          • @AlexF: Got the WI-C310 for $29 on JB HiFi sale. WI-C200 would have been ~$25.

So maybe this SBH56 product should be closer to $15-$20 on sale.

  • Can these be used as a Bluetooth receiver for a car? :)

Anyone with one can confirm you can use this while it is charging at the same time?

  • After reading up on the reviews, it seems the included earphones are a bit fragile for rough users.

The SBH56 has modern features such as HD Voice, BT 4.0 & USB-C port, but overall it lacks the battery-life (6 hours) to get through a full-day.
Additional features are ‘speaker talk mode’ & camera shutter button (which essentially is just the ‘function button’ available on other earphones).

Ordered one unit, should be able to pair with the Cisco desk phones in the office, it will be a change from using contact centre headsets. The specs look sufficient for the job.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered for my note 10+

  • So just to confirm with anyone here, can this thing be used as the 'bluetooth adapter' for wired earphones for example, iphones that don't have 3.5mm jacks?

    • Yes.
But I suspect going by the bundled earphones the power output may be quite low, so with other Earphones volume levels should be fine, but with anything larger like full-sized headphones etc you may have trouble getting decent volume / or experience heavy battery-drain (at adéquate volumes).

  • Is it worth getting these for the headphones alone?

I have the xiaomi piston 2/3/hd, how do these earphones compare?

Just remember the cable is a short J cable which will be too short to reach your pocket.
I just checked the cable is about 70cm long (think of 2x 30cm rulers just to be safe).

      • That's ok, I have a stereo extender cable for that. Moreso the sound quality I'm concerned about

There are some opinions on head-fi.

The last review by yuriv seems pretty comprehensive.

Regarding getting this deal for the headphones alone, other comments in this deal have stated it may be worth it to guarantee a genuine pair.

        • But it's more than the length issue, the microphonics are unbearable

    • Yes, they are great. Easily worth $25 if you can mod them. I wouldn't use them stock. Terrible cable.

If this had FM radio I would buy in a heart beat. I have the older model and use it purely for sporting events to listen to radio broadcasts as digital radio is terrible for live sports, the delay kills it.

  • I've had these sort of Sony smart Bluetooth headphones since mid 2000 when they hard wired stereo ear buds with a little oval shaped microphone with a display on it that showed called name and SMS message details along with FM radio.

Basically a precursor to smart watches etc and were IMHO a superior option to the mono ear mounted Bluetooth wankerphones popular in the day.

Really the value was that you could glance at the device to find out if you should bother to remove your phone from your pocket.

This particular model has lost the most important feature IMHO and the FiiO BTR3 would be a better alternative.

I had the SBH-52 and loved it's multimode features but after someone decided they liked it more than I did it was less relevant as I had a decent smart watch… Apparently this model doesn't have multimode so I don't see any value in it whatsover.

  • Tempted but will resist. ~$15 postage is a killer, and also remembered I already have a blueant 'ribbon' which is almost the same thing and hasn't been used in ages.

  • Well that arrived fast. Smaller and lighter than expected, will probably forget I'm wearing it sometimes. Now to wait the 2 hours for it to charge

    • Now to wait the 2 hours for it to charge

Are you able to use it while plugged in charging?

      • Yep, as long as you can turn it on with the power button.

        • How is the sound quality? Do you recommend it?

          • +1

@ttkc: While the earbuds that are attached have good sound quality, I don’t like using them physically. However the SBH56 accepts my im50 with little to no difference in sound quality which is what I got them for.

For $25 if you need/want to get rid of the cable from phone/tablet to ear and have a pair of cans already then it’s worth it.

        • Thanks, buying it :)

  • Did price increase?

    • Yes price has gone up to $40 even on all other eBay listings.
Even Amazon AU had it for $31, now it’s $41.

      • Just went to buy it and it's $40 everywhere… Are they all drop shipping it from the same place?!

        • My theory, they were made and marketed for a different country.
Sales were slow, so they decided to move all stock to other countries and try and sell them for cheaper.
So yes it is possible there is only one supplier, and so the prices are kind of set by them.

IMO they could be much cheaper, it looks about the size of a small cigarette lighter (going by the 3.5mm port-size in photo) & has short battery-life.
I would say $15-$20 is more of a deal.

Love it, making use of my old but nice pair of wired earphones!
