  • hi there how do you know its the 2019 model and not the older one?

    • +3

The listing description shows the 2019 model box and also says in the tech specs this which matches to the new specs which indicates that it's the 2019 version:

System battery life - Battery life can last for more than nine hours, but will vary depending on the software and usage conditions. For example, The Legend of Zelda™: Breath of the Wild can be played for roughly 5.5 hours on a single charge.

    • Image from EB Games eBay description shows the Red Box, which is the 2019 model.

Could always call them to verify if it the new model, as it also listed on EB Games website

    • +1

I just clicked the link to see if I could answer your question, and the only thing I can see is that the picture of the box that they show in the description is the 2019 model box…. I don’t know if this guarantees it but it’s the best I could see on a quick glance.

  • good deal, thanks op

  • Is there a direct link? I seem to just get a search (mobile)

  • +2

Bit odd they dont do C+C so you have to pay for postage.

  • -4

When is the new model out?

    • +5

This is the new model, with the new soc and longer battery life. If you mean the lite version it will come out on 20 Sept.

      • -1

        Oh, thanks…

        • There is also the "Switch Lite" which cant be docked and the joycons are permenantly attached, thats out later this year but its made as a portable version and isn't quite the same (although both play all games)

          • -1

@Hellman109: I've seen that… Not interested. Thanks anyway.

  • Thanks op, ordered one.

  • Pretty good price. You could flog the game for $20+ on eBay.

  • This or the Switch Lite for $288… I already own the OG Switch so the Lite makes sense but the battery life in the new model is tempting.

    • +13

if you already own a switch then the sensible choice is neither

  • +1

I bought this at the original 469 price from EB and can confirm its the new 2019 model.
The game also had a $20 trade in value if anyone else was thinking of doing that.

  • -7

    NOPE $400 IS MARKET RETAIL.

If you buy at these insane prices, the prices will keep on rising.

    • +2

Sure mate, you don't buy it then.

    • Genuine question, why the price will rise if more people buying? I thought it's the other way around

      • If people buy at a rate that’s inflated compared to the rest of the market, this sends a message that there’s no need to reduce the pricing.

    • Market Retail is about $480 AUD…
The Nintendo Switch is $300 USD which is ~$436 pretax and about $480 when including GST.

      • I didn't say RRP, I said "market retail". Switch has been at $400 'normal street price' for a long time.

  • For any issues you can go to the local EB store right?

  • Good deal!
I bought one at $429 at BigW 10 days ago.
Is there any chance that I can return the BigW one?

    • if u havent opened it you can

      • Unfortunately I opened it since day 1. =(

        • Big W usually don't accept returns for opened products unless its faulty.

          • @Yuri Lowell: They might be more agreeable if you could be bothered ordering and then returning EB Games unopened one, to them.

Lot of dishonesty to save a couple bucks…

  • Sakurai Nintendo Live Stream: ahem switch smash players…pls try out Banjo Kazoie on the xbox. (Laughters at the background)

Lmao this must be the funniest news in Japan now.

  • You can tell the switch is pretty amazing when the price hasn't really dropped since launch.

I may as well stop waiting and get one now, lol

    • The Switch is amazing.
      But.
Nintendo NEVER drops price. Not due to demand, they just don't.
Look at current prices for Mario Kart DS - even preowned it's still $48, and it was released in 2005!

  • Bought one. Thanks OP.

  • -2

I’m curious are any guys familiar with the fairly easy hacking buying the newbie or still trying to find the certain serial #?

  • +1

Finally got one, thanks for posting!

    • +2

Got mine delivered today, 2019 model :)

      • I've been waiting for mine… it's not even posted out yet…

How long did yours take to arrive after ordering?

edit: never mind, it took 2 days, I'm dumb

  • +1

    Ordered. thanks

  • +3

tempting…would prefer it at around $350 with no crappy game though.

    • there are 10% off eBay gift cards on sale now, works out ~360, with 1 game and the cartridge…

      • Are they physical cards or digital?

