    • Last time I used it (2 years ago), it had to be a VA flight and ANZ had to book it for you.

    • Yes virgin only, return. Fare class T from memory

      • Thanks for confirming.

is it worth transferring these points to Krisflyer or nah. just use it with velocity?
I don't have an account and I don't think id need one unless there's something/alot that I am missing

        • Depends on where you want to go.
          I use both.

Both have their pros and cons

  • How long till they call you to supply your VA number after you have met the spending requirements?

    • Need to wait for the email to come through, I'd say allow up to a week.

There was nothing in the welcome pack or letter of offer about the 75K points. Should there have been?

    • usually not. its a generic pack.
take a screenshot of the website etc and keep it safe in case you need to prove it later

  • Just applied for myself and partner, thanks! Uploaded payslips, now we wait.

Interestingly, she has to verify her ID by visiting the branch physically despite her everyday account being with ANZ, and I have to upload payslips even though I bank with NAB.

  • The welcome pack says that lounge passes are only requested 4 weeks before travelling and are available to the Primary Cardholder only.

Has anyone claimed theirs yet? Does anyone know what's the expiry on them and if these are really locked to the cardholder?

    • I've had my card a year now. I rang and got the lounge passes straight away.
They were just paper expiry was close to 1yr

      • Awesome, thanks daft.

  • Any comments on the travel insurance that comes with this card?

I read thru the PDF and seems to have decent coverage and benefits, with pretty loose eligibility criteria - you just have to have spent at least $250 on "prepaid travel expense" (i.e. flights, accommodation), below 80 y/o, based in Australia and have a return flight back to Australia.

  • Is it normal that I lost 160 points (from 860) over my credit score just because of the credit application ? That doesn't seem right.

  • got rejected ! I have owned much higher credit limit card before so suprised it didn't go through.

    • I've read ANZ and st George are pretty strict

      • yeah maybe. Hope this doesn't affect my credit score as I want to apply to a few to gather some VFF points to use next year. So annoying.

        • It will dip slightly.
If anything apply for the other now before the ANZ hits your file and causes the dip maybe?

          • @daft009: Will do. Looking for another card that has good offer with VFF. Unfortunately this ANZ one is pretty good. I just checked my credit score is over 800. So no idea what went wrong. My income is also way above the requirement. I just closed a couple credit card that I don't use anymore which I did not include in my application but it seems to still show on my report as active. Maybe the missmatch caused this rejection ? Don't know. Guess it takes a couple of days to be reflected as closed ? I don't know in this case should I wait till report shows them as closed then apply for a diff card or do it now ?

            • @fseng: I had to provide letters recently to show cards that I'd recently closed. Think the credit file only updates every month so your October closures will show in Nov I believe.. Though I'm not an expert as I'm not a churner. I hold the right cards as my spend is high

              • @daft009: How did you check to see what credit card you have opened?

            • @fseng: @fseng You can call the ANZ CS and ask them as to what caused the rejection. They will let you know as the reason. I had a similar experience with an ANZ card and they told me the reason and asked me to call back with in 89 days of the application if I am sure the reason they mentioned did not matter anymore. At least this is what happened with my application.
Please note that I am not associated with ANZ and also, not a financial adviser but just sharing my experience.

  • Hi all,

Anyone who did not receive the promo code in the "welcome on board" email? I met the 2,500 requirement last week, still no promo code.

    • I’ve met the requirements for almost a month now. No email. How did you go

      • Still no email. Some posts said the promo code come with the "welcome on board" email. Did you receive that?

        • Nope. no email.

  • I was informed, within 90 days of reaching the minimum spend you would receive the code in the mail.

nothing they can do over the phone.

  • Anyone received their velocity bonus points from this deal yet? I haven't heard a thing and did spend a while ago.

    • Heard a promo code will come, but did not receive.. a month passed

      • still waiting here as well, onto second statement.

    • nothing yet. onto second statement.

  • Does anyone know if I can pay a friend and it will count towards $2500 spend?

    • Yes, it should do. via paypal or square pay, etc.

      • Just note you'll get hit with transaction fees if you do this. (May still be worth it if you are struggling)

  • Applied yesterday and got approved today. Looks like their turnaround is fast at least for now.

  • I'd like to sign up. Just curious what effect on credit history there will be. My score is good but I have 2 other credit cards. What type of reduction in my credit score could I expect to have?

    • Owning many credit cards doesnt necessarily mean you have to have a low credit score.
It drops with every enquiry from the bank (for example when signing up), but as long as you keep paying your bills on time your rating will go back to normal within a few months.
You can sign up with creditsavvy or some other to see and get monthly credit score updates.

  • Anyone know if BPay attracts a cash advance for this card?

  • Has anyone got the email for velocity number? It is more than 2 months and still no email.

  • Darn, just got rejected by ANZ although my credit score was over 850, with only one open credit card. Will call them to find out the reason.

Got the "Congratulations, you've earned bonus Velocity Points" email!

  • received my congratulations velocity points emails this morning

  • i got my 75k points this morning. should i wait for this promotion to return? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/493330

  • received the points!

  • Me too.
The best churning experience of all the cards i have had.
Card arrived fast, got the velocity email with 2nd statement and points got transferred in 3 minutes. Exactly how it is supposed to be.
Cant even compare to st george, which i had before this card and what was the worst experience by far.

The only downside is that now I will have to find another card to churn.

  • booked the flights and lounge passes yesterday, closed the card today.

  • Received my points.
I felt like I was waiting a while for my points as well. Called ANZ and they were able to check if my spending met the requirements and they also prompted me for my velocity number.

