These are great in the oven. No need to deep fry…

220 degrees fan forced. 15 mins. turn over, another 15 mins… perfection.

You have no taste buds Gramps .

Nothing better than mixed with all that crap especially the flake in the oil at your local fish n chip shop .

      Perfection :)

      • +1

Nah, fish & chip shops use canola oil these days. Taste crap.

        • +1

Not at my local heart attack shop lol .

          • +1

@profar: To heart attack or not to heart attack, oil is the question

        • Maybe Tell 'em to add TBHQ and Citric Acid .. like KFC add to their Canola Oil and Hydrogenated Soybean Oil .. to protect flavour ;-)

If you like the texture of cardboard yeah.

      • I guess you've never tried them.

    • Do you defrost them before you oven bake them?

      • +1

        No. Straight from the freezer.
        Just preheat the oven.

    • This is exactly what I do and tastes great - but not quite the deepfried to oblivion taste that my local fish and chips store manages.

You beauty. Thanks OP. Gonna stock up.

I love their corn jacks too.

How long before the daigou discover these??

  • +2

Nice. Just about finished the 5 packs when Woolworths had them half-price.

Marathon Spring Rolls never seem to be on sale anywhere near as often as these.

They’re my go-to air fried cylindrical shaped snack and i’ve nearly run out!

    • +1

Were on sale a week ago?

    • +1

Yeah the Marathon Spring Rolls are the bomb. Far less salt and much better filling than Chikos.
Were half price at Coles last week.

Oh and air fryers were made for these!

Didn't know where to post this but… does anyone remember the Chicken and Corn Rolls from school canteens? I think they're similar to this but am not sure if there's a better product out there to match the chicken and corn rolls I remember eating for lunch for $1.30 growing up. I checked all the Coles/Woolies but couldn't find anything similar.

    Any ideas?

    • +1
    • Yes, I definitely remember them and bought these thinking they were similar enough. Boy was I wrong. These are nothing similar. Tastes terrible. I bought 2 packs at the time and regret it. Buy 1 to try but then again, I wouldn't even bother.

    • I remember those. Tasted great, would love to find them again. Today's school kids don't know what they're missing.

      • Now we just need to get them to bring back the Yumbo….

    Grand Final day (partially) sorted!

Do they have this in jail?

    • +6

      Yes. Every Friday .

        Chicos for the Banditos!

      • What did you do time for jv?

  • Marathon Spring Rolls on sale too? Prefer this one as it's more tender and juicier as opposed to the dry and tough Chico Rolls.

    • They're not that dry and tough, but of course if you want them to be softer, you need to deep fry.

One way around this is to dip them in oil and then oven bake.

  • Anyone cook these in a air fryer?

    • +2

Yes, in the air fryer I got from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/198295 that is still going strong all these years later.

25 mins from frozen (Air Fryer preheated for 2 mins prior). Beautiful in a delectable blend of otherwise unidentifiable mush (yes I have read the ingredient list, still not convinced!) encased in pastry type of way.

      • Noice will try eh eh eh

      • Cool. Been wanting to try these out in the air fryer I bought from Kogan deal.
