plastic waste perspective, plastic recycling is good. From an energy consumption (and therefore carbon emissions) perspective, it’s worse than throwing them in the bin.

  • I spent $29 yesterday and usually ask for whatever freebie they are doing, but skipped the Ooshie thing, now feel bad didn't know and ask for this.

  • +3

Certainly a much better promo than the Ooshies!

I'd bet a house a complete failure in comparison to ooshies and can join Coles little shop 2 .

    • LS2 was hardly a failure.

  • Coles environment enemy no 1

  • +1

Does this apply at woolies metro?

    • Yes, but not sure if it can stack with 25% off scan and go promotion

  • So I presume you have to replant these collection onto actual soil right? If yes, why would you need collection case?

  • +1

Unpopular opinion: I'd rather just shop at Aldi and not have the cost of these "promotions" built into the price of the products.

    • +1

I just wish they had a better built site for me to check products.

Also the closest one to me I have driven past 2 Coles in vicinity and would also say a Woolies.

  • "Some customers have even received the seeding kit prior to the commencement of the promotion." Seems like they just knocked off some from the store promo displays!

Where's the guy that says this stuff is trash?

  • -8

this is so bad for the environment… what are these pots tags and containers made of? why dont you all think about the environment??? just more polution like the littleshops2 … btw… anyone got a toilet cleaner for the little shops 2.. still missing that one.

      According to the website:

      • The seed identifying label is made from cardboard.
      • The pot is made of plant fibres.
      • The soil pellet is made of coconut husk.
  • +1

Funny, they listened after the Lion King promo……

    • Maybe that's what shoppers believe but they had this lined up a year ago. They license all these promotions from third parties that have run them overseas for years. No doubt the next one has already been organised.

  • Awesome. Got a tomato planting pot tonight

  • -1

knowing my luck, i'll get #3… Coriander yuck

  • +3

We got 4 with our online grocery order today.

    Kale
    Cress
    Bok Choi
    Snapdragon

They are around the size of an egg carton cup, a little taller. The soil pellet is around the size of a 10c coin, but thicker. The seed paper has about 16 seeds on it. Instructions say to put the soil pellet on a plate and add 50ml water, mix it and watch it expand. Use most of the soil to fill up the pot and then put the paper flat on top and cover it with remaining soil. Place it in the light, keep it damp, and then a plant should grow and when that happens repot it.

Not sure if it matters but it says on the label they are imported by Woolworths, created by UNGA and were assembled in Poland from imported components. And everything in it has a best before date of 1/11/2020.

I was hoping for some lettuce ones because lettuce gets pricey sometimes. Not sure I'll use Bok Choi or Cress.

    • +2

Grab some lettuce seeds for $1
I’ve got lettuce is a few 20cm pots and it’s as much as we can eat for minimal effort.
Ie plant in good soil/compost - home grown would be free.
Water each morning while drinking coffee
When we remember we plant the next pot
Done. For 9 months very cheap lettuce

  • Is this promo available with online delivered orders?

EDIT: Yes online included. See point 6 -

  • This seems exactly the same as the kit which was given away free at Bunning during the recent Father's Day night. Just a different branding with Woolworths on it.

  • +1

Are you gong to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. I gave mine to a child standing next to me at the checkout

  • no stress no seeds no stems no sticks
Some of that real sticky icky icky?

  • +1

I'm gonna + this because it's not plastic shit that will end up in the bin. However I bet those twats go back to junk plastic ooshies next promo.

  • Shopped at Marion, SA store yesterday and was looking forward to my seedling kit with purchase, but was told they were out of stock and may not get any more in. Was wondering if other people have experienced this problem at their Woolworths store? Promotion still goes until the 22/10 so a little annoyed.
