  • Cheap as Chips/Reject Shop/SAM's & can't think of the others all have China brands for around $2-$5, so this is a good deal for a Taiwan made product !

Thanks for your BARGAIN ! :D

+1, great bargain, could always use some extra DVD-R's

Don't plan on being able to read what you wrote on these DVD-R's in 6 months time.

Every time I've bought MPM DVD-Rs they've been CMC discs, the same as almost every brand on shop shelves in this country excluding Verbatim (where they're probably manufactured by CMC with Mitsubishi dye).

Edit: I did see some the other week in Imation-style packaging, so I assume those will be one of CMC, Ritek or Prodisc (all good middle-of-the-road manufacturers). They were charging regular overblown Harvey Norman prices so I didn't buy any to check.

MPM DVD-R has CMC-MAG AM3 code which is the same as TDK DVD-Rs

        Taiyo Yuden where it's at!

        • Show me some Yudens for 10c/disc and I'll be all over them ;)

        • +1

No, they will be all over (at my place). :)

      • If they're a re-badged job from a large OEM producer they should be ok. The only time I've bought bad DVD-R's were ones that were made in India.

There is a limit of 2 per person - and they are quite strict about enforcing this so bring your partner/friends/family for extra packs.

"Hey son, wanna help me buy some DVD blanks?"
"Sure, what's in it for me?"
      "Ice cream"

Later, at the ice cream store, glumly watching the money fly out of the wallet…

"Oh bugg*r, I think it wasn't such a bargain after all"

      :)

      • Better to use blackmail tactics because it is free.

Thank you, great advice Hugh. Could anyone guess why Harveys would be limiting the purchase to 2 per person?

      Choose from:
a)The item is a loss leader.
b)They want you to spend your money on items within the store that actually make profit.
c)Harveys (Gerry) want you to make many regular trips to the store, to buy 2 packs at a time.
d)Gerry has reformed his wicked ways and now wishes to give back to Aussie battlers some of his billions.

      Any other suggestions, dear readers?

        e) If I ran a corner computer shop, I could buy the lot and resell at a profit. :)

      • If option (d) ever held true then the world will definitely end in 2012.

Although if I burn something I end up regretting on DVD-R's, I can't…

    (sunglasses on)

    re-write history.

    YEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

Good deal, although I can't remember the last time I actually burnt something to DVD, what with USB flash drives and portable hard drives.

    • Cheap mass-storage harddrives makes us lazy and we forgo organising and sorting through our data. I once had the same movie duplicated on 3 seperate drives and didn't even realise until I did a thorough cleanup. I tend to backup most stuff to DVD-R and it is all meticulously organised in my collection. I have about 400 blanks that I probably won't use in this lifetime so I'll pass on this.
