      The questions required would be
      Is ram expandable? Only 8 or 16 (remove old 4gb?)

      What low profile graphics can fit in (power supply supported higher spec?)

        but if you spend too much upgrading, might as well get techfast 3200g build for 470 and sell the rx580 for 180 = 290 , performs similar to 1030 gddr5

            the problem is when you add in
            -low profile gpu e.g 1050
            -extra ram
            -ssd

            the cost adds up to close a techfast pc
            but much less powerful due to the gpu

              There is no graphics card.
              If you do want 3D shoot-em-ups, then get the techfast.

      DisplayPort is just as common and preferable in offices. A simple DisplayPort to HDMI cable will fix that.

          DVI lacks audio. DP and HDMI are both extensions of DVI which include audio.

    Great deal, I bought 3x 9010s and they have all been working dependably for a while now. 1 is used as a HTPC and is near silent. Never had any driver issues and performance has been great, admittedly with an SSD and 8GB RAM.

      can the 9010 play 4k/1080p hevc + HDR 10bit smoothly?

      yeah the 4gb of ram and no ssd would make this system quite slow and not very usable with windows 10.

        No, built in graphics doesn't support 4k, nor HDR. You'll need at least a GT1030 for that.
        You might be able to decode 1080p HVEC/H265 on an i5, but not 4k without support from a hardware accelerated GPU like a 1030.

        Sorry, a bit late, but as opt said - no 4k output, no HDR either. Paid ~$200 for the 9010 with 8GB RAM and put a 120GB SSD in there (<$30 now).

        I originally used the 9010 as a HTPC with a 1080p panel. I've now upgraded to an LG OLED so it still gets used as as an Emby server and does a very good job of that. No transcoding at all though.

I'm not quite sure if the integrated graphics of this (Intel HD Graphics 4600) would meet the minimum requirement of the sims 4's video card : NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or ATI Radeon X1300 or Intel GMA X4500?

      Friend, it should be fine. Those gpus are older than this machine and the gma x4500 is an igpu, a lot weaker than the one on this. Still like others have said an extra 4gb (not so much for sims but other tasks) and an ssd would go a long way in this build.

          You can definitely add 4GB RAM (or more), you may find used stock off eBay is the cheapest place.

          Graphics card can be upgraded to a limited range of low profile cards which don't draw too much power from the inbuilt PSU. Certainly achievable and others have done so.

      Just use something like AOMEI Partition Assistant (Free version) to migrate the OS from the HDD to the SSD, no need to reinstall.

          I believe you need PC3-12800 RAM for this, a 4GB stick is around $35, and 8GB around $55. Search in staticice, plenty of sellers have 4GB sticks.

          An SSD is also a must these days. Get a small ~120GB one for the OS and frequently used apps, then use the already included HDD for your data. A 120GB SSD costs around $30.

      Absolutely, even without a RAM upgrade.
      If you were to upgrade, I'd swap out the HDD for an SSD before looking at RAM.

      You can easily upgrade this, just lift the hatch it put it in -
      A 4GB stick is roughly $23 USD (~$33 AUD) from crucial.

          I replaced the DVD Bay with a 2.5" drive slot thing… use a 120gb SSD for boot only so I can keep my main HDD in too

    A word of caution. The last place I worked had a couple of clients with these in their fleet and the staff hated them. The performance is dire. You'll want to double the RAM and swap the HDD for an SSD as an absolute minimum. Video card if you want to play a game, ever.

      It really depends on what you want to do with it.
      An SSD would certainly make it more responsive. 4GB is enough for browsing/office tasks.
      I agree about gaming, you'd need a GPU unless you're running retro games.

        I picked one of these up for $50 with a 120GB SSD. Added another 8 GB RAM (12GB total) and a GTX 1050 Ti graphics (low profile) card and this thing handles everything I throw at it including 1080p gaming on medium/high settings with modern games 60fps. If your sole purpose is for gaming your better off with a console though.

      If you replace the corporate windows build and do a clean install an i5 Gen 4 is a rocket. Add an 4gb ram and SSD and it will do anything except gaming.

      Doesn't have an HDMI port, but you can get a cheap display port to HDMI adaptors from eBay. However, if you want to run your TV @4K then you'll need to add a low profile graphics card as well. Doesn't have built in Wi-Fi either, so you need to get a USB Wi-Fi adaptor, and finally at least another 4GB of RAM. But even with those upgrades this will be still considerably cheaper than building or buying a new comparable PC.

    I bought this for $269 last year, with 8gb RAM. Threw an SSD and 1050ti in there and it's a perfect kids gaming PC, and good for a bit of photo editing. It's quiet, reliable and no issues with Windows drivers, plays Portal 2 full graphics and Forza looks great too.

    Only bummer is no Bluetooth or WiFi built-in.

    I'm looking for a work PC that will be used for the following:

    • Web multi-tab browsing up to 6-8 tabs simultaneously
    • Word processing
    • Multiple users logged in, up to 4 at a time
    • Very occasional spreadsheet work and basic photo processing

    We are currently using a Dell laptop with 8GB RAM, Windows 10, an AMD A6-9200 processor, and a mechanical hard drive. This computer is and has always been very slow performance-wise (e.g., even loading pdfs takes considerable time).
