Always tempted by this until i do the sums.

Currently paying $25/month with Aldi. $40 (comparative saving) x 12 month = $480. So would be $80 worse off by switching.

Not saying this isn't a deal - just suggesting people compare with their current mobile plan and whether the $65 telstra plan has enough non-cash benefits to switch.

    • Do U get 60gb per month with ALDI?

      • +8

Does HE need 60gb per month?

        • +2

Nope. 25GB per month, plus rollover data is just fine.

          • @Lunchguy: Aldi coverage sucks imo

            • @Supercool: Works everywhere I need it to but obviously may not for everyone

            • @Supercool: They use Telstra's network from what I understand. The only time I (Aldi plan) get a dead zone is when passing into SA from VIC, and my partner (Telstra plan) gets it in the same spot too.

              • @Lan Mandragoran: They may be based off Telstra's network but this does not mean they have the same coverage as Telstra. These usually cheaper carriers only rent or pay for use of a few towers which service particular locations (which would usually be fine unless you get out and about)

                • @BrokeB-tch: Yep, it's just Telstra Vs Telstra wholesale. Most would never notice the small percentage of coverage difference.

              • @Lan Mandragoran: I go remote a fair bit

          • @Lunchguy: The rollover and built in international minutes are keeping me with Aldi.

      enough non-cash benefits to switch.

      Free STAN for 3 months
      Free Foxtel Now
      Free Kayo
      Free Google Home mini
      Cheap movie tickets
      Cheap footy tickets
      Free AFL live access
      etc…

      • +5

Can you please provide more info on this JV? how does one claim these things? Edit: Figured it out, Telstra plus.

        • I'm dumb and or ignorant, tell me!

      • Free home mini??

        • Yep, when I joined Telstra plus they game me enough free points to redeem a free google home mini which was on special at the time…
There's always a couple of things on special that need less points than normal.

      • Kayo is only free for 1 month on silver tier and 3 or 6 on gold.

How do you get Foxtel Now for free? I cant see this listed anywhere.

        • -1

Kayo is only free for 1 month

I redeemed 2 months Kayo for $2.50 per month.

How do you get Foxtel Now for free?

About a year ago I got Foxtel Now, basic + drama free for 2 years… 1 year to go…

      • Can I get these benefits of I have Telstra home internet?

        • You just need a Telstra service to join Telstra Plus.

The more you spend, the more points you get.

The offers you get depend on what tier membership you are on.

    • You are savings yourself $480 gift card / vouchers . It’s just marketing gimmicks to draw and make people go and spend at jbhifi - nothing is a free gift in oz !!

  • +2

    Telstra dont learn, do they.

    • +1

I thinks it more like JB dont’t learn.

I would assume Telstra pays JB a kickback for the new connections.

I would also assume JB are footing the bill for the gift card.

Telstra is allowing people to change out of this plan relatively easy.

      • +3

Lol bet they are not. Ive tried 🤣🤣

      • I thought the last time this kind of promo ran, someone said that Telstra now see that the plan was a JB specific plan (with the associated voucher) and will not allow you to alter the plan because of this? - someone else might be able to chime in

        • Yeah loophole has been closed unless you're lucky enough to win the lotto find the one clueless person on Telstra chat that will allow the change without ETC.

Was happy enough to get basically a free Hisense TV 6 months ago, and have gone back for $500 off the missus new iPhone.

Personally I don't mind the plan anyway so happy to see it out this time around.

    • +1

Those who have been knowing this loophole since early this year, probably already earn $10k or more if they are brave enough.

  • -1

Can anyone confirm if this is for the month to month plan?

I just finished spending my $400 gift card from the previous deal yesterday

    • +4

      Telstra 12-Month Post Paid

      …?

      • -1

Sorry wasn't sure if this was like the good guys deal where you could sign up and cancel immediately.

        • If it says "12 months" or "24 months" then it's not month to month.

you could sign up and cancel immediately.

You can do that with any contract, but may or may not come with a penalty/break contract fee.

  • Anyone bought a TCL plex? I’m tempted… looks like a decent phone for $499

    • lol. iphone 11 pro max brah!

  • I'm waiting to have been ported out for 30 days (about 8 days away) to port back in to this deal (which work will be paying for so it's free) and get myself a Pixel 3 with a Mobileciti price match.

Anyone think/know if 30 days will be long enough to port back in without being detected?

    • Varies person to person but I've ported out for 4 hours before porting back in. You could always try, worst is they tell you to come back in 8 days.

