First shared by as a comment in paraneoplastic's expired post. Thought I would create a new thread for anyone who didn't see it.

Basically ask a question about the new GoPro over the live chat. You do not need to ask for the code within the chat (I didn't) but some people did. The one time use coupon was then emailed to the email address I used to start the chat, after about 5 mins. Really good price for a brand new model. Note: the free 32GB SD card is not included when you use the coupon. Free shipping is though. Enjoy!

    I got the code. I tried 2 times saying "hi, im a big fan, got the hero 7, might be interested in upgrading to hero 8 but not sure, a friend got a 25% off code, any chance you could help with that? would push me over the edge to buying." two times, i got the same paste "sorry im not aware of any codes, please follow our promotions page for any updates on promotions"

    then i opened two more livechats and got codes for me and my wife straight away, by not asking for the code, just asking dumb questions and making up hypothetical situations where i own a hero 2 and a hero 5 and do the batteries work etc, should i upgrade, does my waterproof housing work, blah blah.

    they don't give the code if you ask, in my experience, only if you ask stupid questions and are not a "loyal fan" who knows the answers already from actually watching their marketing.

      The invoice is to a Singapore company, so you pay Singapore GST. No Australian ABN, so I don’t think claiming GST back through TRS is an option.

    Dont ask for the code! You will get it at the end. Just say I have a few Q's as I own an older GP. Ask about battery and memory card compatibility, ask about what is gopro plus.

    Mention you are very keen to update.

    If no luck ask if they have a tradeup option.

    My only concern is, has anyone actually dealt with buying from GoPro directly online?

    got one by asking about batteries, memory cards etc. dont ask for the code, they will chat with you (asking what features your keen on) and supply the code following their confirmation that you satisfy as a real "upgrade" or buyer.

    It took me about 3 hours in queue to get an update on my order (eye roll, but self inflicted …)
    So I paid with Paypal (bank account) on 17/10 and they reckon my payment is saying 'pending' on their end, but the money has left my account and I have a Paypal transaction ID. He says to give it another 24 hours and the order should update then ship. Guess I'll be doing that!

    Took some time but got my voucher.
    A few steps to remember: Don't ask for a voucher or mention a voucher. Let them know you have a previous GoPro as the voucher is for "Loyal GoPro Customers". Also, they'll let you know about the code AFTER you tell them they have answered all your questions. Remember to ask if the voucher works on the Australian store so they give you the correct voucher

    The Hero 8 Super suit doesn't work with the new floaty. You need the old floaty that now includes the hero 8 backdoor "in the box". The old floaty + bite mount package doesn't come with the backdoor though.

    Edit: Apparently the Display Mod does have HDMI out, so the rep lead me astray haha. Hopefully I get the coupon then :D

      I was looking into the 'display mod' myself, and upon closer reading I realised you also need the 'media mod' in order to use the display. All up it'd be close to $260 ($129.95 for each mod) to have the front facing screen. I thought it'd be worthwhile to share this info if other people were considering the display mod.

          Yes and no. You can do a free trial of gopro plus to get half price on a lot of accessories, but you can't order the media mod or display mod yet
