    X9500G vs R8?

    • -4

One is good. One is not good.

      • Ignore that bloke anarky, R8 is a great tv at that price.

        • +3

Its not when the X95G is available at that price.

That Hisense R8 is an entry/mid level TV with an edge-lit LCD display.

For an extra $500 you will get a Sony TV that is a FALD LCD display, uses the X1 ultimate processor which is what Sony use in their Top End Master Series TVs and a TV that has been rated as having the best colour accuracy of all the TV's out today. Much better value.

No it's not. It's pretty similar to the Samsung RU8000, a brand name TV that's available for a similar price.

Thanks OP bought an R8 to match my Audi R8.

I can vouch for the X9500G. Very good TV, happy with it so far and that's really cheap.

I have the 55" and very often the tv doesn't change channel after pushing the channel number on the remote. Anyone else have this? Very good tv though. HD stations are amazing.

How do these fald tvs compare to oled?

    • +1

Owner here. This is a superb TV in every aspect. The picture is amazing and addictive. It just feels so real, the right amount of that feeling. OLED is pretty good but too good to be true. You can easily tell what's on screen is something never exists in real world.

      • +1

Have you compared them side by side? I’m curious to know as I’m torn between these two

        • +1

I did my friend. I'm not depreciating OLED here, not in any way. OLED is pretty good and it is break through in display technology. But it just feels not real in my eyes. X9500 is the closest one to OLED among all LEDs I've ever seen in terms of picture quality, but saves you the hassle of worrying about OLED dot burn-in and fade out across time. I'm a heavy user of movie and game, and I usually pause it in the middle and may go out for a couple of hours then back on. To me, this LED is the perfect solution. But YMMV, your call.

Im an X9500G owner. Absolutely love it and picked it over getting OLED.

Theres a few people asking about the difference between OLED and X95G and I'll explain the 3 main reasons why I went the X95G in the end.

    1. OLED does the blackest blacks you can get, problem I've seen though is that they are too black and you lose detail in dark objects. There can be scenes were there are black objects on the screen that will look 100% black, which looks great, until you see it on the X95G. Alot of the time black objects will have detail in them that is just lost and blacked out on OLED's. For instance, I was watching a scene where there is a girl dancing on screen in a black dress. On an OLED the dress will look really black, almost like a silhouette, where as on the X95G it will be less black but you can see the ripples and details of the black dress that just don't show up on OLEDs, it just comes up as black. On another scene it was a a rocky creek bed, the underside of the rocks are shadowed and come up really dark and almost black on an OLED, on the X95G you can still see the rock texture on the shadowed side of the rock.

    2. Burn in risk. OLED's come with the risk of permanent image burn in. I game alot, which is not good on screens that can burn in. Games where there is player HUD in the corner that doesn't move pose one of the biggest risks to image burn in. I didn't want to spend overs just for that to happen down the track.

    3. X1 Ultimate chip in the X95G. This is the same processor used in Sonys top end Master Series TVs and the picture it gives out is just immaculate, great colour, great motion.

A Sony FALD 65"TV with X1 Ultimate processor for under $2000 is just awesome value.

1 Main disadvantage I will raise though, blooming. If you have white objects on a black or dark screen the X95G clearly blooms quite a bit. This is non-existent on OLED's.

  • Been looking for the R8 for ages, but had trouble navigating the ebay store to find this deal. Good deal though hoping eBay fixes up their UI

Out of stock 30 seconds after being posted, did they only have 1 in stock?

  • Has anyone experienced the x9500G not being able to find the wifi signal despite a working wifi on other devices. The only fix I have found is turning power off at the powerpoint. Has happened a few times randomly over about 5 months?

Also has anyone gotten the input from media server to work for windows shared videos / kodi? My tv fails to find any files. Probably a "windows blocking access" thing, but I haven't been able to configure it.

Harvey Norman currently running 15% off. If you can grab Harvey Norman discount cards, it will cost you even cheaper.
Let's say you grab 5% off discount cards from AGL Rewards, the Sony 65 x9500G would cost you $2015.

  • I bought this tv recently. Very disappointed that it has no timeshift/record function. Other than that, the picture is nice
