I've got the 58" UHDTV. The screen is nice for gaming, no HDR unfortunately or smart stuff but it has a decent response rate so there's no ghosting on screen.

    • +1

What's the boot up time like

      • it's not smart TV , so almost instant ?

        • +5

Not really, it's maybe 20s I'm afraid. I've also noticed that CEC control doesn't work (at least with PC or PS4 and it is turned on in the settings)

Edit/ actually having looked at the ad it seems that they've added HDR to this now. Maybe it's a new screen altogether.

          • +1

            @[Deactivated]: What is cec control?

            • +18

              @loropy9: I'll take letmegooglethatforyou.com for 400 points: https://lmgtfy.com/?q=What+is+cec+control

            • +8

@loropy9: The ability to control things through HDMI, play/pause Bluray with tv remote is most common

              • @HFB: Thanks for the explanation

                • @loropy9: Another cool HDMI-CEC feature is that it can turn on your TV and switch inputs for you. So when you press the cast button on your phone, the TV turns on and switches the input to Chromecast

            • @loropy9: Another cool feature of CEC control that I use a lot is using Google Home to switch on, play, pause, forward etc on TV just by voice commands.

        • Just a warning with the Bauhn CEC via HDMI - it's an absolute nightmare and appeared to be faulty on the 65 inch I bought and returned last month. It kept switching between TV and HDMI input randomly when you try to change channels!

          • @JTTheMan: how was the return ?

aldi come pick it up ?

            or

you have to repack back in box and deliver it to store

            • @dcep: I drove it back to the store with most of the remaining packaging (I kept the box until I tested everything but was disappointed)
The return itself was pretty smooth, no questions asked. I just called the ALDI support number and they gave me a return reference number.

              • @JTTheMan: what car is it , out of interest

                • @dcep: VW Touareg, just fits with the rear seats folded down

            • @dcep: Aldi doesn't even help you load the car and you wished for them to come pick it up? Ha.

That said their returns policy is a no-questions-asked one so if you do all the transporting they'll sort everything else. In my past experience their customer service is better than most. Sent me multiple components for free with their 3D printers.

  • What about the $99 Delonghi Pump Espresso Machine? Anyone know which model is that?

  • Anyone have that projector? Thoughts on it?

  • That Waeco is pretty good, $100 over the usual special price of the 40L, not insane bargain but definitely a good price for a solid fridge.

    • Yes, it's a good buy. Assuming it's the appropriate size, if anyone wants to spend more it would be far better to spend your money on a lifepo4 battery (such as a https://itechworld.com.au/products/120ah-12-volt-lithium-bat… ) and larger solar panels.

A more expensive fridge with lead acid batteries and smaller solar (for the same total layout) would be a poor option I'm my mind.

Checked the Bauhn website and they've stuffed up the specs for the 58" TV (they took the 32" one and copy pasta).

According to the instruction manual PDF on that page, it has Component and Composite inputs (with single RCA audio input), 3x HDMI and 2x USB. Definitely no 'smart' OS. HDR is (as expected) not even local dimming, so really just HDR-compatible.

    32" HD Smart TV
    Resolution 1366x768

This should not exist in 2019

    • Agreed.

    • +3

      Especially not for $222.
For $79, sure someone might want it when they can't afford anything else.

    • That's not "smart".

    • +1

Agreed, but it's surprisingly difficult to find a 32" 1080p Smart TV these days. Samsung and Sony both have one but prices are over the $500 mark.

      • Use the $75 Vodafone TV to add smart capability to it

        Otherwise Kogan have these:
        https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-32-smart-led-tv-android-t…

Both options are powered by Android TV, so you have a access to a good variety of apps and can sideload the ones that aren't available for Android TV.

        • +1

Kogan one is still 768p though :(

          • +1

@Alzori: Yeah it seems when it comes to Kogan TV that only 1080p comes as 40" size and only two models of those 40" 1080p are actually Smart TV. Sizes below that are 720p.

        • Why would you pay $75 for the Vodafone TV when Vodafone AU itself sells it for $72 delivered?.

          • @hollykryten: Must've remembered the price wrong haha, cheers. It's a great box to add smart capabilities to existing/cheap TV.

  • Anyone have the mini projector?

    • +2

Someone else commented on it in here:

      Projecting resolution: 854*480

      No good

  • If anyone's wondering, pretty sure this is the projector…

  • How does the Pump Espresso machine work? Do you need like Nespresso pods for it? Do you need to buy some filters or just ground coffee?
Does it make espressos or cappuccinos only?
I have no idea about coffee, so I wonder if this would be a good birthday present for the missus who drinks coffee every morning?

