Indeed a weird description for a coffee, but hey free is free right

    • Update: weird tasting notes,

Should I be worried about weird ?

    • Nah the description is just the tasting notes of Columbian coffee beans, every region has its own charactaristics. A lot of people won't really notice them unless you're really looking for it. At least they didn't choose the beans with tasting notes like "wet hay"!

  • +2

How much added sugar? I’m watching my butt size.

    • +4

No added sugar, which is why they add some notes of other flavours. They aren't bad. Also worth trying this to realise how much sugar goes into other iced coffees (in terms of taste difference)

    • +1

      None!

      • Sweet!

        Pun intended. 😆

        • +3

The only milk in it is naturally occurring sugars from the milk. It definitely doesn't have any 'extra' dumped in.

Sorry… I shouldn't of said none. But I can assure you it's as low as humanly possible.

Rated at 6.4g naturally occurring due to being a 30% shot. Which is insanely low.

  • +3

Lol joke woke up nd read smokey fish.

  • +4

It tastes goddamn awful unless you are getting hard into coffee or are an aficionado.

Swallow it, savour it, enjoy it.

This is how coffee SHOULD be!

No BS, if price wasn't an issue this bottle out of every single one on the shelf is what I would be grabbing every single time!

  • I’m assuming this is the Lonsdale street exit? About to use Collins/Bourke so will update if it’s that end too.

    • +1

      It’s been 39 seconds. R U OK?!

      • +1

Haha was just patiently waiting for the train to get me there!

Update: nothing at the Bourke/Collins ticket level and nothing at the Collins St steps.

        • Thank you for checking.

  • +3

tried it before from Woolworths. about 3-4 dollars. loved it as there is no added sugar which is hard to find.

    just in time for summer.

  • Got one yesterday, it's close to its best before date, that's why giving it for free???

    • +1

Nope it's because it is full cream milks so why it's close to best before date

  • $4 RRP. For $4 you can get one freshly made at a cafe or for a quick fix, $1 hot or $2 ice coffee at 7/11

    • +3

It might just be me, but I haven't found a cafe that does a good iced coffee yet?
After about the fourth one or so I gave up though.

      • +2

Have you tried cold brew? The good stuff has almost no bitterness. Add a splash of milk and some ice cubes and it's the perfect summer drink.

      • Just get it from 7/11. I know some cafes will use a premix cold coffee like Big M and throw some ice blocks in it, although that is probably more with the frappes. I guess the problem is the moment the coffee is brewed (hot) it starts to oxidise and there are chemical changes. Throwing in ice would increase that and make it taste worse even faster. So if you make it at 7/11 you can brew it straight into the ice cup and mix it up and drink asap before the coffee degrades too much. The best ice coffee would be made using coffee that has been cold brewed, and good luck finding many places that do that here, or charge a small fortune fit it. Surprises me the lack of other styles of coffee (besides espresso) given how much coffee is drunk in Australia. In my recent trip to Singapore, there was cold brew available everywhere as well as other forms of brewing.

      • Having just got back from Cambodia/Vietnam, and having had a couple iced coffees a day at many different cafes over there, I would also agree that I've not really found a cafe in Australia that does an iced coffee anywhere near as well as anywhere over there.

      • Some people turn their nose up at iced coffee but I find it's very difficult to hide bad brewing/stale beans without all the hot frothy milk. Any burnt or bitter notes are very apparent. Plus there's always the risk they serve you some ice cream/cream/sugar syrup monstrosity.

    • Cold brew for $4?

7/11 is rubbish. Can't compare it

      • -2

You obviously missed the recent 7/11 free coffee post and the comments. It does compare and will beat most of the crappy cafes out there. I had 3k+ machines at home, mazzer grinders, custom machined flat and convex tampers and really got into coffee in an OCD way. And in my opinion 7/11 coffee is decent, especially for a machine made coffee. The free sample they are giving is RRP $4.

        • Nope… The grind size doesn't change on the 7-Eleven machines. When the grind is right it is a good cup but otherwise…

        • -1

          especially for a machine made

Implying that there's some magical thing that a human does which a machine cannot do.

Blind taste testing does not support this theory.

Hunt and Brew do a top iced coffee. First tried it in Perth early this year and was bummed I couldn't get it locally in Vic, but that looks like changing now.

    • I've seen it stocked at the 24hr Woolies on Warrigal Road in Melbourne. Hopefully becomes more widespread, it's delicious.

  • +2

That title is great. Please don't change it mods.

  • Hopefully they will have it at Lizzy Quay (Perth) also cause they haven't been lately.

  • +2

Its a good drink, it also has the most caffeine I've seen in a drink.
    ~60mg per 100ml, double a Redbull.
I could always notice an extra buzz and thought something was up.

  • Upvoted for your description

  • +4

this is the best instant bottled coffee out there!

    • Agreed, its pretty good - is it available at Coles? Woolies?

      • definitely avail at Woolies

  • Seeing clients in the city today. How much is there left? Do I need a ticket to get into the station or they;re just outside.

    • -1

fk it where can Ibuy it. available at the express shops in city?

      • Woolworths. Don't go hunting it down specifically

  • +6

I usually get the Brazil one from Woolies, which apparently has 'notes of berry & biscuit, with a nutty caramel finish'. All I know is that it's delicious!

  • Are these UHT milk like Barista Bros and Icebreak?

    • +4

Nope. Regular full cream milk, hence the short use-by-date.

    • DEFINITELY NOT! Premium quality all the way

    • +2

Isn't ice break "normal" reduced fat milk anyway?
As for Barista Bros, well there's not much I can say. It belongs in a vending machine.

  • +1

Maybe I should put a warning… no sugar. But that’s how I like it!

No longer living in Victoria but that is exactly how I like iced coffee, looks delicious.

    • +1

This is a Western Australian brand, so if it's reached Victoria it'd surely reach other cities too

  • +2

    Really solid iced coffee.

No extra sugar as some others mentioned so if you are used to having 10+ teaspoons of sugar in your iced coffee, it might not be for you.

  • Has anyone ever seen these on special in the supermarkets?

    • +1

They do go on special semi-regularly at Woolworths. Though they only drop by 50c down to $3.50 from their usual $4.

  • Yeah so weirdly the cold brew they were giving out at Flinders st the other day was not awful. It was very weak, but it didn't taste acrid and cheap. Probably one of the better coffees I've had out of a bottle.

  • They have this at my local Woolies but can't find it in the Melbourne CBD Woolies. Anybody know where I can get this regularly within CBD? Southern cross station end.

  • Easily the best cold brew coffee available at supermarkets, because it's not packed with 50g of sugar like most.

  • Now I need to get my hands on this one to help me stay awake for Footy.

  • -2

What kind of weird ? like a spicy aftertaste or smells funky ?

  • nice, still on late night freebies

  • +1

as a barista, got triggered by "weird ice coffee." only because McDonalds/Brownes and others have ruined 'iced coffee' with vanilla syrup or sugar.

Anyway Hunt and Brew has been around for a bit and are cold brew latte drinks produced commercially.

Great stuff; the flavours or overtones are produced by single origin beans and the cold brew extraction method, whereas standard cafes/espresso will tend to be blend/mix.
