Core Powerfoods Frozen Meals 310g-350g $4.50 (Normally $9) @ Coles

241

This is a pretty good deal, considering that they are usually $9 Each.

However, Please ensure you don't pick-up ones that are being recalled.
Recalled products have MOST LIKELY already been cleared by Coles, but just something to keep in mind.

        • haha you made me laugh

  • +8

Good deal but I wouldn't risk the chance of getting salmonella even with the unaffected ones

  • No.

  • +3

    • Good for weighloss lol

  • +6

    Sick meals bro!

  • +8

Hard pass (opposite of what will happen to your food if you get hit by the bacteria)

  • +17

perfect - need to lose some weight quickly

  • +2

Great Deal. Refunded the last lot for 100% profit 🤪

    • Same.

Bought some when 50% off and hadn't eaten them yet. Returned them the other day for full amount refund!!

Damn. Best Before from 05/03/2020 – 04/10/2020 inclusive. That's a huge range of time. Hopefully Coles cleared it already.

    • +1

      They cleared shelves, yes.

  • Tried it a while back, wouldn't recommend them.

  • +7

I've seen these before and didn't even consider buying them - the packaging design is atrocious, IMO it makes them look like pet food.

    • +2

tell me you're serious dude FFS

      • Yup, I'm serious - that is some seriously poor graphic design.

You need your frozen meals to be hidden until the last minute when you extract your frozen mush for lunch?

  • +3

Meal of choice for the poo joggers out there! Whole new meaning to going for a 'run'!

  • How did you find out this company has a recall problem?

    • didn't the OP posted this?

      • I know that, already looked at the page before I commented….just that who goes checking on the food standards website before buying food items posted online or in the supermarkets?
I wondered if Ethso is in the food industry and had received the "memo".

        • -2

if it was a 'real' issue it would have been all over the news… storm in teacup

          • @cobrakai: Must have missed this news cos it seems it was in the press quite a bit 6-7 days ago- http://tiny.cc/b9iqfz

          • +1

@cobrakai: I was one of the lucky ones that got salmonella. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to lose weight! Couldn't eat for 4-5 days and I lost 3kg :D

These sorts of "public interest" items tend to get posted in the Australian subreddit, which I think is where I saw this.

          • +2

@kwchaz: It was in the mainstream news, and was even a question on Have You Been Paying Attention?

            • @puffinfresh: I don't watch TV beyond a little bit of SBS food network at work, so…

        • Was definitely all over the news in Perth.

          • @whitelie: People still watch FTA TV news?

Salmonella is killed by proper cooking.
Obviously people are not re-heating them thoroughly. But how lazy must you be to eat frozen dinners?

    • +3

I found out about the recall problem on their website as I was after the nutrition information for each of the products

  • ain't touching this thing

  • +2

It's probably the safest time to buy it.

    • +1

I’m with you. These ones would have gone through a more stringent process to be approved for sales.

Taste is ok. Not the best. 3/4 meals meet my daily macros. CBF meal prepping @ $4.50.

    46 people around Australia.

They recommend you discard it. However, nuke it long enough and it should be good.

    YOLO.

    • Nuking can be uneven. Better to heat in oven after defrosting in microwave.

    • +1

Seriously though some of the toxins produced by bacteria cannot be denatured by heating or would required heating that would render the food inedible.

  • +3

Clicked for the comments. Not disappointed.

    • no interest in what ever the product is, just came for the comments.

  • +3

Actually wasnt too bad. Better than ufoodz imo

  • Have had these and concur with Jimothy, found them better than youfoodz and frozen so last longer.

Had 2 of the meals already in the dates in question, have 2 now i need to return to coles, but bought via ebay annoyingly. Still alive though haha

    • +1

No proof of purchase required for refund.

      • They still asked me both times for receipt but eventually got refund

  • +1

My freezer was filled with these before the recall, mind you I ate most with no issues. But anyways, as for taste, they can be a bit bland, however, if you look at the ingredients, they are better than youfoodz and mymusclechef. Less preservatives and enhancers.

  • better get meatball from furniture store

  • Yo, these were all cleared out from my local supermarket. They had a sanitation problem with the food.

  • If they threw in free ambulance cover..would be a great deal

  • +1

If they had problems to begin with, I don’t trust this brand at all. Nearly 50 people got sick.

The risk doesn’t justify the “deal”.

  • No stock at all at my local - unsure if its because they were all bought or because they weren't restocked after the recall.
