Good deal! Missus hates technology. Managed to get one of these in every room now and she says goodnight to it and it let's her set an alarm and plays a thunderstorm recording until we fall asleep. Good bit of kit!

In something so small (same size as previous) it would likely be something like 5% better sound-quality (and mostly in the bass).
Kind of confused as to Google releasing something so similar to the original.
Amazon released the ‘beefier’ Echo Studio (Google could have done a bigger version of the standard Google Home).
I guess the profits are greater on the smallest model.@zorrt: The Home Max is a large model (probably twice the size of Echo Studio), I was thinking more a ‘beefier’ Google Home.
It has an additional chip to handle offline processing. Whether it'll be like assistant 2.0 I don't know.
If it doesn't roll out to the older model I'd most prob bite the bullet and replace all mine. Voice controlling lights is so slowww….

for what it's worth Spotify just started the free google home mini with a premium subscription in the US again yesterday. Hoping the deal comes to Australia again