    • Dont forget to transfer your spend points from anz rewards

I recommend call the number provided. I got auto rejected however when I called they ran through the application process and it was approved.

Be careful with the credit card section. They ask for your credit limit, outstanding amount and any carry forward. The carry forward section is not clear.

  • just received the lounge passes in the mail.

  • Hi guys,

I was wondering how long does it take ANZ to approve / decline my card application?

I applied last night, and submitted my pay slips etc

I also did not receive an email acknowledgement from ANZ about my application (But i took screenshots of my application number )

Was the card application process pretty much instant and pain free for you guys ?

    • +1

For me it took a few business days. Pretty slow compared to Amex, they called me the next day to advise me they approved it.

      • Thank you for the reply. Yes, you are right with regards to AMEX. I got approved straight away with AMEX.

  • Hey guys. I have met the spent requirements for almost 2 weeks now but still haven't received the velocity mail to receive the velocity points. Just wondering how long has it taken for some of you guys to receive the mail?

    • +1

I messaged them via securemail and got the following reply:

      Thanks for your SecureMail.

You will be contacted automatically by our loyalty team within 90 days of reaching the spend criteria to provide your details.

We can confirm that below is the offer available on your card.

      • 75000 Bonus Velocity Points when you spend $2500 on eligible purchases within the first 3 months

Please contact us via SecureMail if you have any other account enquiries.

Got mine around 6 weeks after I met the spend requirement.

  • Can you use the complimentary flights as one way rather than return? My situation: already have flights booked one way for a holiday but haven't booked the return flight back home yet

    • +1

I sugguest book a return trip but have the return leg spaced far apart in case you want to go back to the same place again.

  • how do i redeem the lounge pass + free return domestic flights? call ANZ call center?

    • Call 1300367763

Super bad experience with this card. Signed up mid October 2019. Met the min spent requirement by mid Dec. Still no bonus points, no email to ask for my velocity number.

I have called ANZ twice. The first time they said to wait until the three months period is up. The second time today they said have to wait u til February.

Usually the points are rewarded when the requirements are met for other credit cards. No idea why ANZ is making the process so complicated firstly by having to send an email to confirm the velocity number and secondly the wait time.

    • I am in the same boat but have been waiting longer. ANZ have continued to give the generic reply that they will contact me within 90 days of reading the minimum spend requirements. I signed up and approved in September and met the min spend in October, but still waiting for points.

      • I signed up mid October 2019, hit spend by end of 2nd statement period (early January 2020), messaged ANZ via SecureMail on 06/01, ANZ responded 07/01 and was given 90 day spiel and "you are eligible for bonus points".

Received email from [email protected] on 21/01/20 with link to claim points. Followed process and they were immediately added to Velocity account.

Have now just tried to redeem free flight and advised no availability for dates I am after in May 2020 which is a bummer.

  • can we book the flight in Cardholder name and then call the Airline and change the name? is that possible even with some fee

  • +1

Poor experience with ANZ for this card. Despite multiple attempts in contacting them, they haven't transferred me the velocity points. It's been 3 months since I met the minimum spend.

    • You're not alone. I've got the lounge passes but points are still outstanding. This 'phonecall' is like a magical unicorn

      • Same here - called a few times, each time they gave different advice on the timeline. Signed up early Oct and hit the spend criteria by end Nov.

        • It's 3 months from the 1st statement that was issued showing the spend was met. That was what the CS agent told me. If they don't honour that I will surely be asking for compensation like what happened with the NAB debacle.

    • Just checking - do you guys use hotmail or other mail providers? Apparently they've sent the email to my hotmail a couple of times but I have yet to receive anything, after checking inbox, junk mail and even clearing my inbox.

My partner who signed up about the same time uses Gmail but she didn't receive anything too.

So I suspect something is wrong with their eDM system? Obviously I'm not the only one that didn't receive any emails from them?

  • I signed up in August last year with the previous promo where min spend was only $500 in first 3 months.

When I went to book flights the only fare you can book is the Getaway fare. If that’s not available you can’t book. You also have to book 30 days in advance from memory.

The Amex free flight card (even more expensive) is less hassle and better value imo

    • You have to book it 60 day in advance. Hence why I would book mine 5-6 months out. The anz one has more destinations than the Amex when departing from Melbourne.

    • You can use ita matrix to search class t which is eligible for the free flight

  • Just received my points. I can suggest making contact with their complaints team as I did.

    • did you just get the points? or did they offer you something else for doing their job?

      • I complained to my mate who holds a pretty high level job in ANZ, got the points (apparently the system was broken or something) and they gave me and my partner 10k extra points each as goodwill.

        • I emailed the complaints team and they've just come back telling me that I am not eligible for the 75k points??? I signed up in September, pretty sure I met the 2.5k spending criteria… Said the only offer I have on my account is free domestic return flight after spending $500.

  • Received my points today as well.

    • Ditto. Received an SMS with a link this morning. Clicked thru, put in my velocity number, and points were instantly credited. Now I just have to book flights and cancel ASAP.

    • Me too. Looks like it's sent a few days after the statement is generated. For perspective I met the min spend on my 2nd statement and received the points after the 4th statement is generated. Sure it was long but it's as expected.

  • I suspect this comment rings true as my friend’s Qantas points came in today also: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/484271?page=2#comment-8403…

  • Anyone had to change their free flight after booking due to the virus?

    What was the response?

I booked mine ages ago, before Xmas actually for a trade show in Melbourne. Just been told the show is cancelled due to the virus
