Browsing through Amazon and saw this pop-up.

I didn't buy as I have a O365 subscription through work I can use, but seems very cheap!

The reviews all said it activated and it's fulfilled by Amazon so I guess if there are issues, they protect you?

They also have Windows 10 Professional 32/64bit for $25.92.

Hope it helps someone!

  • For that price with Prime seems cheap.

    • +4

Cancelled our order as it's a volume license key and will likely be cancelled later. Amazon cancelled right away.

  • Very cheap!

  • +4

It's a 3rd party seller. Not officially from Amazon. This seems to be against the rules on here when posting deals from Amazon. Appreciate the effort OP

    • It’s fulfilled by Amazon.

      • +10

That doesn't mean anything. It's just a random 3rd party seller on Amazon. And clearly a scam.

        • +4

If it was Amazon Prime eligible, Amazon would still stand by the product's legitimacy as it's warehoused, in whatever form, by Amazon. If it's not legit, they will refund and shut down the seller.

Edit: as this is not delivered by Amazon, it's not eligible for prime and Amazon has nothing to do with this.

      • +8

        Definitely not fulfilled by Amazon.

        • +9

Lol got negged for pointing out it's not fulfilled by Amazon. Amateurs…

    • I got the 2016 version for $35 a few weeks ago from the same seller. No issues at all though?

      • +3

It usually works BUT for how long is the "unknown" factor. These keys usually end up expiring/get cancelled by Microsoft over time. Might be a month, might be years? More about they are not legit "licence" keys and as long as you are good with the risks etc, then all is well.

        • +11

Is the risk just the length of time?

          https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/office-professional-2019/c…
According to this website office 2019 costs $639.00 - so if on average we use office for 6.4 years, then it costs $8.30 per month. So paying $15, you get your money back as long as you use it for 2 months or more. And if you don't, then it is a small cost to pay for an option to have high upside.

          What risk??

          • +5

@leeboy168: There are always people saying these are not legit, volume license etc. I bought one from a game seller 3 years ago, 2016 version , checked with Microsoft confirmed it’s legit. Had it since no issue at all. It stayed on my Microsoft account whereas the other licenses goes through but does not remain on Microsoft account.
Microsoft knows all these volume licenses are being sold and has no issue but there are some who are more concerned pointing out these are not legitimate. I guess the choice is yours but in my case I just wanted something on my laptop as I normally do all office stuff at work so just to have office installed this was a good choice for me.

          • +6

@leeboy168: Except pirating the product costs $0.00 per month, and that's far more ethical considering you're not funding criminal activity…

              • +15

@leeboy168: What a tough guy. You're free to do whatever you want - I'm not going to stop you from wasting $15 on an illegitimate virtual product or otherwise argue against a ridiculous logical fallacy.

                • +2

@Tyrx: "risk adjusted return". Lol. His second sentence tells you all you need to know but that little gem tops it off. Some people have no concept of honesty but no doubt would scream blue murder if someone was ripping them off.

          • @leeboy168: There's no risk to you but you're supporting businesses that do the wrong thing

  • Is this legitimate?

    • +7

      no.

      • +1

Why are you being negged!? This just isn't legitimate! (legitimate vs illegal before anyone gets that interpretation incorrect)

  • Any legal way to get Mac Office at a good price? Or is O365 the way to go for someone who uses both platforms?

    • +3

Find a student and then use their email to get the education discount.

      • Or sign up for a useless tafe short course, get access to edu.au email, purchase student discount products and withdraw from course very early before first payment due. Usually you still keep the email for awhile.

        • Why not a free TAFE course?

          • +1

@AussieZed: What free TAFE course gives you an .edu.au email?

    • +1

https://au.pcmag.com/how-to/48907/how-to-use-microsoft-offic… … apparently it's not as fully-featured as an installed version, but probably enough for your typical needs.

  • +1

How is this different from those eBay keys?

    • +31

      It's 10x the price here.

  • Sweet, got both. Thanks OP

  • +26

Proplus is not a retail product, it can only be bought as a volume licensing product from a reseller, as a subscription through Microsoft or gotten through the Action Pack or similar programs.

You will likely get a leaked\stolen MAK key that will be blocked by Microsoft at some point.

  • +29

Pro Plus is not available to the retail channel. Your not buying a valid license, it is no different than pirating to Microsoft.

This will either be a MAK key from a volume license limited to 50 activations (for everyone) or a single key tied to a Visual Studio subscription.

    • "Pro Plus is not available to the retail channel. Your not buying a valid license, it is no different than pirating to Microsoft."

Pro Plus keys register as "Retail" under the Microsoft Volume Activation Management Tool.
But you are right, there are no "Retail" channels that sold this.

The only channel was Microsoft HUP, but it seems most of the work programs have turned into 30% off Office subscriptions now.

"This will either be a MAK key from a volume license limited to 50 activations (for everyone) or a single key tied to a Visual Studio subscription."

Are there Multiple Activation Keys for Proplus? I've seen them for individual products for Office 2013/2016, but for an entire suite?

      • Yes. Almost every product that can be bought under volume license has a MAK option, because KMS is not always feasible.

They also generally massively over allocate the MAK keys. Eg. Buy 5, get 50 MAK.

  • +2

Sorry noob question - is this a yearly subscription or as long I have Windows 10, it's valid?
Assuming I then have to download the software from Microsoft and then activate with this key?
Been using Google docs but miss old Bill G.
Just realised that was 2 questions but it's Friday night so… asking for a friend:)

    • +11

Sorry noob question - is this a yearly subscription or as long I have Windows 10, it's valid?

It's valid until the key is blocked for being a leaked\stolen corporate MAK key.

If you need features from Office but don't want to pay, try the Office Web Apps via Onedrive. Provided you're not doing anything overly complicated you'll get a legible DOCX file out of it you can share with others.

