    $1/day for what?

    • +2

      Japan & South Korea.

      • All included?

        • Yes

  • Took about a minute to figure out it was a pocket wifi.

Is it actually 'popular'? for a pocket wifi that we need to be in Japan or Korea to use.

    • -5

Nah better off getting a sim if you’re going in a group. Less hassle and pocket wifi drains the phone battery real quick.

      • +10

Do you know what is a pocket wi-fi ? Stand alone device like wifi hotspot with its own battery.
how can it drain your phone battery ?

In fact, more convenient if in a group.

  • +2

Heya I sent a DM to confirm my last booking for the last $1 promo since I didnt receive a confirmation email but haven't heard back…

  • Anything for the USA?

  • Can I put the sim card in my dual sim supported mobile phone to use internet?

    • you wouldn't need a dual sim phone. Assuming your existing sim doesn't roam in Japan (economically), you could use as a data-only replacement for your AU sim. Granted you wouldn't be making calls on Japan's Cell Network but hey thats why God gave us WhatsApp

Having said that, I think this offer is for the device, not a stand-alone SIM

  • Why do we need to "verify" eligibility with Facebook

    • +1

      To promote their business

  • Great deal! Bought from the last deal travelling in March - hopefully all smooth sailing :)

  • +4

I used this just last month in Japan for 20 days. Pocket Wi-Fi delivered to my AU address in time before my trip. It worked well overseas (the device had enough battery to last the entire day without charging in between - but I would recommend bringing a powerbank in case). They provide a pre-paid satchel to return the device once you come back. Had no issues with them and would recommend for this price!

  • I've used their service before and I can only say that it's excellent. Highly recommended!

  • +4

Is this ok to order now if travelling in March/April 2020?

    • +1

      Also would like to know!

    • Yes. I ordered in the last promotion for March next year. You specify the date you need the portable wifi on the order page.

  • I assume the return post is only from within Australia? What’s the process if you travel on to another country before returning to Australia but don’t intend to use the wifi there?

    • +2

I booked for the entire length of my trip, knowing that I wouldn't be using the WiFi for part of it. Since they charge $10/day for each extra day you haven't returned the WiFi, it seemed better to just pay $1/day to hire it for longer.

  • used this a month ago, highly recommend these dongles. they did loose connection once or twice, but after restarting they were good to go again.
    definately would use them again

  • Which network does it use in Japan? Does it have coverage in rural areas? Also what is the model of the pocket wifi? Thanks

  • +2

I did all these things last time and never heard back from them, not reliable from my experience.

  • +1

When can i expect to recieve the WIFI pocket from purchasing it last time? Going overseas at the end of nov

  • I got the last deal and used it for 3 weeks in Japan last month. I can honestly vouch for it at this price.

  • I ordered - confirmation email and receipt were sent to Gmail spam so just FYI!

  • +5

I got this the last time it ran. Just got back from Japan last week after using it for 10 days. It's a fantastic deal.

For anyone who has questions like I did, this is what is included:

Unlimited 4G data, no shaping. Speeds are excellent all throughout Japan. We traveled from Tokyo -> Kyoto -> Osaka return and had no issues. We did voice and video calls over data back to Australia with no problems.

Data drops in and out as you go up Mt Fuji, but that's to be expected for any carrier, as reception is bad in the area.

The device is the size of an iPhone 4 and ours lasted about 38 hours before needing to be charged, and we used it constantly. If you charge it every night you'll be fine. It comes with instructions, charging cable (standard micro USB), power adapter, and carry case. Also includes a pre-paid return express satchel, so upon arriving home, just put the device in the satchel and place it in a post box or post office.

Once you order, you get an instant receipt, but I didn't get a confirmation email. Not sure if that was just me, nothing in my junk folder either. They send you an email letting you know the device is on it's way. You'll generally receive it between 1 - 3 days before you leave, so don't panic. It's sent via express post. I'm in Perth and received it 4 days before we left.

If you have any issues, email and phone support are excellent.

    • Thank you im in perth too, just wondering if u travel to other country before coming back? i intend to stop over in singapore for 2 days so not sure just add 2 days (but not using it) ?

      • I sent back the item after about a week past the day I specified and they didn't mention anything. There must be a grace period. I think the dates are for when the data plan is active, not when you have to give it back? maybe their rep can confirm.

        • ok thank you, ill ask them!

          • @quinzzie: I'm curious about this too. Did they get back to you?

            • @piggiepanda: nope. msg them on fb and emailed. no reply lol

              • +1

@quinzzie: I've found text message is the best. Instant response last time.

            • +1

@piggiepanda: OKIE they got back to me.
Yes we have to add all the days we are away. so from the date u leave australia till u return.

