  • Will this work on my back?

    • IF you've got a mirror on your roof, then yes.

    • This Panny is more suited for face (stubble to a few days' growth). You're better off getting a dedicated body hair shaver for your back.

Will this work on my back?

Sounds like you need a Victa!

      • Bad reviews.

  • +4

Panasonic is the best brand for shavers
Same as Phillips in electronic toothbrush

    • +1

Definitely, I've tried them all and the Panasonic is the pick of the brands!

      • +1

Agreed. I found Panasonic shavers are really good for asian whiskers.

  • +2

Please, please do not forget cashback:

Amazon(shopback.com.au) - 11% on Health & Personal Care, Personal Care Appliances, Luxury Beauty (was 7%)

  • +1

Damnit. Paid $195 on Amazon the other week.

    • How interesting. It is up to $203 today, which funnily enough equates to a 4% increase in price, which funnily enough equates to the increase in cashback they're giving today.

So now Amazon is price jacking as well!

  • Anyone know how this compares to Philip's or Braun series 9's?

    • +1

Braun is slightly better, Philips is about the same (a bit more comfortable to shave the top lip)

They all great and all pretty much the same. For this price it's a no-brainer.

    • I have fairly sensitive skin. Panasonic is the only brand that works for me. I have had this shaver for a couple of years and just replaced the blades and foil and it's like new again

  • +3

Thanks got 1… been looking out for a deal in a shaver as my Philips is close to 10 years old on its original blades lol … I struggle to grow facial hair hahaha… only need top shave once a week.

    • I've got one as well - bought it when our dollar was $1.10 USD aggges ago (might have a different model number, but looks the same as this) I use it about 5 out of 7 days a week religiously.
Early Xmas present for myself :D

  • Been looking for a new shaver for a while now, thanks! My current Philips shaver only lasts around 1 min after charging… even if it's not turned on..
signed up for prime + cashback as well! Also using the membership to watch The Boys! YAY

  • Sorry I'm new to reading the fine lines. Doesn't this one work out to be cheaper:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JWP8F3I/ref=ox_sc_act_t…

It's showing about 109usd including postage.

Which equals to about $160 AUD. Excluding the 11% cashback.

    • Doesn’t include tax mate

    • $119 USD is the final price including tax.

  • So how would you rate it for cutting hair?
Oops. Just noticed it's a shaver.

    • +1

If the hair is less than 1mm long, it would be great.

    • I shave my head, and own this shaver. It certainly cuts close enough for the job, but doesn't do it as quickly as a cartridge razor, for me at least.

That said, I've never used a better shaver on my face. Pair it with a good shaving cream (I like Proraso, but anything that's not in a can is a good start), and it gives me a wonderfully close shave. Much better than I can achieve with a cartridge.

  • I have this one which is great got it for $109, would the charge cable work on the 5 blade US model?

    https://www.shavershop.com.au/panasonic/3-blade-eslt2n-elect…

    • Don't know - if you show a picture I can compare it visually to mine, if you like:)
OTOH a converter plug is pretty cheap if your old cable doesn't work!

      • cheers, got one will work it out when it arrives, too good a deal to pass up. thanks.

  • +2

    Here's another thing I didn't need but bought T_T.

  • Does cashback work on this when its from Amazon US?

    • I'm curious, thus far no tracking from Shopback.

I did go through Amazon Australia tho, and searched for the product and it came up so I don't see why it wouldn't track as it's part of Prime shipping included.

  • Awesome deal, great time to start my free Prime trial.

If Shopback tracks, it's around $150.

    I currently spend $120+ a year on blades. 👍👍👍

    • Cant you just use a standard US to AU plug to charge this?

    • It "looks" right, but why bother?
It comes with a cable. Then a cheap USA to Australia converter is all that is needed.
      Search on Amazon or eBay.

    • In case it helps, this is the cable that came with the Panasonic, and the adapter that I use.

      https://pasteboard.co/IG9O2PJ.jpg

      • Ok, got a link, is it a travel adapter?

        • travel adapter

Yes, that is what you want!

  • Tossing up between this and the phillips one blade, I currently have a phillips Aquatouch and it takes me 30min+ even when it fully charged to get a somewhat respectable shave.

Would any more experienced shavers out there care to comment on what would be best to get fast decent shave?

    • I used a Phillips for last 20 years, the good ones too, Panasonic are better even the cheap one I linked above, wouldn’t go back. Only found out as my wife got one for her father and I tried it first 😀

    • 30 minutes? Unless you're getting every single spot that sounds like the shaver isn't doing its job. This could be the shaver cutters need cleaning, replacing or lubricating, the style of shaver isn't suitable for your skin and/or hair, the motor isn't running at full capacity or technique. I only shave every 3-4 days and I don't really care how close a shave I get, but, I'm done in just under ten minutes (including pre and post shave).

I use a Braun series 5 which has done a decent job for the price. From all accounts the Panasonic blades get the closest shave, however, replacement foils and / or cutters are quite pricey compared to others. The 5 has got me a better shave than my series 3 however it does struggle at a few places Under the neck but I am not fussed with it. A friend has the oneblade and reckons it's amazing- I don't think it gets as close as my series 5

    • I have OneBlade, you need to replace Blades every 6-7 months based on 2-3 shaves a week

It gives me a good shave, but I have to finish with a razor personally.

