  • Hi there!
We currently have a similar pool cleaner which is very annoying like a jackhammer…
Is this one quiet? Do you have a video of it working in a pool?
    Cheers

    • +2

When we moved in the one in our pool cleaner was so loud you could hear it in the house. Turned out the previous people had put the adaptor plate that goes in the filter basket the wrong way around so the spring loaded adjuster that controls the flow could not work. Flipped it over and adjusted the flow and it became silent.

The cleaner uses the same diaphragm as a baracuda, which makes it a lot quieter than kreepy krauly style cleaner which have a hammer and are noisier.

    • will this use the same hoese as my barracuda.

      • It doesn't. It uses the same type of hose than most onga suction cleaners (like the hammerhead, bullshark, etc.). Here is a sample of the cleaner's hose

        • thanks, but this comes with 10m of hose?

          • +1

@NotJustChickenDinner: It does come with 10m of hose.

            • @poolspa: Hi Poolspa, I went to purchase using the code but daylight saving time became invalid for us QLD’ers at 11pm. Any chance of extending?

    • is it compatible with baracuda parts , except the hose?

Tried this type (not this one) of pool cleaner before and it got stuck in the corner where my stairs are every time it ran… do I have to get an expensive robotic cleaner that can reverse or is it possible to get somthing cheap which wont have the same problem?

    • Robotic pool cleaners are not the only ones that can reverse out of such a situation. Mechanical pool cleaners like the Zodiac MX8 can sense when they are stuck and reverse themselves.

      • What's the difference between the AX10 and MX8? Is it just the scrubber?

    • +1

Normally a pool cleaner will have a 'bar' (like the kreepy krauly) which keeps it off the wall, stopping corner stick. You can usually work around this with some hose weights and hose length, based on your pool.
Geared cleaner systems work too, and there are cheaper options out there. Unfortunately they break quicker and are more costly to maintain.

    • Try adding an extra "bumper" to the bumper. I cut off a section of old pool hose (about 20cm), split it length-wise and cable tied to the existing bumper. Problem solvered. YMMV

  • what is the recommended pump size?

    • it is suitable for most pumps

  • Just bought 1. Thanks OP, will give it a try

          • +2

      • Had trouble with Coupon, but it came good now. I have placed order with PayPal but the screen is stuck and I have no confirmation email. Any ideas?

        • you need to select shipping method on the top :)

          • @Brisbane1: Doh! Thanks for that.

            • @Houdini: lol all good took me while to figure out i was waiting for confirmation email :)

  • Hi,

I have an above ground pool in my recently purchased house, it came with a similar cleaning device however I believe the pump does not have enough suction power to operate one of these. Do you have anything that works independently with a power source. Just not wanting to spend $1000+ on a robot

    • Robotic pool cleaners are the only cleaners that work independently from the pool filtration system. The Zodiac FX18 is listed at $899 and does floors and walls.

      • if i have got steps on the pool, will robotic do that? or zodiac fx18 or MX 8 or any mechanical pool cleaners can do that also ?

        any suggestion and advise?

        • Quick sweep of the crap off the stairs onto the floor, then let cleaners handle it.

Nothing automatic does well with steps.

        • It depends on your step size, some robotic cleaners like the maytronics dolphin will do your steps if they are wide enough.
Size of the robotic cleaner also matters when it comes to step cleaning also.
But like KenT said, quick sweep onto the bottom of the pool is the most efficient way.

    • The current cleaner is the latest version (2019).
Also, your purchase is covered by our satisfaction guarantee

  • Thanks OP,
Perfect timing. My old pool cleaner is dead.

  • what model is the leaf catcher offered for $30?

  • Has this been discontinued by Davey, it no longer appears on their website?

  • Thanks OP, I grabbed one. Filling our new pool up right now !!

  • I have an Onga hammerhead, used to work well but nowadays i put it on and its good for a short while, then it stops moving. It looks as though the flap is not sitting flush on the bottom. It looks like it is working as it is jolting but it doesnt move. I then have to go and move it and it works for a while and then gets stuck again.

Any ideas? It used to work fine……
