    Looks like an advertisement

    • It is promoting our product if that's what you are referring to. Although I know the Ozbargain community can be pretty critical so it's also a great place for post-purchase feedback.

      • +2

yes, promoting = advertising = spam

        http://tinyurl.com/3jooshz

        $229 is their normal price

Ozbargain is not an advertising website

        • Sorry, if it's unclear but the deal here is FREE DELIVERY which saves $39.15 off the item.

It's not a price reduction on the item, it's free delivery worth $39.15 on a transaction which would otherwise cost $229.00 + $39.15 = $268.15

          As a result, $39.15 / $268.15 = 14.6% Saving.

Sorry, if it's unclear but the deal here is FREE DELIVERY

That's not how the title read when you posted… It was very misleading…

        • Yes, I understand it may have been a little misleading in the Title and I apologise for that. I've changed the title to hopefully make it a little clearer - it was my mistake but thank you for helping to point it out. Makes it easier for anyone else reading it over the weekend!

          Does it read alright now?

        • Does it read alright now?

          fine by me… :)

"Although I know the Ozbargain community can be pretty critical" - you obviously don't know enough.

        • A little confused as to why there is so much dislike for a Free Delivery offer. It's a saving of $39.15 or ~15% which is more than a few of the bargains currently posted?

  • 15% is hardly a bargain?

    • it's not 15%, they were selling this for the same price 2 weeks ago…

      • It's not a price reduction on the item, it's free delivery worth $39.15 on a transaction which would otherwise cost $229.00 + $39.15 = $268.15

        As a result, $39.15 / $268.15 = 14.6% Saving, which rounds up to a tidy 15%

    • While 15% on our prices may not seem like a bargain, you can find a similar product (Glossy MDF) selling in excess of $600+ on other sites so when compared to that it's well under half the price. However, it's very hard to draw comparisons on furniture as it's uncommon to find many retailers reselling the same brand.

    Bookshelf - Just $229

yes, $229 is their normal selling price for this item…

    • "So we're offering Free Melbourne Metro Delivery for orders of 'Lumiere High Gloss Shelf - Five Tier - White' placed this weekend. It's a saving of $39.15 on a $229.00 product which comes to about 15% off."

Just for consistency I thought I'd reply the third reply you posted on the same thread. As above, it's a coupon code for FREE DELIVERY worth $39.15 on the Bookshelf which is worth $229.00

Considering this will be flat packed, I really doubt metro delivery in Melb is worth $39.
PS take your $39 and buy some shelves from the Ikea bargain area.

"Worth" $229? - Thats just a figure someone (you?) made up. They may be "priced" at $229 but "worth" is entirely subjective. Shelves such as those would only be "worth" about $60 -$80 to me on a good day.

    $229?…………. not today buddy!

    • +1

Well it's a flat-packed item which weighs 60kg (it's MDF not Particleboard) and so far the feedback from our customers has been that the quality and finish are superior to that of Ikea, but again it's all subjective and user-preference.

It's not necessarily an item which is going to suit everyone, especially as it'll also depend on the decor of your house :)

  • Everyone seems pretty harsh about this - if you think it's not a bargain post a comparable item at a cheaper price.
Most here would +ve a saving of 15% on an electronics product.

    • Most here would +ve a saving of 15% on an electronics product.

probably because they are easier to compare like for like when the product is identical…

    • Thanks colblair! I think a lot of the harshness was actually because the original title didn't make it clear enough that the discount was free delivery rather than the item. Our fault but we've fixed up the title although the comments still look a bit messy between Jv and I :)

If anyone wants a comparison, feel free to take a look at:
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Miami-Black-White-Shelf-Chrome-Bo…

It's a similar item at twice the price AND they'll charge you $60 for Syd Delivery (they're NSW Based) or a $70 fee to Melbourne.

  • +1

Electronics are a bit different. Margins for electronics are very very low. eg. 10% of macs in most case is the lowest you will ever see.

  • If you had made it $200 delivered, you'd be sold out in minutes (well, if I lived in Melbourne I'd buy at that price without a second thought) - do you guys have a store? Maybe make it free delivery or $200 pickup?

Just some food for thought :D

    • -1

if delivery is really $39 (and they aren't making a profit on delivery), then the pickup price should be $229 - $39 = $190

      • but if they're a postage based company (ie, warehouse but no storefront) - then they have to have someone 'manning' a front desk area, set up a cash float etc - plus it's a nice round figure :P

    • Hi Mazley. As an online business we're sans store but I have been allowing customers to view the products at my own residence given we've got the shelves set up and looking awesome. It's understandable given that furniture can be varying qualities, and it's one of the problems we're going to face moving forward.

We're unable to offer pick-up on the shelves (they're difficult to transport between the warehouse and our office location) which is part of the reason we've posted the bargain :)

We'll keep it in mind for the future though!

Put price on the the tittle instead of discounted amount, misleading advertisement

    • Sorry, the original title had the amount then it was misleading and we changed it (see discussion with JV above). We've now edited back in the price. Can you please confirm is reads okay now?

  • SPAM, POST the actual amount not the saving on the title !!!!!!

    • Sorry guys, we had it in there and then changed it upon request from JV to make it clearer and accidentally scrubbed out the price. It's been reinserted.

  • REP might want to read the listing guidlines before posting…..i.e..Must have price in title

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:title_guidelines

    • Sorry, the original title had the amount then it was misleading and we changed it (see discussion with JV above). We've now edited back in the price. Can you please confirm is reads okay now?

  • We only want bargain in ozbargain. Thanks for your deal anyway.

    • +1

Ah well, I thought I'd just post a bargain up here for the Ozbargainers but alas, if it's not seen as a bargain then I suppose we'll refrain from it in the future :(

  • You should put the real price of the bookshelf on the title. at the moment, it reads Bookshelf $39.15 with free delivery. very misleading.

  • It seems there's a bit of a delay in updating of Thread Titles. We've currently got it reading:
5-Tier Lumiere High Gloss Bookshelf - $229 w/ Free Delivery (Save $39.15) [MELB Only]

Is this not what it's appearing as? Does anyone have any better suggestions on the title, because we're stumped. Every revision seems to be misleading to someone :(

  • free shipping typically does not constitute a bargain… (think there may be something about it in the posting guidelines)

change it to free shipping (save 40 dollars shipping) — typically people dont put how much the save from shipping…

    • +1

Hmm. If there was then I must have missed it because I did look through. I've made the change suggested :)

      • looks good, i almost want to plus you for working with the community ;)

        • Would be nice - Ironically I had a NEG from a member earlier, changed the title to fix and picked up 3x NEG in the process. Ah well, thems the breaks! Heh.
