@jv, it is a bargain if you are going to tax agent to get your tax return filed.
Cheapest one available in market is $70 or more.
      So it is a bargain

      • -6

no it's not, you can file it online for FREE !!!

      • +1

what does the service include, just a basic one, or would it include share trading and property related matters? thanks!

    • +1

$XX to have a mechanic service my car is not a bargain…

      free is a bargain!!!

You see what I did there?

      • All they are doing is filling our the tax form, not doing your accounts…

        • +8

Oh, so you're not including depreciation of assets, fringe benefits claims, etc… Seriously, the price is decent for the services offered.

Just because I can service my car for free, doesn't mean everyone can, or wants to.

        • +2

Well yes, but some people are a bit thick and can't do that… So it's not that bad.

        • -3

Seriously, the price is decent for the services offered.

what is the actual service offered ??? i doubt they'll do your bookeeping for this price… it is merely to file the tax return…

if you're going to depreciate assets or calculate CGT, you'd already have those records anyway…

        • +4

If your tax return is as simple as filling out a couple of items, sure, go nuts, fill out the online form.

Some people have things a little more complex than that, and the benefit of having someone else do it for them, for a decent price (that is tax deductible the following year) is a Good Thing.

        • -3

Some people have things a little more complex than that

          i bet these aren't including for $39….

        • +1

They probably will charge you $39 if your tax is straight forward (no capital gain, etc). Then there's the add-ons.

      Hi JV,

Please go through this article. Ctrl-c CTRL-v for lazy people :-)

      http://www.news.com.au/money/tax-time/computer-savvy-generat…

Gen Ys filling out own tax returns
May be missing out on higher refunds
Expenses and entitlements not being claimed

TECH-savvy Gen Y workers who save a few dollars by filling out their own tax returns could be missing out on earning higher returns.
A survey of New South Wales workers found 53 per cent of Gen Ys fill in their own tax return well above the state average of 42 per cent.
While this eliminates the average $300 accountant's fees, young workers in well-paid jobs could be overlooking expenses that would result in a higher return.
The Bankwest survey shows the average Gen Y worker expects to receive a $1937 return while Gen X should receive about $2822.
The average tax return nationwide is $2317.
Bankwest economist Tim Crawford said Gen Y felt more comfortable using online services, although they typically didn't have a large share portfolio or property tax matters to consider.
However, graduates earning higher wages could potentially have expenses and other entitlements they are not claiming, he said.

Bankwest CEO Vittoria Shortt said the results also show workers are using tax time to get their finances in order.
Unlike previous years, most workers who receive a tax windfall will use the money to pay off debts or put it into their bank account.
Those who plan to spend their refund say they will treat themselves to a holiday or buy gadgets.
The poll also found 71 per cent are not relying on their refund to clear any immediate debts, while 6 per cent expect they will owe the tax office money.

      • Yes but couldn't Gen Y's lower tax refunds be explained by other means? For example, a lower income? Also that lower incomes generally have less work-related expenses they can deduct? And that their deductions are not worth as much comapred to those on higher marginal brackets? I read this article a while ago and thought it was a waste of the internet.

    • If you're doing your tax yourself, by the book, you're a fool. Get a good accountant and they'll improve your situation by thousands without the risk of audits. I'll happily pay $100+(which is also a deduction).

    Website looks dodgy too…

    http://www.taxvision.net.au/?page_id=2

    • -6

Website is under construction, we are building it as we go. Website would not pronounce our qualification or eligibility.

      • +2

why would i pay an unqualified person to file my tax form ???

    • +2

Agreed, just a basic wordpress install.
Can't understand why they couldn't spend 2 hours getting a theme and putting their content in properly

      • +1

or getting a real website… doesn't instil too much confidence to use their services if they can't get their own stuff in order…

    • +3
      • lol.. i quickly read it as that as well :P

        • lol wow major stuff-up with picking a name it does read as evasion at a glance.

  • +6

another tax agent trying to advertise their service here… this is ozbargain… not ozadvertise… those who advertise here should be banned forever…

  • +2

dodge city… free on ato website

    • +3

      definitely…

the ATO site & tool are getting easier and better each year… there's no excuse not to do it yourself unless you are running a business or have complex trusts or overseas investments…

all the work is done in maintaining your own records and receipts, which isn't covered under this offer…

    • …double post…

  • +1

funny how alot of these dodge websites use the generic wordpress template

  • +3

Do NOT give your financial details or trust your tax return to a "company" that uses a Wordpress site that would take an amateur 5 minutes to make. This is quite obviously a scam IMO.

