These guys are pretty easy to work with, I dropped my camera while I was in China & it was pretty fast to claim the damages. Will be using them whenever I travel overseas.

RAC has higher and more benefits, and is still cheaper even with the huge 5% discount this company is offering.

Confirm the most important thing with this travel insurance provider - they actually pay out!
Have claimed cancelled flight, two rental car excess and a broken phone back glass all from different trips.

    • Yup! There is no point in having travel insurance when all they do is weasel out of every claim possible. I learnt the hard way when claiming medical expenses from Travel Insurance Direct. Covermore on the other hand have been great!

      • I've also had TID reject a claim so would never recommend them :) this (claim payout) is a factor that people need to consider more when choosing.

    • How does rental car excess work in this case? 1cover says "This cover does not replace rental vehicle insurance"

      • Your standard rental has an excess of about $5000 (varies between companies and vehicle types). If anything happens they will charge you (up to?) the excess. Buying insurance off the car company reduces this excess to X amount (depending on level and therefore extra cost per day).
I had two claims, one for chipped windscreen ($2500 charged by Enterprise I think to repair) and minor front bumper damage (parallel parking when guy in next lane decided to drive). That one was something ridiculous but still less than $5k (Hertz). Both times not at fault.
1cover paid for both these excess charges so I was only out of pocket the 1cover excess ($100 each claim).
Bringing down your car excess/liability can cost you an extra $100 PER DAY with a car rental company. My annual insurance costs me I think $400 a year? No brainer to pay for insurance that includes car rental excess cover if you rent cars on trips!

That line means 1cover is not covering the rental car for repair cost, or replacing expensive insurance which will cover windscreen, tires, roll overs etc. It means it only pays out for any car rental excess as charged by the car rental company.