        • digital, sent via email within a few hours

      • @fm365net My understanding was that eBay doesn't allow the use of eBay gift card in conjunction with a coupon code (which in this case would be PHIZZ15) at checkout - it's either one or the other, am I wrong? It didn't work for me the last time I tried to pay at checkout with an eBay gift card while also using a discount code. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I would love to know how to use both if it is possible?

        • Yes, an eBay promotional code can also be used when redeeming an eBay gift card, subject to the terms and conditions of the promotion.

according 2 ebay gift card tos

          • @Kostie: Thanks for the heads up but like many others in the UK ebay 10% thread cant get payment to work, paypal keeps failing…oh well not in a rush wait for the next deal.

          • -1

@Kostie: Not what I meant. I mean if I wanted to use an eBay gift card to pay for the item at checkout, I lose the ability to use the discount code as eBay only allow you to choose one or the other and not both. This is the reason why I don't like eBay gift cards as you're effectively having to buy 'full price' for the item anyway since you can't use a 10%/15%/20% discount code at the same time.

            • @merajaan: Why am I being negged for pointing this out? People should know that they lose out on the ability to use discount codes if they decide to purchase an item using ebay gift card.

              • @merajaan: I didn't neg you, but whenever I've bought Ebay giftcards, I've been able to redeem them and utilize and discount codes at the same time.

I'd hazard a guess that others have had the same opinion so are negging the information.

      • Really? Is it only for yesterday? I don't seem to see any 10% discount on eBay gift card…

  • I was tempted to buy, but the combination of potentially getting the old model, the shipping cost (lack of click and collect) and a pretty average game wasn't enough for me. Reasonable price but I know I'll see better.
    Another day, another switch deal…

    • +3

it's the new model man lol

      • -1

There's some ambiguity in the above comments. You're probably right, but it's just a contributing factor.

        • I just wanted to point out there is really just the first comment and the person just asked how do we know it's not the old model haha..but hey you are saving yourself $398.65

    • +5

You're essentially trying to convince yourself that waiting potentially months for a new deal to save a few bucks is somehow worth it when you could have gotten it now and not missed out on hours and hours of fun.

      • I'm just saying I can't justify it to myself at the moment, no big deal. There's a new switch deal every other week. I've waited a little while for the new model, I can wait a little longer for a more suitable deal. Not being critical or anything though. Good post from OP for sure.

        • +4

I'm not criticising you at all, I'm just saying sometimes waiting months to save a few bucks ends up being a big waste of time when you could be enjoying the product now.

  • Great price for the switch. Thank you.

  • I know a few other countries are doing some model swaps around the place letting you trade in the old for new.

Wouldn't have considered it before but after 16 hours in transit the other week (inc 6 hour layover) I was in struggle town to keep enough juice going into the switch, and I don't really want to have to carry a battery pack with me everywhere.

    • But you don't get stuck in transit for 16 hours that often do you

      • When travelling to New Caledonia every time! But still even on a 4 hour flight from Perth to Melb or Syd, plus transit at the airport you don't want to:
        - have to take an extra thing in your bag, especially when I try to fit it all in my backpack, or
        - have to be hooked up to a charger before I leave.

  • Anyone know what trade-in price JB HiFi would be offering for this craptastic bundle game? Somebody mentioned in the comments that ebgames offer $20 trade-in value so maybe JB will offer $30?

  • Got this, thanks. I hope to trade in the game for BotW, Binding of Isaac, or Hollow Knight.

  • "This code can't be applied to your order."
    Any ideas why? :(

    • Is your ebay account registered with a australian address?

      • Hmmm, I'm from oz, but i changed my delivery address to an australian address didn't work, but i found the option to buy as a guest - so i got it. =) thanks for the deal, I'm glad. Even if it will disturb my traveling. 😅

        • I had a mate from the states that had a registered ebay account of US and delivery to AUS and he got the same error.
Registered address and delivery address are two different things but glad you got it sorted.

  • Thanks OP bought one

  • +1

Anyone wondering about trade-in value for EB Games, I got $26.50 credit for the game with my level 2 EB card. JB HiFi don't have the game I t heir system so they would have to do the trade under a blanket no name title which is worth a pithy $12. So all in all pretty happy with the EB trade in value as I wouldn't have gotten much more on eBay once you take into account the fees and postage