I guess you are in the wrong place for your ad.
People visit this website are most of the people who are taking advantage of the technology. And will be easy for us just fill in a tax form or fill them online!
The people who not really know how to fill in are possibly those who are too rich (in this case they will have a lot different tax scenario and will not use the basic tax fill and you possibly charge a lot more) and those who not even know what is tax! (you possibly impossible to fine them in here!)
If you wanna business, beside your CPA, you should learn some marketing skill. >0<

    • Agreed.

  • +1

Guys, everything is genuine about it.
If you are not sure , you can ignore the ad.
    42 SMS already and counting.
Thank you everyone for your response. We will contact you shortly

    • We will contact you shortly

I'm sure you will, you want to collect your $39… ($3900)

    • +4

u already admitted it's an ad… like i said before it's OZBARGAIN not "ozadvertise"
if u wanna put up an ad go somewhere else please…

  • +4

I believe in tax accountants and agents. I filled out the online tax form last year and was getting back $3,500, never submitted due to an error. Was lazy to do it all again after losing it. Went and saw a tax agent they pointed out things I didn't realise and missed. I got back $7,500. I paid $165 to get $4,000 more. Fill your tax returns yourself or pay a professional to do it and get more back. I think the choice is simple. I have no idea about this mob though.

    • Well my wife was doing her tax at a registered tax agent before we got married…

First two years, we go letter from the ATO about inconsistencies, which I had to follow up after eventually getting back all her receipts from them… I couldn't believe the basic mistakes they made filling out her tax return…

From then on, I started to do her tax… It not hard to determine what you can claim, the ATO has material for just about every type of occupation…

      • +3

Ahhh.. So now we find the source. Bitter taste left in mouth, feels need to badmouth all tax agents now.

Well at leas that clears everything up, thanks for sharing!

        • I use an accountant as there is a business involved. I used to do my own as well, and found most agents asked all the questions and you provided the answers. If there was any discrepancy it usually has nothing to do with the agent as he is just that, an agent. I see most tax accountant charge $80 upwards so if these guys are charging $39 I believe that constitutes a bargain.

        • I use an accountant as there is a business involved.

The $39 offer is for 'individuals' not businesses…

if you're going to get good tax advise, i bet you'd be paying more than $39… more than $80 even…

this offer is not for tax advice, it's for lodging your return

      • Bitter taste left in mouth,

Not really, I've never needed an accountant thus far…

I like to manage my own finances… The only time I'd consider using one would be if i couldn't find the time or my investments got overly complex… (and i bet it would cost more than $39)

Adding and subtracting isn't rocket science…

what kind of service do you think you'll get for $39 ??? do you really think they are going to give you any advise above and beyond filling out an online form ????

        • +6

I've never needed an accountant thus far

This is the important part here really, isn't it? It's OzBargain, not JvBargain. Just because something isn't a bargain to you, doesn't mean you can neg it.

Can you find a comparative service, for a cheaper price?

          Please note:
          - You don't know the details of what is offered by this service, so don't make assumptions. As such, you can only compare it to similarly advertised items - ITP, H&R Block, etc, charge a lot more than $39 for the same service.
          - Saying "you can do it for free" doesn't apply, as we are talking about the offer, not the actual result. People pay for services that are free if you are willing to sacrifice your own time, all the time.

        • +2

          lol… funniest thing i've read all day…

why would i vote for others ??? I vote on behalf of what I think is a bargain…

That's why there is a tally of votes… To see who thinks it's a bargain and who doesn't…

  • +6

If you can't spell 'individual' there is no way on earth that I'm trusting you with my tax return.

    Nice Wordpress placeholding page too…

  • Thanks for your responses on website. Will endeavour to improve it based on your comments
    Cheers

I'll do your website for $39 lol !!!

Note: "Registered tax agents are the only people allowed to charge a fee to prepare and lodge your tax return. They must be registered with the Tax Practitioners Board and follow strict regulations that ensure they act in a professional manner. "

    http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.aspx?menuid=0&doc=…

Here is where you search for registered agents:
    http://www.tpb.gov.au/tpb/agent_register.aspx

    I could not find "Taxvision".

To Pankaj: can you give us your agent number or the correct name to search the register under?

Edit: Found them under "Tax Vision".

