Ummm, Bitcoin makes it anything but transparent! By design.
just use the HERE WeGo, free + offline map. developed by Nokia. sold to big German car makers. probably the only thing made by Nokia still good today.
Anyway, it has offline maps for the whole globe (Wifi download is quick), and all the functions you need. offline calculation and rerouting is quick. I've used it on trip to EU, no complaint.
Do either of these have live traffic?
It's the killer feature of Google Maps for me.
Here WeGo has, but requires data connection: either Wifi or mobile data

Osmand has lots of missing street numbers, Poi information etc. Looks promising, but still has a long way to go
Use it for loading map files for trail running. Just the free version though.
