Paid just over 1k for my one of these a few years back which is now dying. Beware you will have to fight tooth and nail if it dies just outside of the 3 years (With ACER). They will say no, but just start blasting them on all their social media and they will turn around.

My XB270HU is artifacting. I'm sticking it out because I paid so much for it but it's a real disappointment. Out of warranty too of course.

While the XB271HU was good when new I don't recommend anybody buy one now, see below.

I had a XB271HU purchased 3 years ago, it got replaced under warranty just recently but after recieving 3 brand new replacements from acer over many months I can't recommend the monitor any more due to backlight bleed on the 2019 models. On my 2016 monitor there was only the slightest glow in two corners but on every new replacement there was bright hotspotting in every corner, these were three brand new sealed boxed monitors that acer sent me during the warranty process. Eventually they agreed to refund me but only after I produced proof with pictures of my original panel being nothing like the replacements. I'd recommend one of the newer LG panel based monitors though I haven't seen them personally.

  • Maybe I've been lucky, but mine has been running like a champ for the last approx. 3 years without issue and no BLB problem. There may be better monitors out there now, but personally I've been extremely satisfied with the XB271HU and would happily recommend.

    • I have been lucky also, is my main monitor and have used 144hz and 165hz since date of purchase. Best monitor I have purchased. Definitely better options these days but is still a great monitor. Was my first 60hz+ monitor, will never go back.

Mine recently developed a dark streak on the left hand side of the panel. Acer won't help me. Buy the new Aorus or LG.

They actually had this at $759 (aka $607.2 with coupon) a few hours ago but they've increased it back up lol

  • have one and love it

I grabbed one, surprised to see that it hasn't sold out yet. It released a few years ago and remains one of the top 27" 1440p 144hz IPS monitors, alongside the PG279Q and newly released LG 27GL850 and Aorus AD27QD

    • im choosing between the same models except Aorus though, its too expensive. The LG is sold out everywhere and the PG279Q I can get for the same price for XB, but not sure which is the better one. Hows your XB?

Same I wanted the LG as well but its sold out and the ETA is about 27th or 28th but I doubt it. I pre ordered the Viewsonic but the ETA kept getting pushed back now its at 27th Dec which is crazy so I just cancelled and ordered this. Seeing a lot of complaints about this monitor but usually its the vocal minority right? I hope I don't get a bad one though :C

Haven't received the XB271HU yet, ill be sure to update you once it comes through.
The general consensus is that the XB271HU = PG279Q ≥ 27GL850, but the Acer has better QC apparently

TFT Central on their review of the LG said "The contrast is stronger on the Asus/Acer models, but on the other hand the LG offers a wide DCI-P3 gamut backlight which really adds to the quality of the image, the colours and overall experience in games. Finally, the IPS glow is arguably a bit better here on the LG showing a less pale off-angle glow in darker content."

          • @FIREWORKKS: I'll report in, Just got it. Disappointed that the film on the screen or the bezels I can SEE PEELING OFF! …

            https://imgur.com/a/wUhDjIm

Man my excitement was at full and when i open it up just to see this. dead pixels on the right side and the FILM FOR THE SCREEN is unglueing or coming off. Super disappointed. Now I'm going to probably send it off again or keep as is…

I guess this is my lesson when I don't listen. ARRRGGG Why do i do this to myself.

Oh after I made this comment I found another green pixel on the bottom … https://i.imgur.com/BpvNvKf.jpg

@HeyHeyHeyIsItADeal: Hey, I received mine too and I wasn't disappointed - no dead pixels, an absolutely no peeling of the any film on the monitor. I reckon you just lost the panel lottery on this one bud, I personally would return it for another or just wait until the LG 27GL850 is restocked

              • @FIREWORKKS: Yeeah man, It's just I'm always unlucky. I bought a GPU too and it died randomly then I buy a monitor then it has dead pixel. The only thing though is when i saw the box it looked like someone threw it and the box on the corner got smashed or squashed. I open up the box and the white foam is literally broken and in pieces so its everywhere on the floor.

I'm just unlucky I guess, Other than that I LOVE 144hz so far though.

Right now im just contacting them and they're DOA on monday but im not sure what that means. Yeah, Im either going to get a replacement and if not a refund and LG 27GL850 but I'm not even sure what the difference is besides the $750 vs $640 (this monitor).

edit1: Sorry to bother you again can I ask you if your box came taped? Mine had tape in all 4 corners with ACER on it. Did yours?

                • +1

@HeyHeyHeyIsItADeal: My box came with tape on the corners but it wasn't really doing anything, I could open the box without cutting them. DOA means dead on arrival, but not how it applies in your case.

The LG 27GL850 is pretty similar to this monitor, 144hz, 1440p, IPS, G-Sync compatible but it has better color and responsible time (but not significantly noticeable). Also, it allegedly has better QC so if you don't want to play the panel lottery maybe that instead. Good luck with your next panel :)

      • Mine just arrived and the film is peeling off already

        https://imgur.com/a/wUhDjIm

        and I have 1 dead pixel https://i.imgur.com/BpvNvKf.jpg

You might want to wait if you're patient enough.

    • So tempted, but can't really justify a $700 monitor. Will likely pick up AOC 24G2 or 27G2 on Black Friday instead…
