From August 2nd through to August 8th, the kind folks at M$ are letting you change your GT for 30% less than the normal cost ; )

There is also a Microsoft Studios Sale for game add-ons - standouts for me would be Alan Wake: The Signal and Alan Wake: The Writer for 280 M$ points each.

        I paid to change my Gamertag recently. Why? My original Xbox one that I loved I stopped using for a few years and when the Xbox 360 came out, I couldn't remember the password for my old GT. Recently, Microsoft deleted old unused Gamertags thus I was able to change my name to my old one. May be seen as useless by some, if not many, but to some it's worth shelling out for to update the gamertag!!

    should be free or 200 at most.

      I always imagined the point in charging a fee was to deter it while still giving you the option. Not so much for technical reasons, it's a pretty basic change, but more for the social implications it creates.

      That doesn't explain this discount however.

    I've heard that the xbox live report system is automated, so if you report yourself enough or from another account, it should reset your gamertag
