MEE audio / MEElectronics Early Black Friday: Matrix Bluetooth Headphones Random Grab Bag - US $49.99 + $13.54 Postage

52

Dear OzBargainers,

Mike here from MEE audio again, sharing our upcoming Early Black Friday "MEE What?" Random Headphone Promotion.

For those who have never participated in one before, the "MEE What?" is a way for us to hit some of our lowest-ever pricing on select products for the holidays, and hopefully to add a little fun and anticipation to the process for everyone.

The promotion page can be found here. Here's how it works-

For US $49.99 (no coupon necessary) you will receive one of the following headphones, selected at random at time of shipping in accordance with the listed odds:

  • Matrix3 Low Latency Bluetooth Headphones (Reg. Price: $79.99) – 40%
  • Matrix Cinema Low Latency Bluetooth Headphones w/CinemaEAR audio enhancement (Reg. Price: $119.99) – 40%
  • Matrix Cinema ANC Low Latency Bluetooth Headphones w/Active Noise Cancellation and CinemaEAR audio enhancement (Reg. Price: $149.99) – 20%

Up to 3 "MEE What?" can be purchased per order.

All of these headphones support aptX, AAC, and aptX Low Latency Bluetooth audio codecs. AptX Low Latency is designed especially for watching video content, as it prevents the dreaded Bluetooth lip sync delay. We also carry compatible aptX Low Latency BT transmitters.

The Cinema and Cinema ANC also have our proprietary CinemaEAR feature, which lets the user cycle through different audio profiles at the touch of a button and includes, for example, "Clear Voice" mode, which makes dialogue in movies easier to hear over background sounds. The Cinema series are the best-sounding full-size headphones we've made to date.

Shipping to Australia is $13.54 for a single unit and $22.33 for 2-3 units. Delivery times vary but are typically between 10 and 20 business days for standard shipping. FedEx shipping is also available and delivers in a few days.

Unfortunately this promotion is impossible to replicate on Amazon AU for those who don't want to do international shipping, but I've lowered the price on each of the Matrix on Amazon AU models by 25% just for the duration of this deal there as well (there's only a few of each in stock).

As always, I will gladly answer any questions as best I can in the comments below. I can also be contacted by private message or by email at mike(at)s2einc(dot)com

Thanks for reading!

We don't use USD. What's the price?

So for about $93 AUD shipped I have a 40% chance of getting something worth $89, a 40% chance of getting something worth $120, and 20% chance of something worth $150.
Doesn't seem like a great deal if I have a 40% chance that I'll paying more than what I can get the item for on it's own. This is essentially a competition with a 60% chance of "winning" and a 40% chance of loss.

    • If shipping was free you'd at least break even (give or take) . Shipping kills this deal for Aussies.

    • I'm going to neg this since 'winning' the bottom-tier headphones is an inflated price.

    • The AU$89.99 price on Amazon AU is temporary and a part of this promotion. It is not the regular price. Didn't think there was a downside to giving people who don't want to wait for international shipping an alternative.

      • You might want to edit the (Reg. Price: $79.99) bit then.

      • It's still the value of that headphone right now, so if you're comparing values when deciding to do the 'grab bag gamble' it's the value you should put on that headphone.
If those items and prices were the deal, not the grab bag, then it might be worthy of an upvote (or at least not worthy of a neg).

Technically the grab bag is an okay deal if you don't care which headphone you get, as the expected value ($114) > cost ($93), but I just don't think it's worth it. Not negging the deal though.

  • More like a gamble than a bargain

Theoretically this is a good deal, but unfortunately OzBargainers like to know exactly what they're getting for their scant dollars. I like Mee headphones but am not sure this one will be popular.