  • I can vouch for this. I have two of them. Very close shave.

  • How does warranty work for this?

  • Here’s another good option for those who want local, at less than $100 + delivery and scored higher in Choice‘s review.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Panasonic-3-Blade-Esst29-Ele…

  • Great shaver!
Replacement blades are a bit expensive (>$80), but can last a year or more.

    • +1

I'm still using the original blades on my $59 Panasonic ES8103S I got back when the dollar was at parity. Am I doing something wrong?

      • I got the same deal way back when. :) replaced the foil last year.

      • Me too. Nothing's wrong with it and still runs perfectly.

      • Oh thank goodness, and you guys.

    • Does this vary on usage? $80 does seem steep considering.

  • Is the price displaying as $203 for anybody else now?

    • +1

      Yes for me as well.

  • FWIW, Shaver Shop regularly have this on special for around $200. I've had to use their warranty on mine, and their service was excellent - swapped it out for a new one on the spot. For the price difference, I'd lean towards buying locally..

    That said - fantastic shaver!

    • You sure it's this exact model? They currently have a $350 4 blade for $199 and this model is listed at $499 which to sell at $200 would be 60% off which seems like a much larger discount than given on Panasonic shavers from SS.

      • Yep, I'm absolutely sure. They seem to sell them for either $500, or $250 on damned-near alternating weeks. They can also be further discounted by using an ebay 20% off code when they're already reduced.

I've bought two of them now (one for myself, one for my Dad) this way.

        • +1

          Yeah, $250 sounds closer.

However, if cashback works this would of cost me $150

I think Amazon will still cover warranty and Panasonic.

  • Price is $203.06 for me also

  • Will this work for Brazilians.

  • I've had one of these for nearly three years now and it's excellent. I had purchased the four blade model not long before and that was still great too but this five blade model has a decent amount more cutting power.

  • I have a Braun Series 9… was looking at a deal on the Philips Series 9000 Prestige so I could compare the two. Now I read all these positive comments on the Panasonic and want to get all 3 to compare side by side! My girlfriend is gonna regret getting me to use electric shavers - lol

    • How do the Philips and the Braun compare?

      • I used to always buy Philips Shavers - my last was the top of the range Philips Sensotouch 3D. I then bought the Panasonic ARC4 model (4 blades) and was impressed at the reduction of irritation my neck (I shave dry for convenience). The downside is, that foil shavers (which the Panasonic 4/5 blades are) take longer to shave with.

  • Did the price changed showing $203.06 for me

  • Shopback hasn't tracked yet, anyone else?

  • Just bought one last night. NEver used an electric one before… Do I just simply run it up and down?

    • Pretty much yes. Obviously when doing your neck, tilt/angle your head to pull your skin tight, just like you would if shaving with a razor.

      • Awesome, do i need to worry about wetting the hairs or not? I tend to wet it with a razor but never tried anything dry-shaved

        • Good question - I prefer to shave dry. If you are prone to irritation, try wet shaving (you'll need to use oil or a suitable foam) though. Don't wet your face/hair with water and then try. It doesn't work very well.

    • Also do the most difficult and sensitive parts of your face first. For most this will be the lower neck area.

      • Awesome, do i need to worry about wetting the hairs or not? I tend to wet it with a razor but never tried anything dry-shaved

        • I shave 'dry' as that's one of the reasons I use an electric. I do still use a pre shave oil and after shave balm and get pretty good results. Nothing to compared to a regular razor, however, I also don't get cuts, razor rashes and pimples.

  • Amazon tracked, $16 or so.

Basically $150 for this, awesome price.

  • I must say, I AM IMPRESSED! It arrived today! I think I ordered this 4 days ago? I can't believe how quick it was shipped here!

  • I have a spare one, still sealed for sale.

    • +1

PM me pls with price and pickup area or post

      • PM sent mate.

  • Mine arrived very fast… but.. battery totally dead.. trying to charge now

  • Got mine today, 7 days to North coast NSW, Australia Post taken that long from VIC. Will be interesting how it compare to the 3 Blade ESLT2N i have.

    • That will be interesting to see in terms of the comparison. I had the 4 Blade version before this and didn't notice a significant difference going to the 5 blade - just slightly more cutting power.

      • +2

Have tried it now, i have fairly thick beard so its more powerful and faster too. Sent my 3 blade to my son in NZ. For anyone interested i asked on chat about a AU power brick/lead and they credited me $20 to get one.

        • Sorry, did you ask Amazon online chat service? I only have email service/call service as options for contact?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: online chat, they gave me $15 for a charger and i mentioned there was no cleaning brush like last one i got and he gave me another $5 lol. Amazon are great for this kind of stuff they will throw $$ at you to keep you happy.

        • will a cheap US to AUS adaptor not work?

          • @zxblood: yeah i got one off ebay too and works fine, $2.99.

  • I have a spare brand new unit, sealed if anyone is interested. I am based in Vic but happy to post. PM me.