    • +4

It uses ground coffee. An espresso machine pumps hot water at a controlled rate through that filter containing the ground coffee and it brews straight black coffee (espresso). Milk is added later.

Just search on Youtube on how to Use an Espresso machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSiQYlxQ5CU

    • +2

Espresso machines take ground coffee. You can either buy whole beans and grind yourself, or buy pre ground (not ideal, but does the job). As the name implies, this machine makes espresso, which is basically a very small but strong shot of coffee. You can then add frothed milk to this to make a latte, capp, flat white etc.

Depends on how into your coffee your mrs is, as to how much she'll likely use it. If she's just throwing together a cup of blend 43 for the caffeine hit in the morning, she might not be into this as it's more work. If she really enjoys coffee though, and you think she'd be willing to invest some time into it, then this could be a good way to get her started.

  • I hope the 140v is a spelling error.

    • That was my bad. Should be 240V

  • +1

I want a 55"+ tv, and I'm willing to wait. I missed out on the 380 bucks soniq one, and i hesitated on the 600 bucks samsung one cause, you know, I'm a cheap ass haha.

Is this a good choice? Or should I wait for the samsung one again? It'll be my ps4/5 machine

    • +11

I hate to have to say it, and I know I'm going to get bagged, but please - the Australian expression is 'arse', not 'ass'. Thank you, and good night.

      • +1

Arse is not as easily typed on swipe-gesture, so yeah, sorry mate, I'd rather be an ass and false blue about this haha.

        • +14

          Ahh the old asswipe

    • +2

I got the 55" $449 and it has been awesome. No issues, picture looks great in 4k but sound is average as expected. Can't comment on latency as I don't game on it

      • Does it have HDR or was it mislabeled? Someone from the top said it doesnt have it…?

        • My old one doesn't have it, can't comment on this newer model

  • +1

I liked their mini arcade machines, but they don't sell them anymore.

  • I'm new here. Do they deliver the 58" TV to home? If not, what are the options?

  • +1

Not a bad price on the Sony WI-C200 bt earphones. Anybody know how these compare to others?

  • There's a $499 Linsar 58" UHD HDR Smart TV @ TGG

    • +7

But the smart functionality is a huge con. I'd rather the ALDI dumb tv

      • +1

Yeah the dumb TVs are much better when it comes to startup speed. I have a Kogan 43" dumb TV and it starts in about 5 seconds.

Ffalcon TVs from JB let you enable/disable the smarts.
0-pic in 3.5 sec on mine.

      • +1

Oh that's a pretty nifty feature!

  • I have a delter coffee press (similar to aeropress), I was wondering if anyone had experience with the Delonghi and if they could compare their experience of the products

    • I have a smaller version of this delonghi machine and its great, no issues and the coffee is nice

  • Anyone use the braun tv or similar for gaming on pc ?

  • What would be the refresh rate for the Bauhn 58" Ultra HD TV. Will the complete spec sheet listed online somewhere?

edit: this should be the link http://www.bauhn.com.au/product-listing/58-4k-ultra-hd-tv-AT…

    • It says 60Hz in the specs tab as well as in the pdf manual on your link

  • The 32" TV does NOT run Android TV.

    http://www.bauhn.com.au/product-listing/32-hd-smart-tv-ATV32…

You cannot download any extra apps on this TV.

  • Managed to get a coffee machine this morning….looks good

  • +1

Got everything that seemed good value.
Can confirm the BAUHN TV HAS HDR written on both the Label on the box and inside the instructions. I will confirm whether it actually has it this evening.

      Looking forward to your review!

    • +2

Update: This tv definitely has HDR mode you can enable it in the settings my Xbox One X confirms it is enabled and there's a whole page in the instructions which discusses how to enable it.

I couldn't be more happy with the picture quality for $444 looks excellent with xbox one x and blu ray film ozb special Falkirk.

      The exact model is ATV58UHD-1119

      • Very happy with mine as well. Excellent bang for your buck.

      • How's the audio? Decent for the price?

        • +1

Audio is ok not as tinny as I expected but great with $99 z623 THX Logitech's you'll need a 3.5mm audio out or optical out as there are no phono out cables

  • +2

Bought the tv.. I’d say it’s average. HDR looks better than my 2017 TCL but it has a bit of ghosting. Not sure if I’m going to keep it yet. If you want to test yours out try this video https://youtu.be/vigX3H7WX5Q look at the black square spinning in the white strip, you will see ‘tails’ coming off the corners of the square :( so it’s not great for gaming, alright for movies tho.
