Chux Dishwand Handle $2.50, Refills $2.75 (1/2 Price) @ Woolworths

730

If you already have a Dishmatic handle, I strongly suggest you consider this deal.

Dishmatic was the first to market in Australia and I was a big fan of the idea as it means I can wash with extremely hot water without burning myself (I don't like gloves). About 6 months ago, I tried the Chux model however I only got the handle as I had plenty of Dishmatic refills; Chux is "compatible" with Dishmatic refills. I say compatible in the same way the Australian Government says "free speech".

Now is the perfect time to switch dish handle ecosystems and load up on refills. I don't bother with the heavy duty refills as they can scratch teflon; use the non-scratch for everything. Don't bother with trying to use Dishmatic heads on the Chux handle, it will do your head in.

Chux heads have a better sponge, doesn't go a gross brown and is much finer so produces thicker foam, they also have a soft arrow head so they reach corners better and mold around cavities. They also manage dishwashing liquid flow FAR BETTER than Dishmatic which is key in handle features.

They don't often go on 1/2 price either.

Fill this up with dishwashing liquid and keep it in the shower… great for cleaning glass, tiles and chrome while showering!

Lol, I saw fill this up then skip to word shower, and I was expecting 'great for scrub your back'…

Ive got one of these wands (not this brand) and it leaks detergent so its always empty. Am i not suppose to dilute the detergent with water before i put it into the wand. Anyone else have same issue?

        • Yes dilute

Magic eraser (melamine foam) works great in shower.

      • yep, those things are like $6 shipped for a hundred on ebay

Holy shit, OP just convinced me to switch eco systems since I'm down to my last spare Dishmatic head.

Also that's a good idea Smulder!

    • will this refills fit the Dishmatic handle?

      • +1

Assume yes. Would be interested to hear if that works ok.
Dishmatic heads don't securely clip to Chux and have poor liquid flow.

  • These things are great. I got the Vileda one as that was half price when I needed. The sponge has lasted remarkably well and doesn't smell, go brown etc. Refills are cheap too.

After OPs description though, I'm tempted to get this one.

lol +1 for the very persuasive post

  • I actually went the other way a couple of months and never went back. The Chux sponge I had “finished” in like 2-3 weeks whereas the Dishmatic one has lasted over one month so far and it’s still going. Wait for the 1/2 price specials as they’ll be cheaper than Chux’s 1/2 price. The only bad thing is that you can’t stand the wand up.

There you go. I didn't mention but I also think that Chux cleaning pad lasts longer. I guess we have different cleaning styles and things to clean!

    • Was this the non scratch or the heavy duty sponges?

      • +1

        Non-scratch

  • OP, which detergent do you fill up with, regular or concentrate? pro or con?

    • +3

I used to go 50:50 concentrate and water but now go 100% concentrate as you get a thicker foam. It's worth going through more compared to failing the cleanliness test the next time someone uses the pan.

  • Waste of money!
I bought this product and like all the other reviews have stated, the sponge fell off after a couple of washes. I bought a new pack giving them the benefit of the doubt, thinking it was just a faulty batch. I was wrong! The second pack have done the same thing….sponges fall off after a couple of washes. I contacted Chux and were very happy with their customer service as they sent out some replacement products. But…after using the THIRD lot of 3 x pack sponges found they have ALL done the same thing. The sponges just fall off. They are just held on by glue that clearly isn’t a good quality. Save your money people. I have used a cheaper brand for years and had no problems at all. Decided to step up to what I thought was a ‘better quality’ but was very disappointed. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
From one very frustrated and disappointed customer

    Terrible
Sponge feel off after 2 uses… Where was product testing? I have used the 3 extra pack within a week of buying

I bought this a week ago including the 3 heavy duty refills, the product quality was so horrendous that all of them have broken through a few soft washes

    Rubbish
As per previous reviewer, used twice and then the sponge fell off.

    Poor design
I bought this wand and yes, the detergent doesnt ooze out of the wand, HOWEVER, the sponge fell off the wand after 1 use! It appeared to be glued on, which is not acceptable for use with water. Pretty poor design Chux!!

    • Maybe he washes with 120C steam instead of 55C hot water like the rest of us…

    • See my comment on Dishmatic

      • Very concerning, maybe they are not better afterall. I'll update should mine ever fall off. I wonder if it has something to do with the liquid you use?

      • So I pushed my current head longer than I usually would to test this, no sign of glue coming off.
I use water way too hot to get close to touching and at the moment am on some ALDI detergent. The glue issue might be the type of detergent? Not sure what you meant by "finished" but I find the degradation is affected by the type of substances you are trying to clean and how you leave it between washes, i.e. ensuring it's rinsed with plenty of soapy water.

    • I had the same experience….waste of money.they ended up sending me $15 in Woolworths vouchers though.

Highly informative post and comments. Thanks all. This is why we love ozbargain.

  • I prefer using a dish washing machine

      Thanks for sharing

  • I think I got a defective one too. Mine doesn't even have a hole out of the handle for the detergent to come out…

I wonder what's with my luck with moulded plastic products. Last time I got a plastic Jerry can from SCA the nozzle head was sealed.