      • I was thinking more about the script they have that searches for people who have ported out of Telstra less than 30 or 60 days before porting back in, and then charging them the discounted amount which in this case is $400. Would be a nasty surprise to get caught and charged that.

        • +1

Have you ever heard of this actually happening? They usually get a little box on their screen at the POS showing if the service has recently been with Telstra, but that gets cleared on a semi-regular basis (anywhere from hours to weeks) once you port the number out. Shortest time out I've seen first hand was 2 days, but many on here have detailed ITOO hours. Can't see how anyone would allow themselves to be slugged with a $400 charge before signing the contract, or afterwards if it wasn't part of the contract.

          I'm calling BS.

  • I’m on Telstra PrePaid. Am I eligible to get this deal?

    • Interested in this deal, but I don't see the bonus soundbar. Where do you see this?

    • Nvm, it's soundbar instead of gift card.

  • -2

Get this cancel to get the $400 for free?

    • Need to swap to the month to month plan first

  • +1

$500 gift card then we can talk

    • +6

Eftpos gift card, then we can talk.

    • +2

They had this deal with a $500 gift card around 2 months ago. Why didn't you talk?.

      • +5

He probably did. He wants it again

  • +1

When I check the link, I don't see any reference to the 12month plan with bonus gift card. Only the 24 months has the bonus gift card of 500 for purchased over 999 or 300 fot under 999.

    • Did you read the OP

    • +1

As I stated it is no longer on the website.

I called JB and they confirmed. I went in store and there are signs up in the mobile phone area

I signed up yesteray (having left Telstra 2 months ago foe this deal - used a Scoopon $8 amaysim deal). You receive the 400 voucher as soon as your number ports over. Yesterday mine took 10 minutes to port, but it can take up to 24 hours

I think God Guys have the same deal, but its no longer advertised.

T&C's said ends 13 November *but may be extended

      • Apologies, I didn't read it thoroughly

      • Damn just saw the end date. I'm not at 30 days out for another 8 days. Reckon it'll still be offered then??

        • just go in and try. The guy asked me how long I'd been off Telstra. Just say over a month and see what happens. Worst case, it rejects

  • +1

I think most online chat agents have known the loophole. I tried 10+ reps, all of them informed me that the plan was under JB HIFI which could not be waived the ETC.

Good luck for those who wants to earn the free giftcard

    • What happens if I then want to upgrade to $80 plan? Do you reckon they will still ask for the ETC?

      • That’s the question I’m wondering. I’m probably gonna get myself an iPhone 11 on plan soon, wanted to be cheeky and sign up to this first then add the MRO of the iPhone or change plans to the iPhone a week or two later.

      • When saying "upgrade to $80 month to month plan", they would check your current plan. Then most of them should tell you there would be ETC.

    • I was put on M2M when I went on the online chat to ask about Volte/Wifi calling as I couldn't get it on my phone when I ported over recently with the $500 gift card.
Was told by agent that the JB plans don't have that option and they offered to switch me to the M2M plans. Confirmed that there was no ETC and have received bill to reflect this
      So this may help others.

      • You just got lucky. I tried that with s10e deal. They simply said they will fix volte/wifi calling. After half an hour, it started working.

  • +1

wish they had a similar deal for the $45/month plan. I don't usually use more than 30GB per month so i can justify spending that extra $20 per month… :/

    • +1

20x12 = 240. You'd be in front still with the $400 gift card.

    • can't*

  • Bring back the casual plan with "min 12 months cost". :)

  • Quality deal, just signed up and ported my number over in 10mins. Don't overthink it.
But try NOT to overthink which phone to get. Too many choices of iphones right now.

    • iphone 11 or 11pro… :(

  • Hmm. My current Optus plan has just expired, $40 for 40gb. $25 extra for 12 months is $300 so I'd still be in front. Plus the extra data…

    • Do you need the extra data though?

    • and does that extra money in which "your in front by" carry the same value as JB gift cards. If you buy from JB a lot well played

  • Is it worth to get it now or wait for $500 gc deal?

  • I signed up to this. Got the s10e and claimed the buds. And sold the handset for 740. Fingers crossed i can drop to a 45plan and im way way infront compared to optus and their bullshit.

  • -1

So they have any promotion for the $45 plan?
I managed to port out from the $65 S10e plan but would go back to the $45 plan of there was a signup bonus

  • +1

Does anyone know if Telstra is still offering a $10 per month discount via LiveChat with this?
