so tempted but just don't like the bixby button

    • +19

If it's the same as the Note 10, you can just use an app called sideActions to remap it to whatever you want. I remapped mine so it now acts like an iPhone silent switch

      • +4

Pretty much similar, I'm on the s10e, and you can remap your bixby button to any other app without any extra apps (I have mine set to open spotify) so I really like the button now.

The only issue is you have to choose between:
        1. single click -> any app || double press press -> bixby
        2. single click -> bixby || double press -> Any App

So I imagine the third party app would allow even more configuration.

        • You do need to sign in to your Samsung account, however (and signing out again removes the customisation).

      • +1

you can remap it without any side apps.

But the button has 2 functions: single tap and double tap, and one of those must still be mapped to Bixby. Easy solution is to map it to your favorite app for single touch and then double tap bixby but just don't ever double tap it.

I've never summoned bixby unintentionally. I've never summoned it at all actually. But I still find Bixby better than Siri which I also never use.

    • +5

I have been using S8 for 2 years.
I am not a fan of Bixby. But, the button does not bother me.

      • +1

Note 8 as well and after about 6 month i forgot it existed. Once you turn off bixby it does nothing now.

      • and i use a bixby mapper to map it to Google

    • +3

You can use an app like CCSWE to disable the bixby app completely, disabling the button in the process.

There are reasons not to buy a Samsung, but the bixby buttons shouldn't be one of them

    • +4

      Buy Bxaction pro
I've been using it on my s9 for around 1 1/2 years (i got my s9 at launch) and its repurposed the bixby button into a useful button. Etc hold it down for x seconds to activate flashlight.

      • +3

+1 to that. I have it set to:

        Single press = Google pay
single press and hold = Google now
        double press = Spotify
Double press and hold = play/pause
Volumn up press and hold = Next
Volumn down press and hold = Previous

Having that extra physical button actually ends up a plus for me

    • +1

As someone that has the S10+ since launch, I've literally never accidentally pressed the bixby button nor has it even come into my peripheral vision while using the phone.

IMO people have really over-exaggerated the 'issues' of the bixby button.

As someone else mentioned, the button itself is easily remappable as well so shouldn't be any issues. If you missed out on the Note deals or the 50% off codes, this is the next best alternative (some may say it's just as good if you don't care for the s-pen and use wired headphones.)

    • It's a dumb addition, but 3 revisions later I'm used to it. I never use it though. The case of my old S8 was completely worn out except the Bixby button.
You don't press it by accident, it's ignorable.

How much can i sell this for?

    • Lol

  • What is required to apply for an education account? Valid student ID?
Must be University or just any student ID?

    • +2

      .edu email

    • +1

From what I gather state school kids (not Catholic school ones apparently) get an edu email, so you really only need to have a friend with children in school, or any school or uni staff or uni student who is happy to help you out. Technically, this probably violates some terms of service I suspect.

      Procedure:
      * Sign up for a Samsung account at the edu portal
      * Use an edu email in the sign up process (or use your own email and then validate it later with an edu one but that seems harder and asks more questions)
      * Get the code from your friend's edu account and pop it into your account
      * Done. Apparently it may revalidate at some time and you may need the edu account again, but it seems to work for at least a while.

There's a limit of 5 phone purchases per account, but I doubt most people are concerned by that limit.

      • If I don't know anyone with a .edu email, how then do I access this since this is not a targeted offer?

  • The code is not working for S10 4G, I presume?

    • +1

it will work for the s10 512gb, the code only works on order above $1000

      • How much is S10 512gb after code?

        • $1039.3

      • thanks

  • The now-expired deal for the Note10 had the Note10 for the same price as this. Which would you choose?

    • it depends if you prefer the note functions such as S pen,

or you want a 2k display. As the small note 10 only has a 1080p display

    • +13

      note 10+ > s10+ > note10

      • This.

  • I like thw size of note 10 in my hand

    • kinda wish the note 10 had the same battery as the 10+ and the sdcard but meh

  • +5

Not the cheapest price so far. Managed to get it for $855.55 a couple months ago combing these two deals.

    • +1

      Lol negged for stating facts?

      • Hi mate, can you send me through a private message. At the moment looks like your profile doesn't accept them.

      • Good job.
I recommended the S10+ recently to people for $900 (now that Note10 is released), so this deal is pretty decent. But if you got it for $850 two months ago… then you're clearly ahead of the market. Nice bargain hunting.

I suspect this will hold its value anywhere between $700-$950 in the next 6 months, as the next generation of phones get released. The only way it could drop heavily in value is if the S11 models are vastly superior (eg Much Better Exynos SoC, Much better camera, Much faster charging, Better fingerprint, Better display= No notch, 21:9 display, 120Hz, etc etc).

  • Is it possible to use this deal for 28 degrees price protection?

    • +2

Unfortunately not due to the deal not being available for everyone (education store). Same with the EPP store. I tried it last time and they denied it, even though I was eligible for the discount.

      • even if you bought from the EPP store?

