So $225 profit if you decide to cancel after 1st month?

    • -1

Potentially more. In my experience Telstra prorated the first month so if you cancel early you'll only pay for the days active.

I will try this tomorrow and cancel the plan as soon as I have the gift card.
Shame it's only 1 per customer. I wonder if I store hop whether they would know?

      • +9

        Can't be that easy?

      • +24

Shame it's only 1 per customer

        Don't be so greedy.

      • Yes they will know. You have to ID yourself for each plan.

      • +1

Gift card not available after 3 months.

    • Sorry I'm not aware of this. I went to a local JB Hifi store today and heard people getting much gift cards for free. But can you easily do this?

  • RTLJ ?

    • +12

      definitely RTLJ

      • +1

        Thanks

      • +9

        What you two are smoking?

        • +43

no idea but he said thanks so hopefully im right lol

        • +4

          "Rolling The Long Joint"

  • Good deal.

  • MBB? Mobile broadband?

    • +11

My Big Black Sim Only with Telstra 100 GB

  • +9

Going by comments the deal is correct no lock in, so sign up to this deal then use the gift card to pay the $199 fee for the google pixel 4 deal

    • but if you sign for this deal , you won't be a 'new' customer anymore , therefore not being eligible for the pixel deal

      • this is mobile broadband sim, so you would think porting in your phone number for pixel plan is different, guess ask before

        • Oh you're right. That's what I'll do tomorrow. Perfect. Basically free phone

  • +3

No need to port, right? New number is okay? Then I'm in…

  • +3

Almost sounds too good to be true with no lock in…

  • -1

The preorder bonus for Google pixel ends today, it would be an amazing offer to combine this with that, oh well

  • Surely cant just be free money?

  • +1

I signed up today, got my gift card and cancelled an hour later. Telstra didn't mention any minimum charge

    • Cancelled via JB or Telstra? Is that within the cooldown period?

      • Telstra live chat

    • +1

      The deal start tomorrow mate

      • I can pm you the SIM and gift card if you'd like to see

      • +8

        maybe his from tomorrow

    • +1

      It said tomorrow

    • So you signed up on the 100gb data sim plan?

      • 75gb data sim

        • What is this 75gb data sim? Is it a Jb Hifi only plan?

        • So you got a different plan than the one advertised here? What's the cost of the 75GB plan?

Do you also have the CIS which shows cancellation fees, etc

          • +1

@unity1: Sorry it is 75p/m for 100gb. I got confused

    • +6

Did you end up paying the 75 still?

      • No

        • isn't this prepaid so you have to pay upfront? or did Telstra refund/credit the money back because you cancelled early?

          • @skido: I didn't have to pay up front. I just posted another pic in this thread in regards to cancellation fee. Check it out

  • This can't be true?

    • The contract does not have a lock in period or ETC.

  • Interesting..

Some days I wonder if staring at ozbargain at night is worth it. I missed out on the drone at Bunnings but.

    • +1

the drone was early morning mate :D

But it is true, most deals of the year come after mid-night. I still remembered last year when Virgin had price error for Sydney-Seoul on Singapore airline, I booked the ticket at 5AM.

      • How much was it?

        • It was about 400 return. I will always remember this late night deal that I missed

  • +2

can be confirmed as i stacked up this data plan deal with the mobile plan, so in total $800 value of jb gift card

    • +1

Is this plan advertised anywhere in the store? I want to see T&C's

    • How did you do it? Which phone as i am looking to get a new phone

  • +1

Newbie question, any credit checks on no lock-in contracts?

    • +1

      Yep

      • +1

        Thank you

      • Does disconnection impact credit score?

        • +2

No unless you dont pay them whatever amount owing

      • Any suggestions on minimizing impact on credit file? Other than not signing up?

        • Pay anything you owe. There's no impact to your credit otherwise.

  • Jesus this is awesome I'm going to give it a shot. haha

    • +6

Are you affirming this with Jesus?

    • +1

Do you expect answer from Jesus?

    • Upvotes to you both!!!

  • -1

Guess I'll be buying a new phone tomorrow 😇

  • Joined today on the 65gb plan to use as home broadband in my 4g router. The extra data here is very tempting.

Wondering if I could jump on live chat and try to migrate to this plan despite getting the larger $500 gift card? I'll give it a crack tomorrow I guess!

Also wondering if this has peace of mind data… that would be a massive bonus!

    • +5

I don't think Telstra can sell the JB HiFi plans…

  • +3

Is it just me or are there a lot of recently joined L platers posting JB deals.

    • +3

It's not just recently, it's been that way for at least a year or two now. Very suspicious

      • -1

Yawn~ is that China behind all of this again?

    • +12

JB Hi-fi found the new way of marketing, ripping off Telstra discreetly as JB Hifi will get paid for each contract, Telstra managers get paid good Xmas bonuses for the increase of contracts caused by this "glitch".

      Summary everyone wins =)

      Did I get it right?

      • +2

        Summary everyone wins =)

Telstra shareholders (yeah, those poor mum's and dad's that bought at $12, was it?) get f***d, yet again.

    • +3

This guy is associated for sure, check out his previous comments and this being his only post

  • I gotta try this one,I wonder what 1 day of plan will cost me? Do O need to pay the first $75 up front?

  • Back to JB tomorrow for another gift card it seems to compliment today’s $500 GC from the $65 plan port-in.

    • Lol, they probably rolled their eyes, here we go again!

  • Damn damn damn I'm overseas till Saturday.

  • how long does this deal last?

    • +11

      probably 9:05 am

      • damn it was 9:01

        • Last for negative 60 mins from 9am to be exact

  • +3

sorry I just couldn’t find this deal from their latest catalogs, or do I just need to ask the salesman for this offer?

    • +1

      Me neither.

    • +3

store rep will ask you for the secret handshake, start practicing you only get one shot then escorted out of store if your wrong

  • +1

Telstra is shooting themselves in the foot

    • +2

It will show up as "xx,xxx" new sign up this quarter with x% growth in mobile customer on some report.

  • Any one know if they do credit enquries on these non-lock-in deals? I know for fact they do credit enquries for 12/24 month contracts.

    • -2

      Yes

      • Why would they need to do a credit check? Unless you are paying the $75 at the end of the first period (ie: is this postpaid or prepaid?)

Perhaps if they were charging for excess data or roaming that might be a reason for a credit check?

        • -2

          Yes

        • I think the question should be is $300 GC worth getting a credit check?

          • +2

@FatTofu: It’s what’s called a “soft” enquiry. They see your score and such but they don’t leave a new enquiry in your file. So you’re not losing anything.
