    probably a printing mistake…

I bought one today at Gepps Cross, SA. Dozens Left. Signage in store is $48, scans at $38. Apparently 1000 pages in included toner. $59 for for replacement toner, with 1000 pages. Go figure.

finally a cheap laser printer that's cheap to run. 6 cents a page cool.

    • +2

      combined with staples paper.

    • +4

6 cents per page isn't that cheap in my books.

  • We do the good price (may the the best at the moment) cartridge for $55 each, $52 each if buying 3 to 4 or $49 each each if buying more 5 or more.

damn….toner business not doing so well when the printers are selling at these prices.
      $38 for a New Printer+1000pages Toner.
$55 for a New Toner (probably 1000 pages?)

umm~~~i guess I'll stock up 5 printers and throw them out after I use up the toner.
Not so helping the environment I guess…that's another moral issue I guess.

      • I doubt that it will have a 1000 pages toner come with the printer. Most starter toners/cartridges come with printers are 1/2 capacity.

        • +3

Not brother ones, they come with full capacity toners =] (managed to get 2818 pages out of my 1500 page starter brother toner)

        • Wrong… These are full.

      • Don't worry. The ranga is about to try to convince us that she can save the planet with a carbon dioxide tax.

The printer also has a 2,200 page toner available for RRP $99 - still makes throwaway printers economically viable.

        • +1

The experts, the people who devote their lives to study of the environment and economics, obviously disagree with your sentiment.

got one this morning.tried to get one more for my sister but the salesman refused to sell saying limit one per customer and i have to argued with him to that nowhere in the catalogue or HN website stated that limit one per customer but he still won't sell.i think most HN staff are not well trained for the job plus arrogant and what more laziness.i have to think twice if i have to deal with HN in the future.have a good day guys.

    • +9

Maybe the salesmen just knew it was a good price and wanted everyone to have a fair shot at grabbing one. At least he actually cares and it's better than him selling them all to one guy to throw on fleabay.

  • +1

i would of left the store and put the printer in the car ,come back in and buy another one n say sorry u must be mistaken ive just walked in the store….lol…

  • Can anyone confirm whether OW has this printer?

    • You wanna get one for $36.10! rofl

  • Brisbane Garden City Mt. Gravatt is out of stock…damn.
HN guy not able to help me check the stock at other shops!
I am going to miss out again….dont like this~~

    • hehe….located some of this printer at Carindale HN.
They have about 25 left if anyone wants one from Brisbane.

    • There were more than 10 in stock about an hour ago at Brisbane Garden City. Maybe they got more stock this afternoon?

  • +1

OW DON'T SELL IT…they have the M205 for $88 multifunction.

  • I saw this sell in auburn hn for 48! Which newspaper you saw the ad?

  • HN bargain deals catalogue inside yesterday herald sun(vic).you can pick that catalogue at any HN stores and will scan $38 at check out anyways.

    • +1

The shop I went into still marked the tag at $56. The salesman said it's $48, but scanned it at $38.
They dont even know they have that on sale…
but it should scan at $38 at every store since they are all linked system aust wide.

  • +1

Yep my experience was $149 on box, $48 on sign, Gen Y Blonde cashier $48…I said $38 which looked like she had to type in(Wonder if I said $28 would have passed? ;))
Replacement Toners had $99 on em!

Bigger than expected and flip out tray to put paper in :( as not used paper will get dirty sitting in printer. 10 left

  • and one know if the toner cartridges has a chip on them and if they can be refilled?

    • +1

Yes. We have tested the aftermarket cartridge the other day when we got them in. The reason for testing is because we want to make sure the chip on them are fully compatible.
We think there will be a stage that this cartridge will be so cheap so no one will wanting to refill them.

  • A few left in Chadston store.

  • How does it compare to my brother HL-2140? Not sure whether to get one of these for the folks.

    • +2

HL-2140 has a real paper tray. But, in terms of CPU and memory, Xerox P205B is better. Photo quality on P205B is really good (pity it is only black and white) - very even, no banding. The printer is also very quiet. Because it is so compact, the paper tray is quite basic - more prone to paper jam.

$38 for a compact laser printer that has decent speed and prints images quite well… very good deal.

  • And, I also think they come in two colors: White and Black. I would pick black. =)

  • Just picked one up from Hardly Normal - Rutherford NSW

Scanned @ $38, and they gave me a free ream of paper! woooop

    ~20+ units on the floor.

  • Just picked up 2 from HN Morayfield and they've got 2 left. They first scanned at $48 and wouldn't go down to $38. After some investigations instore the difference is the black ones (P205B) scan at $48 and the white ones (P205BW) scan at $38 (Floor ticket has them at $199). They wouldn't give me the black ones for $38 when I asked. Good going on those who did manage it.

    • White ones beautiful and classy.zero reason to give more for black.

      • White may get sun-tanned by the sun if its used close to a window? Whilst Black wouldn't?

  • Now, who needs to buy an ink cartdridge at $75+ a pop , just buy a new printer every time.

  • I went to the auburn store today and saw they had two Xerox printers ticketed at $48. So I asked one of the staff which printer was $38? He said none of them were $38 and only the inkjet's were that low, i even said a friend got one for $38 but he said the prices are different store to store. I ended up taking it to the counter myself and the guy behind the counter scanned it for $38 and said gee thats cheap going to get one of those for myself. They have about 15-20 left at Auburn HN and nothing about a limit per customer. Good find Kluger.

  • If any one in ACT wants one, there are a few (>20) in Fyshwick.

  • Bought a couple tonight. Thanks for the listing.

  • $48 in Brisbane City

  • anyone know if there is any stock in Garden City HN?

  • any one?

    • You could, umm, try the telephone.

  • I sent an email enquiry to Melbourne QV Harvey Norman, and heard this back from Michael Hodge "It comes with a starter toner only"

  • I think the toner ratings have been covered earlier in this thread, but here it is again anyway.

Irrespective of what the HN's uninformed Mr Hodge may have written, the P205B comes with a "standard" 1000 page toner as opposed to the high yield 2,200 page toner. So it's not really a "starter" toner, in that it's a standard, commercially available replacement toner, just not the big one.
