Would this be weather proof to put on a backyard gate?

Nope unless you put it in a weatherproof box

    • it wouldn't

Been eyeing the mirabella version at kmart, for $25 might be worth it for the easier warranty claim if i need to

    • I have the mirabella. Works well but the alerts are quite laggy, up to ten seconds or so.

I agree with the comment about getting the one from kmart. I have been surprised how expensive these are from overseas. I would have thought about $13 given the price at Kmart.

Have you opened the Mirabella version up and found what chip it uses?

Just wondering if it could use open source firmware.

Can you give it a fixed IP address? This sometimes speeds up the response times of WiFi devices.

  • Has anyone tried the Xiaomi ones? Do you need to have a hub nearby, or can the hub be on the opposite corner of the house?

    • Assuming you mean their Zigbee ones? I've got mine ~20 meters away. through 4 walls. (have it hooked up for a garage door automation)

  • Xiaomi door sensors still cheaper and no stupid tuya restrictions

  • So, from the description, no Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa is required? It connects directly to your wifi router?

    • support google assistant/alexa

  • Is it an ESP8266 inside?

    • yes,it is