  • REP have you heard of etax? You don't need CPA to do a tax return. If I were you I would big some experience at on of the big 4 then start a consulting company with a few colleagues. Tax return is too easy and too competitive to work in.

  • +3

you guys are brutal.. if you don't think it is a bargain, neg it and move on..

    • -5

then why did you post a comment ???

      • +2

to say, to attack people that believe they are offering a genuine deal is not right. sure, neg it if you believe it is not a bargain, but to attack it.. nah…

      • +1

has anyone ever told you you comment too much?

    • +3

Seriously, ppl are just getting rude here - and just because of this rude oz-bargainers I hardly post deals. Come on guys have a good spirit. Your neg vote says more than enough.

  • I would personally consider this as a deal - Hr block did mine for $99 with student card. And before anybody says i could have done it for free - well i just dont want to do something which i'm not completely sure. And I believe there are many people like me (Say less smart…)

  • +5

We will soon have a site called jvbargain.com.au
Everything is negged because you'll always be able to DIY cheaper.

I agree with the above posters, it shouldn't matter if there are spelling errors or the website isn't the greatest. It's based on whether it's a bargain or not.

If it's not a bargain, those who neg it should provide where the service is cheaper.

We want reps to keep adding to the site, shooting them all down, will not help the cause.

  • +1

In professional services it is very difficult to value the deal as each professional is different from another. Nothing should be voted negative because it is cheaper to DIY. And for DIY people tooth extraction can also be DIY. but everyone prefers a good dentist.

  • +1

Pankaj, Can you please confirm what all services are provided in $39 tax return. Is it the same cost for people with investment property?

    • Yes amsaini.

This was a one time offer which is over now.

It includes everything that an individual tax payer would need to file a return.

      Thanks

      • Different REP replying after 2 hrs that offer is over. I am glad it is over and hope all will be well with 100 innocent people. I was expecting some sort of professional reply about what all sorts of cases are covered (what level of complexity business can deal with) Dissapointed !!

  • Guys just to let you know the Registrant of the website "Qazi Ahmad Mukhtar" is a dodgy agent. He has been doing tax return for few years now but has been notorious for getting the tax returns into his account rather than the Tax account holder. Just to confirm i just sent one SMS n got a reply that "I am in first" although Mr Pankaj.Wadhwa claimed that he got 45 SMS in first hour, its hard to digest that after 4 hours he has struggled to get 100.

Good luck to those to go to him.

    • Thanks for sharing mate. If its dodgy, I think everyone shd avoid these agents or OP shd have some explanation to it.

    • I think a lot of tax agents work that way. The return gets paid into trust or something, they take their fees and send you the balance. Otherwise, the likelyhood is they'd never get paid for their services.

  • I have been filing my Tax return online and it takes quite a bit of time. I will be doing it online again this year and think i will be spending less time as I am more familiar with it now. I dont think it is too hard to do so. ATO has done a great job in making this Software useful and easy. for all deductions or any step, help is there to get you in confidence.

Secondly as many ozbargainers have said, Advertising is bad in Ozbargain. But I think, when the normal rate is around 80 dollars, 39 is a bargain, based on if they do, what they said.

Edit: I think, OP should not have given the website link, if it was under construction. :)
Revoked vote, based on someones bad experience with the agent.

  • +2

    ROFL!!!!!

I bet this "Qazi Ahmad Mukhtar" is the same guy as

    http://www.theage.com.au/national/education/college-in-gross…

Even his office was located in clayton.. better skip this guy.. totally fraud IMO.. .

I knew I have heard that name before..

But.. according to article.. he is "good" in keeping books by wiping out students off the college books :P

If its not that guy.. it's a HUGE co-incidence and I am sorry

    • Get real! I'd bet there are at least 15 Qazi Ahmad Mukhtar's in Clayton! LOL ;)

      • as I said.. I am sorry then .. :(

        • +1

I was joking dude. I agree with you, this "deal" is looking more and more shady.

I'm glad to see people question the validity of deals and companies and dig a little deeper. With tax time and money to be had, sharks will start to circle looking for vunerable prey. There is a captive and broad audience here, and this is probably oh so tempting to scammers.

  • Thank you all for your response today. This offer is closed now.

  • Thank you to everyone who registered. We will file your tax returns at $39 no matter how complex your case is.

Thank you to everyone who commented as well. We will take action on all constructive criticism.

    Thank you.
