Tried them before, no good short usage life. Duracell is the best.

the Bunnings Varta alkalines that are around $8 for 30 batteries are better value, i use them all the time…

Don't be upset. Many have made this mistake before you.

I've used these batteries before and actually think they're pretty decent. Not sure how they compare to the vartas though

      • LOL tightarse, you are right, we should send a memo for jv's approval before posting anything…NOT

Got to look at the MAH when it comes to batteries.

    • These are alkaline batteries, not rechargeable. Alkaline batteries don't normally list their mAh rating.

Hey you guys should check out costco for Duracell batteries 24pck for 12-13 dollars! Went there yesterday at Auburn, NSW…great for those household items and for those with big families as most stuff is bought in bulk! :D

    • Is it opened yesterday? I thought is today.

Their web site never works for me.

      • Yeah it opened yesterday! but it was so packed so their website was down and you had to register for membership at the store! hopefully it won't always be that packed full of people! :) BUT there were some GREAT bargains IMO… boxer briefs are pretty cheap too for the expensive brands like i got 3 Calvin Klien Boxer briefs for 24.99$ :D

          I got Kevin Krine's

          they sound itchy, lol…

        • they are legit im pretty sure, dont think a place like costco would be selling fakes. there are also hugo boss. LOVE YOU JV! :D

  • Used them before and never again.very very short life.

  • Not using these cheap alkalines ever again, bought some Philips brand from Harvy Norman for my shaver (AAA) and camera (AA). Straight out I get low batt warning and refunded them straight away the next day. If you want cheap battries get from Ikea, they are pretty ok. Or Chinatown, those hotdollar shops Duracell 4 AA for $3

  • Coles still had the 16 value pack of Eveready gold out for $8.79 today (1/2 price) (Melbourne)

  • Unlike re-chargables … None of these batteries will give you that feeling that for a few cents more you are not trashing the environment :P

    • re-chargables use electricity and contribute to green house gases…

      • +5

You've got to look at the bigger picture. There is more embodied energy in making another battery than recharging. Not to mention the disposal "cost" to the environment.

        • i was being sarcastic… >_<

      • Create new AA battery:

Mine zinc and manganese ore for the core, iron for the shell. Extract metals, mix, and package. Transport from China to Australia.

Or… with a AA NiMH battery:

Plug it into a solar battery charger I have sitting in my backyard at the moment.

I know which process creates less carbon dioxide.

        • How much carbon dioxide does each process create?

  • man didnt you guys read yesterdays green guide… why are you promoting disposables… dont you care about the enviroment?!

    • Just bought 4 x eneloop with charger for $18.90

      • eneloop is good.
but the problem about rechargeable is they are 1.2v which isn't suitable for some toys in my case.

  • I know eBay postings are not especially popular here, but this one is worth a look.

20 AAA Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries for AU$22.88 inc air mail.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270659…

I have purchased these (as have 476 other people) and they're genuine. 2024 expiry date. Depending on the current drain of your devices these lithiums can last a lot longer than any alkaline.

I use rechargeables whenever possible, and 1.5v cells when absolutely necessary.

Usage was fine. Comparable to most. Value wise, yep, the Varta or the Ikeas are better value. I use and buy all of them depending on where it is on special and where I am at the moment.

Bunnings also sell a 30 pack or arlec alkaline with a tester for around $8. Bargain and they last quite well as well.

In my local bunnings they are over near the trade desk not with the batteries at the tool section.