Amazon charges fee for digital delivery now?

  • +6
    • So i bought something ill have to pay for??

      • +1

It'll likely work for a month and then get revoked, seems like they've signed up for a bunch of 365 pro plus plans @ $17 a month (comes with 5 keys) to sell off, I'm surprised it got onto Amazon tbh

        • Thanks canceled mine.

          • @Seedy seed: How did you cancel the order? I could send only order cancel request…

            • @TigerWoops: It gave me the option. Contact amazon tomorow by phone they will do it.

  • +7

I buy all my software keys on ebay and never had any issues.

    • +1

Doesn't mean it's legal though……which in this case is not. I am always surprised that Ozbargains permits illegal software deals.

      • +23

Someone grab the tissue box please.

        • +23

Did you find some good porn?

      • +5

under european laws, software is transferable ….. so if PC has reached end of life they can sell the software taken from it with the keys …… doesn’t apply in usa ….. just like european union has privacy laws on the internet and the usa and australia don’t.

      • -1

Someone get this guy a tissue box please

      • +4

As ever, on OzB nobody cares if it's legit. They're too stupid to steal it for free, but they'll PAY someone to steal it for them - it's the OzB way!

  • Unless its sold by some it store as a not sor sale but free with purchase as a bonus, have bought a few of those keys, then i would consider it as being dodgy imo

  • +2

If you're a student with email ending in .edu.au O365 is free here (5 device license) http://products.office.com/en-us/student?tab=students

    • Does it expire?

      • It depends on your uni. QUT shut my access to O365 about 6-12 months after graduating. They also shut off my 1TB OneDrive access just over 12 months after graduating.

    • What else does .Edu get?

      • +2

        Apple and Adobe student pricing

  • +12

    Stolen Keys. Do not buy.

  • -1

  • +4

    Mehhhh…

Still using Office 2007. Haven't had a need to upgrade. :)

    • Yes 2007 was great once basic users upgrading from 2003 finally got used to the ribbon. 2010 sucked. 2013 was good also

    • -2

Got a PhD in security awareness I see, nice.

  • Most probably this is special discounted annual subscription offered to employees. Just check here if you are eligible:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/home-use-program

    • +5

Nah, the new Home Use program is no good anymore, it is annual subscription with just 30% off.

      • +1

Some of us bought 2019 outright through HUP. You had to scroll down the page to find the offer. No idea if still valid. Look up the old ozb thread

        • 2019 via HUP died sadly.

  • +5

OP if you want upvotes, just put 'price error?' in the title.

  • Buy these kind of keys if you are ready to install the software immediately.

  • +4

    Just launched seller, don't buy!

  • doesn't let me to add to cart !!!

  • +13

LOL @ paying for stolen software… Just download a pirated copy instead if you're going to go that route….. At least then you're not funding criminals.

  • You guys are nuts. Youre all saying Amazon is a fake marketplace for illegal goods now? As far as I'm concerned, Amazon would be checking this if it was really illegal.

    • you need to get a complaint first.

    • +7

You are nut if you think there hasn't been a fake seller happened on Amazon in the past.

    • +1

uhrmm…there are lots of Nintendo switch pro controllers which are fake and being sold and amazon does not remove them. They can't tell if they are fake until they get multiple reports and complaints…

All microsoft office PLUS keys being sold seperately are illegal and wont work after 6-12months

  • cheaper than HUP!

  • +1

Seller has just launched the shop on amazon LOL

  • Wow, several sellers selling at same price on Amazon,
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/offer-listing/B07VT8CW8R/ref=mw…

  • +2

Illegitimate keys - likely the same as the ones that go for $6 on eBay. Stay away.

  • +1

    just launchedNo feedback yet

  • +2

Grey/Black market key - not worth it

    • -1

Ok you pay $639.00 then, that's probably more worth it for you

      • +1

Or give your money to criminals.

  • +1

It's not eligible for prime, so not warehouse by Amazon and not fulfilled by Amazon.

  • +2

    Waste of time:

Step 1. Buy Dodgy MS-Office Keys
Step 2. Try to install, but fails. Or worse, fails with licence error in 6 months too late to get a refund
Step 3. Request refund from Amazon
Step 4. Wait 3 Weeks for Amazon to refund your money

    Better use of your time:

    Option1: Troll OzBargain
Option2: Watch dash cams Australia on Youtube.

    • +1

$14.98 for use of 6 months is not bad
Tho I do believe this is not legit / legal key for sure
But a friend of mine bought a O365 account from eBay 2 years back
and it is still going strong (5 devices installations via office.com)

      • O365 Account is not the same and sounds like it may have been "O365 Home & Student" if 5 installations via office.com.
There are plenty of Legit ebay items but Office Pro "Plus" or Win 10 Pro Plus are enterprise versions and not for resale so "usually" best to avoid.

      • I hope he doesn't use email with that O365 account he bought because the seller will have full access to it.

        • I asked my friend
he said the seller give him an email and a temporary password to login to office.com
the first time he logged in, it asked him to reset the password
So I believe the seller will not be accessing his account without reset the password again

BTW, my friend is not using the 1TB one drive and the email at all
what is after was the 5 MS office installed in his devices so there's no concern of privacy issues

          • @[Deactivated]: Through the administrator account in O365 you can give another user access to any mailbox without knowing their password and without the user knowing. So there is a real privacy concern there!

    • This isn't fulfilled by amazon, so the refund policy is seller based, not amazon

  • Decision made,
    Do Not Buy

  • +2

I already ordered and paid but sent order cancel request. I got my finger cross and wait.. Dont put this kind of bargain please…

  • +2

If you're going to buy a key that you know is dodgy why not just pirate it?