      • I successfully used EPP for price protection claims. Was asked for proof of new price because they didn't have access. I provided the screenshot of it in my cart, and got the refund, no further questions asked.

        • Interesting. They even called my to explain why they were denying the claim.

          • @elli0t: guess it depends who you get.

Who did you originally purchase it from?

Not sure why I got downvoted for telling the truth. I guess someone is just jealous?

      • What I would do is send claim then upload the proof (screenshot) immediately. No questions asked when I did that, though it may be the person checking it.

  • $899?
    I see the S10+ for - $903.63

  • -2

soon samsung will be giving these away for free

    • +2

They will do that. But it will be 100 units every hour. First in best dressed.

  • Thanks, bought a normal S10 and a case for $873.50

  • The S10/S10+ does not have a MicroSD card slot?

    • it does.

  • S10+ is a great phone!

    • you know what would make it even better? If it didn't have the double selfie lens giving it a pill shaped cutout. The Note proved you didn't need both, and only one hole is enough.

      • +3

That doesn't really bother me. Only issue I have with the S10+ is the fingerprint scanner which is a tad slow and sometimes doesn't read unless you press really hard

        • More and more videos now are wider than 16:9. The pill cutout will cut into your movie and is distracting.

Back when everything was 16:9 it didn't cut any of your picture but now it does.

If you came from a notched phone you were probably used to it already.

  • I heard the finger printer reader is not vey mature on the S10/+
Its good on the Note 10

  • Bougth Note10+ for $1039 in last deal. But latter realised it was too big. Tried to buy S10 but UNiDAYS only works once.

    • +5

Once you get used to the big screen, you will never wanna go back. It was my case at least.

      • Thanks for the suggestion. You suggestion makes me think twice about sending it back. I think I got NOte10+ cheaper than S10+ but I am still thinking. Have 14days to send it back.

    • If you sell it i am interested ;)

  • Is the s10e 128gb on sale as well?

  • +1

I want an S10e - is it worth picking it up for $840 here, or will a better deal come around soon-ish?

  • Meh, iPhone fanboy here, can’t deny the tech you get for the price here is unbeatable

  • Hi,

Do i just need a unidays account or if i need to signup via Samsung.. is a '.edu' email ok?.. or does it need to be a 'edu.au'?

    Thanks

    • UNiDAYS accounts not required

Requires a .edu.au email address to access to Samsung Education Store.

  • Gonna see if I can get 28 Degrees Price Protection.

Read a thread on here recently, but still unsure if a coupon will hurt my chances despite it being from the exact same retailer.

    • Take a screenshot of it in your cart with the code applied and the discount reflected.

  • A70 out of stock, anyone has idea normally when does the store replenish.

  • should I feel sad or ashamed that uni kids are buying better phones then me? :)

    • Pretty sure Uni kids do a lot more fun stuff than you! ;)

  • Does anybody have a code for me ? :D

    • ITs Up there "UNiDAYS"

      • -3

I am not student in Australia…

        • then a code is not going to help you

          • -1

@snvl: sorry… by a code I mean the use of an email adress

        • +1

You need an education email ID. Any Uni or Education employees would also have .edu.au address. It's not restricted to students only.

  • is delivery free?

    • +1

      Yes

  • i'm trying to get the s10 hybrid 512gb in the Education store but it says not working for this product . any idea why? the single sim is not offering 512GB. how does one get the S10 4G 512gb : $1039.30? thanks

    • Apply the code "UNiDAYS" at the checkout.

  • Do I only need to use the edu email once to verify the samsung account or do I need it to verify and need it again to make a purchase?

    • +1

      Just the once

  • Should I get the s10+ for $900 or wait for a deal on the s10e for ~$750-$800 and claim trs on the s10e.?

  • If you like curved screens, then this is ok … but the flat screen on the s10e is better.
    Dex is amazing btw.

  • What's the Best price on the Note 10+ to date? I'm keen for that to replace my S8+…

    • +1

1209 is the best ive found

  • Thank you. Bought an S10 128gb and a case for $857 or thereabouts.

  • Can you also trade in your old phone for an additional discount?

  • -3

anyone want to do me a solid and purchase on my behalf? Hell i will even let you keep the change from $900

  • is that $900 before or after the $150 discount?

  • TIP - If you want the S10 or S10e that is less than $1000 (not eligible for discount), go and add a case or battery pack and the code will work because the total is over $1000 :)

  • Can anyone recommend a good thin case for my S10+? Like as thin as possible lol but still good quality? I tried to google this but most of the results cannot be find in Australian retailers let alone Amazon.

  • I just checked at the Edu portal but the prices are back to normal, this post says it will finish on 26th?

    • did you use the UNiDAYS code?

  • S10+ or wait for the Note 10 + to go back on sale?

    • Me too , i want note 10

      • The big size and headphone jack are pulling me back from Note 10.

Plus the wait for it go on sale again.

        • dont need jack and s10+ is not much different size with note10plus. for an extra $150 (if its on sale again). I rather take note10+ over s10+
better video recording, better chipset. etc
