Looks like a true Windows tablet to me.

    • He probably meant not a true full-fledged tablet i.e. it has an Atom CPU instead of a Core iX or similar.

It's an old netbook with crap graphics.

The GMA3150 can't playback 720p flash, so you'll be limited to 480p. If you're after a basic netbook, it'll do, but it's really showing it's age.

It's roughly equivalent to my netbook, a HP 5102, with an added touchscreen and Win7HP instead of Vista. Of course I only paid $250 for mine.

Plus Windows 7 HP isn't really designed with a touchscreen in mind. For $300 I'd go for it, but at $400, it's not that attractive, IMO.

You didnt read the specs. This is running the later N550 dual core Atom (not your N455) and makes a huge performance increase. It WILL play 720p (you can do it through the CPU) quite easily. Plus its got capability to put an internal 3G card in there since the antenna is there (They go for @$50 on ebay) as well as a USB 3.0 port and multi-touch screen and mousepad! Where's that on your HP?

Also, you can always put on another OS if you dont want Windows 7. In fact, you can put Android on any x86 these days since its compiled for it.

Love to buy this - but got too many netbooks in the house already. Need to get rid of a couple to make space.. hehe

Yep, you're right on the 720p. My mistake. The N550 has better hardware acceleration for video than the N455.

But it's still a relatively slow CPU compared to laptops at the same price.

Alternative for those who want an actual tablet and not a netvertible (as in convertible and netbook)

      $394 + 18 shipping
      http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_90741_ViewSonic_VPAD10S_1…

Unfortunately CPU is only the N455 single core Atom but it does dual boot Android 2.2 and has Tegra graphics.

    • A true Windows tablet = a tablet running Windows 7+ natively without keyboard attached permanently so that it's weight can be reduced greatly if you don't want the keyboard.

      • not sure the keyboard can actually be removed….. I just think it folds around the back.

        • My last post only states my definition of a "true" Windows tablet, NOT saying that this is a true Windows tablet.
That's why I said "this is not a true Windows tablet, but close enough".

    Insanely good deal :)

Heck, it's cheaper than a tegra tablet and out- specs it too.

      • Can you get a fairly recent android on an x86 proc easy? All I heard of was 1.6 donut..
This would be the best deal ever if a fully functioning gingerbread or even froyo can be installed

        • I haven't heard of a new version yet but I think Intel is working on this so there might be one by end of year.

The latest is a Froyo 2.2 build.. should work since it has pretty good support for the Basic Intel Chipsets.

  • So tempted to buy one……. essentially you are buying a the multitouch for about 80-120 dollars..
Also.. if considering how ugly it is too..

You can get the same price laptop for about $300-320… which looks alot better..

HOwever, if you are looking for a multitouch and don't mind the ugliness of it.. REALLY good bargain..

  • If I had the money, I'd hit it!

    Windows 8 anyone?

I would buy one, but can't justify it when I have an Acer Iconia A500 tablet… :(

  • Is it just me or that 1.5kg seem a tad heavy?..

  • Is the seller reputable? So tempted to get one…
    Shipping to Brissy is $22

I have been buying from PC Case Gear for years.
Never had any issues with any of my orders in the past.

  • I thought they stopped making these tablets after the iPad/Honeycomb varieties have completely changed the market.

  • Damn OzBargain.. I'll sell my three weeks Transformer and get it replaced by this one.

    • +1

and I'll have this tablet dual booting with Honeycomb..

  • -2

resolution seems a bit low though

    • +2

what are you talking about? 1366x768 for a 10" screen is definitely not low at all. In fact it's much better than most tablets out there (e.g. ipad 2 etc).

      • absolutely. sorry i mistakenly read the resolution wrong. thanks for clearing that up.

  • This "sale" has been up for a month and it isn't going anywhere.

The cpu is fairly weak, it won't be able to keep up with most touch-based ui with great responsiveness.

    However it's fairly cool otherwise.

  • -4

    It looks kind of ugly.

    inb4everyonenegsme

  • anywhere to price match this?

  • why would you put android on this? just load it to dual boot win7 and ubuntu 11.04.

awesome for the price and the specs. only thing that would hold me back would be battery life..

  • just got it and is much much better than what i expected great machine