    • Ours arrived the day we left. Our flight was at 6.30 so we didn't get it, therefore created lots of drama. Arranged to pick up another from a sister company in Tokyo but they don't deliver to addresses only post office. It was such a hassle, and the performance of the unit was so bad they had to send a replacement - losing more days of communication. I won't be using them again. I found econnect - although more expensive, much more reliable and hassle free. If everything works out it's a bargain - but for me it's not worth the hassles.

  • Any deal for Taiwan? Thanks

  • Will be ordering this for next May - thanks OP!

  • thanks! good deal!

  • +2

Fantastic deal and their service was great! The pocket wifi arrived about a week in advance with the return post paid satchel included.

Used last month in Japan and it works so well. Battery lasts almost two days and the speed was fast, and didn't hit any throttling of any kind. Fast enough for Netflix and YouTube videos concurrently. Coverage was fine for us in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.

    • Hi i'm going to japan next month and was wondering how the ordering process works. I'll be arriving in Japan late 19th and I want to start using the wifi from the 20th. What would the start date be? Also im flying out of japan on the 3rd to China and returning to AU on the 13th. What would my end date be?

      • +1

The booking asks when your departure date is and your arrival back in Australia, not how long you will be in Japan. So for your situation it would be sensible to book the whole period you are not in Australia, especially at the special rate of $1 per day. If you are flying on 18th but arriving on 19th, you'll put down 18th as your departure date.

        • Awesome, thanks for your reply. Makes sense when u put it that way. Thanks again

    • Did the company email you confirmation of your order?
I did this deal, but the only thing I got was payment confirmation from Paypal and nothing from the company.

I'm a bit worried since I leave for Japan soon, and I need to make other arrangements if this won't make it on time.

      • +1

I had the same issue - found the emails in my junk folder.

  • We used Wilh-ma pocket wifi for Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto last month for $1 a day. We paid for 12 days plus another $4 as we departed Australia to another country first. Unfortunately after 5 days in Tokyo/Osaka the device stopped connecting and no one from the company could fix the problem. They asked us to do factory reset but it did not work. It resulted in another 7 days of pain, relying on free wifi or from the hotel. I would not use this again despite the cheap price… Purchase at own risk.

  • Had this for 22 days in Japan. It was absolutely seamless and quick. Would get it again

  • Worked out well for me. Communication can be a hit and miss, as I’ve received replies to simple questions ranging from 1 hour to 1 week.

  • The pocket wi-fi worked well in Seoul. It arrived a week before my departure, wall adapter missing from the pack but not a problem, I just let them know. Returned it using the satchel provided the day after returning to Aussie. The only drawback for me is it's rather heavy to carry around as I also had my powerbank. But for the price it's well worth it.

When is says unlimited, what is the threshold for excessive use? i can't find is easily on the site.

  • +1
    1. If I am travelling for longer than the rental period, is it okay to return it after I come back?
    2. Will I be charged for the time I don't use the Pocket WiFi when I'm outside of Korea (2 weeks) before returning.
    3. Are you open during Christmas period? (I will be returning around Dec 20)
    • you will need to add in the time you are not in australia. (date u leave australia till u come back). i have asked them as i have 2 days in transit. they said they would charge 10/ day. so just add 1 day for 1$ might be better.

  • you need a power bank for the pocket wifi. I used once and gave up. When I need internet the wifi has no power as battery is leaking all day. I just hire a sim chip at airport. It is way simple.

  • This deal has come at a perfect time for me! When it asks for facebook/instagram ID, what is it asking for exactly? Also, I'm assuming I need to like, share AND tag 3 friends?

    • The URL to your profile.

Yep, you need to do all that.

      • For both Facebook and Instagram or is one enough?

  • Is there a sim card in the pocket wifi? Could I pop that into my phone and use it?

    • Hi we use sim less technology. The pocket wifi connects to available stronger network (in Japan case, Softbank or Docomo) when it is turned on in the country specified in the itinerary. Hope this helps.

  • How long does this take to deliver to Australia?

    • Hi Neehaa, we use Australia Post Express Post which normally takes 1-3 business days to post domestically. Or the pocket wifi can be collected from our Melbourne CBD office at Collins St. Thanks

  • +1

Oh nooooo. Missed this deal by a day!

  • +1

Dang it. Missed the deal too!

  • @wilh-ma, will you be having any more deals?
I want to use this and missed this deal, i dont mind paying more than a dollar a day but $9.50 is too much

  • We have had terrible customer service regarding delivery of our ordered unit. In spite of an email on 11 November asking for delivery a few days earlier than normal due to postage delays to FNQ it still has not arrived - start date was supposed to be 5 December, we are flying out today and it is still in transit. No apology or a suggestion for getting oanother at Narita, or offer of a refund.
