31.5" MSI OPTIX MAG322CQRV 2K Curved Gaming Monitor $559.20 + $15 Shipping ($0 with Plus) @ Computer Alliance eBay

90
PSAVECA

I recently built my own PC using similar specs (see below) to the pre-built towers that have been getting quite a few clicks here so it was only forthcoming that I would end up looking for a better monitor to suit.

In this price range, there isn't too much else to pick from other than maybe an equivalent LG that doesn't have the same refresh rate and isn't curved. Short of going to ultrawide that won't suit most FPS games and spending significantly more AND stressing your GPU, I found this to be a happy medium between the lot.

The Computer Alliance deal (PSAVECA) is due to expire shortly but if you're happy with eBay's buyer protection and other not so prominent sellers, this same monitor can be had for $551.20 ($8 less than CA) via FTC_computers using code PITCH20 and won't expire until 02/12. For reference, the next closest is Futu_online, also utilising PITCH20 but comes in at around $70 more at $623.20.

Mods with this expiring today, is it possible to somehow combine the above mentioned price from ftc_computers to give buyers a longer purchase window/expiry date for the deal?

My tower specs for anybody interested - B450 Tomahawk Max, Ryzen 5 3600, Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb Ram, MSI 5700XT Mech, 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD

Happy shopping!

  • Wonder how this compares to my Dell S3220DGF, which btw i love very happy with the purchase.

    • 1ms response, 144hz, curved, 1440p, Dell is slightly brighter but significantly more expensive from what I'm seeing. I'll be sure to let you know but doubt you'd be unhappy with your purchase either way! :)

      • Bought my Dell for $550 during the promotion :)

How is the 5700 xt Mech btw? considering buying one.

        • +1

Yeh, $5-600 is around where I was/am more comfortable spending so I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with the purchase.

The 5700 Mech was highly recommended by a friend of mine that has built a few pcs and helped with the spec for mine. We basically made the decision based on price vs inclusions. I think it was a 2070s that had a decent game packaged but one that I wouldn't play so I decided that the money would be better spent on the better card, hence the sway to the 5700xt.

The Mech itself, it's nice and quiet, it's only ramped up a couple of times but I haven't completely stressed it yet either and also why I've opted for a 1440p monitor over 4k and/or ultrawide. I'm coming from a 7-8 year old gaming rig that sounded like a jumbo jet so this is a massive step up given the tech advancement since. It was also a happy medium short of spending upwards of $2k if I were to bump up spec on just the GPU alone, let alone cpu, ram, etc. which was neglible around my price point. Price vs. gain started to diminish pretty quickly thereafter.

      • 1ms MPRT, as opposed to 1ms g2g, i.e. you need to strobe the backlight to get that figure, which most people don't like doing, and it halves the maximum brightness of the panel.

Repeat after me: aside from the very, very latest TN panels (some of the last 6-9 months of models), there are no true 1ms g2g panels and these are peak figures (otherwise we'd have 1000Hz options, albeit super expensive ones).

Im using this since the July deal with the bonus MSI gaming chair (only just got the chair 2 weeks ago) no complaints from the monitor good fast, color seems pretty decent it's paired with a 1080 it does have a dead pixel but its top left of the screen usually hidden by a hud etc but great value. if you leave a review they give you $25 USD steam credit too which was great

    • Nice to know! Thanks. How much did you pay back in July if you don't mind me asking?

      • $689 delivered from CA good to see it's come down a bit since then :)

        • Have you bothered inquiring about sending it back under warranty?

Decent price considering that chair (if you needed/wanted one) is likely worth a few dollars on it's own.

          • @db87: Yeah cheers it was selling for $399 and my old amart one was falling apart, I looked up on their MSI policy and it had to be a few in a cluster and this pixel is a light grey/clear so its not too annoying and in games I cant even see it.

  • Wouldn't a 1440p monitor technically be described as 2.5K not 2K? Computer Alliance should change the description of their eBay listing, at first glance at the title I thought it might be some super low pixel density 1080p screen.

    See https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/691408-2k-does-not-mean-2560×1440/

Dare I say but I believe it would be for simplicity. They do it when monitors are half inch sizes (as is the case here - 31.5inch listed as 32inch on a few listings) too but I know personally I wouldn't be losing too much sleep over it.

    • Yep 2k is 1080p, my gamer mates call 1440p 3k for lack of a less clumsy term.

  • How does it compare with the kogan 34"
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-34-wqhd-curved-219-ultraw…

Differences I can see are resolution, size and refresh rate. Price looks good.

OP, how much you got your 5700XT? I am looking for MSI gaming version though which is at very good price.

    • Just over $600 with a free game or 2 and the xbox 3 month subscription but I believe there has been a new deal posted with it coming in slightly lower from a not as well-known seller (ftc_computers). The same seller I linked above for the slightly cheaper price than CA.

This monitor is also still available from the same seller as mentioned in my description.

For the kogan display and any ultrawide, you'll find most cards will struggle to output anything worthwhile for gaming and not many games even support the full width so you'll have big black lines either side anyway.

      YMMV.

      • Thanks. With most games supporting 21:9, I dont think it will be an issue.
I mostly play BF series. Can see this article stating it will support
https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/discussion/144878/battl…. Its the premium cost for resolution and size with big brands, I dont want to pay. Will research more and wait for more Black Friday deals :)

Want both, 5700XT gaming and ultra wide with minimum 100 Hz refresh and possibly 4k or similar resolution.

        • You'll be wasting your time with 4k. Same deal, content isn't really there, you'll be hammering your card and you'd barely notice the difference. Bang for buck, you're far better off going for a regular aspect and pocketing the difference.

I was all for ultrawides also but was talked out of it by a handful of (gamer) mates.
