Free Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Digital Code with Purchase of a Nintendo Switch from Selected Retailers

730

From 29/11/2019, when you purchase a Nintendo Switch from participating retailers, you’ll receive a full game download code for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, for a limited time, while supplies last!

*Please note: This offer is not available for Nintendo Switch Lite.

Now the question is, does the recently listed Target Switch for $369 include the digital code? If so it makes the JB hi-fi $399 cost look pretty bad…

Purchase a Nintendo Switch from JB Hi Fi or EB Games and you’ll receive a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe full game download code on your receipt.

Offer period is 29/11/2019 – 29/12/2019, unless sold out sooner.

Gotta love how digital sales can 'sell out'.

      The ultimate scam.

      • +5

Nope, that's when digital download purchases are more expensive than getting a physical copy delivered to you…

    • +2

I think it meant unless all the Switch consoles sold out sooner.

    • Nintendo don’t want these codes on eBay or key reseller sites.

    • Digital can sell out if the supplier has not purchased/generated enough of them. For JB/EB even if they can print one on your receipt they have to have been ordered from Nintendo (usually Germany). This can take some time.

  • +2

If the code from other retailers comes inside the box then I would guess it's possibly this bundle which as mentioned in the JB Hi-fi post is the older model Switch.

    • Sure seems like an good way for Nintendo to get rid of old stock while pretending to give away free download codes…

The Big W Catalogue shows a different Box Art (for the Nintendo Switch), compared to the US.

  • Now the question is, does the recently listed Target Switch for $369 include the digital code?

I doubt it. Nintendo Site Mentions:

Purchase a Nintendo Switch from all other participating retailers, while supplies of this limited bundle last, and you’ll receive a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe full game download code inside the box.

Based on the wording, it appears to be specifically marked box, with the code inside.

Target isn’t selling the bundle Switch

    • Seems like really dodgy marketing imo…

    • OP is confused

you're the one who seems to set in buying this Friday … how are you feeling now? are you confused too?

        • +1

yep I'm confused just by looking at your comments, and your overuse of italic font, which means to me you're confused too

  • What if, Nintendo released a new bundle just for this promo, which will most likely contain the revised console.

    • What if, i told you that you can have a girlfriend and still have your wallet full °°°

  • "Where to buy:"
"JB Hi Fi / EB Games"

Guess its just if you think paying $30 for a mario cart is worth it.

It sounds like as JB and EB are larger gaming stores/departments compared to other retailers, Nintendo have provided their POS system with generated codes. This way Nintendo ships standard consoles to them as well as letting them get rid of their inventory which is "usually" much greater stock on hand than say Target.

Any other store BESIDES EB and JB will have the specific console bundle with box art (like shown here in the Big W deal) so the staff don't have to worry about the extra hassle of generating/making sure your receipt has a code on it.

The way I interpret all these deals are: JB & EB - Standard Console, your Mario Kart DL is on the receipt. Everyone else - Specific Console Bundle with Mario Kart DL inside and Box art to reflect.

Also Target "most likely" will have 2 bundles (if they get the MK one) which is the regular switch for $369 and the Mario Kart Bundle for more, $399/$429/?

Also also also EB will probably sell old stock too if they have it so double check your console box. As JB have the new revision consoles pictured with the matching SKU you can definitely ask and make sure you're getting the latest one.

    Thanks Nintendo.

Edit: just to add, EB games is hit or miss with price matching Hardware/consoles. 90% I have tried at multiple stores and they always find some reason to get out of it. I don't shop there anymore and support the original store that has the deal, unless it's Harvey Norman. F&*k Harvey Norman.

I'm not sure he used any emotive language.

so who are these participating retailers?

    • +3

Isn't it clear, they are retailers that are participating!

      • -1

        who are they ?

        • Sorry if it wasn't clear I was being silly.

I don't know why Nintendo hasn't made the details clear, the pessimist in me thinks this is mostly a ploy for Nintendo to get rid of old stock.

            @SiliconBased:

I don't know why Nintendo hasn't made the details clear

They did. It's literally in your link…

            Where to buy:

            What's unclear about that?

Wait for Mario Kart 9 and those sweet, sweet micro-transactions. Why should mobile users have all the fun?

No interest in Nintendo anymore. They've lost the plot.

  • Remember last year when this sale happened? So many people were pretty upset to miss out.

  • I got the switch last year from Amazon (with Shopback) for $29x. Worth waiting until Friday IMHO.

    • Just like the Prime sales everyone thought great console deals were coming and ended up with nothing .

      • It was 20% cashback on Consoles (and everything else) last year with shopback, that's worth waiting for.

        Of course no guarantee.

        • 29X for a Switch (even the pre 2019 model) is quite a bargain !

  • Not too concern about the game but after reading all the comments..

Which deal is selling the new updated console? JB or Target?

    • -2

      both

This image from Kogan further confirms it’s the revised console, not the old one.

  • Has anyone confirmed that target is one of the participating retailers?
