  • awesome price and spec.

  • Yep, great deal

  • The picture in that listing is incorrect.

This is what it should be:

    http://www.notebook.gen.tr/img/modeller/HP-Pavilion-DV6-3000…

Good deal considering it has a blu-ray burner combined with 8GB Ram, i7-2 Quad, and a dedicated mid-high end GPU.

The DV6-3xxx and DV6-4xxx are probably one of the most customisable notebooks in my experience (i.e. cheap parts available: backlit keyboard $20, 2.5" 12.5mm hard drives can actually fit in these series).

However it does have a horrible trackpad texture (a clear screen protector on top of it will fix the issue though).

      Hi Hirokuro,

The picture shown in your link is a dv6-3xxx series, the one we are selling is dv6-4008tx
      thanks

      • What version of Microsoft Office is included? Is it just the trial version?

        • correct ozhunter, it is trial version

        • The one included is only a starter version (like a trial version but permanent with alot of functionality missing from separate office suites).

      • +2

        Nope your incorrect.

The one I posted is for the DV6-3000 / DV6-4000 series:

        DV6-3XXX = First Gen i3, i5 and i7
        DV6-4XXX = Second Gen i5, i7

Both use the same Agento Blush chassis.

The picture in your listing is for the Dv6-6000 series which replaced the DV6-4000 series due to faulty chip sets. From what I understand, some retailers received manufactured refurbished models (with the issue rectified) and are selling them at drastically reduced prices (for instance this same model was going $799 — search OzBargain and Whirlpool). From this fact, I deduce that this computer up for sale is either a refurbished model or it's brand new but has the faulty sandy bridge chipset.

        • thanks for your information. I will change the picture of it

But i can guarantee that is a new model, comes with local Australia HP warranty

        • Hirokuro, thanks for the information.
Before I get one of these, I would like to understand more about the chip sets issues.
So what faulty will caused by those chip sets in DV6-4000 series?

        • (If memory serves me correct) The affect of the faulty chipset will cause the sata bridge (your USB/e-SATA ports including the connector to the hard drive and DVD drive) to deteriorate over time and cease functioning. A recall was made for these products (that includes this model) back in Febuary in exhange for a complete refund. .

However, if you need more details just look it up on HP/Intels website or various other discussion forums such as whirlpool.net.au.

        • Thanks Hirokuro.
I did some searching on the Internet and knows the story now.

          Reference to http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1735792
The HP DV6-4008TX should have a re-work since the chipset issue.

I also found that graysonline is doing a better deal ($799 + shipment) on that model as well:
          http://www.graysonline.com/retail/bn-ld947par/computers-and-…
graysonline do mention on there web regarding the re-work issue as below:

          Condition
Due to a recall announced by Intel earlier this year, these HP notebooks have been re-worked with new Intel B3 stepping 6-Series Chipset Motherboards. These have been expertly installed by an Authorised HP Repair Centre on behalf of Grays Online.

A complete refurbishment was not required, as these items have not been used or sold to end user customers. However some units may have been used for display purposes prior to Grays Online receiving them.

  • wow - that price include MS Office as well!

and JB is selling for $1999 http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/laptops/hp-…

    • was selling them. This price/product only lasted 2 weeks on sale due to the faulty chipset and have never been for sale since then.(it was soon replaced with the newer DV6-6000 notebooks).

But it seems to be $899 (delivered to Melbs) here:

I won't be buying from CWorld.
I was a customer a few years back when they went bust. They were totally unprofessional and made promises to me and other customers which they didn't keep.
See this whirlpool thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=839556&p=… on the whole debacle.
They've since reoponed with another family member at the helm.

      Hi Gnarly,

      We are Computer World.
I have no idea about the cworld mentioned about there, we do not sell any of Whirlpool products. And the posts were 4 years ago.

Moreover, Computer World has changed the ownership in 2007 and there are many happy customers now.

        ? Jacktam?

CWorld is Computer World. That's what he was referring to (not to mention that's what it's called in your listing/URL).

Personally I have not dealt with Computer World (CWorld) before so I cannot comment on their service. However, I have noticed that they tend to be over priced compared to most retailers on similar retailers.

And also just to clarify. Whirlpool.net.au is the one of the most popular Australian forums where members discuss anything relating to technology (including shop retailers ie. if it's reputable or not, or if we should shop their or stay the hell away). However I most definitely understand why you may think it's the same site of the appliance home maker whirlpool.

        • bahahahahaha hilarious. Hirokuro, I now proclaim you the god of Ozbargain.

      • LOL@jacktam for whirlpool products!

  • Nice specs my only complaint is screen isn't ful hd i am used to my MacBook pro screen, using my latitude 768 lines drives me nuts

  • -2

wow…nearly half price of the JB deal.
    nice deal~~~

    • Grays are selling 'semi' refurbs.

edit - No factory warranty either, Grays provide a limited 12 month warranty but I'm sure a lot of people will view that as essentially worthless.

      • Yeah they're refurbished from factory condition - I got one and it still had all the plastic.

The warranty isn't great, but 12 months is still pretty good.

  • +1

It does. And i'm suspicious about Cworld now, after reading that whirlpool thread.

  • Only missing USB 3.0 lol..
    unless you dont mind esata

  • Grays deal seems better. Tempted to replace my 3yo Lenovo SL400.
