May help someone who wants to pick one up in store. (if available)

    7% shopback on surface purchases - https://www.shopback.com.au/microsoft
Combine with 100 off 500 Amex offer too if you have it saved.

If you are after the i5 8gb memory 256gb ssd model and keyboard type cover, I still think this is the better deal …

    • Thanks! Just did this exact deal.

At $1799, it works out the Surface is $1599 and the Signature Type Cover is $200. So you save $50 on the type cover.

I signed up to Shopback to get this 7%… But it says 1.5% back on Surface models when I look at the Shopback microsoft page?
Highest I can see is 5.5% on Movies and game purchases…

Cashback website says 6% so I'll go with them instead.

      • Yeah looks like its changed, thanks for the tip with cashback though

      • +1

I made the order on 27th and the cashback rate was indeed 7% then, and i just checked shopback's mircorsoft page it looks like they have changed the rate

  • does MS store in sydney allow split payment with multiple amex?

    • Believe people in the previous thread said they would.

    • Yes, I just completed a split payment at the Pitt St store.

  • +2

FYI about 15min ago the Pitt St. Microsoft Store has increased the discount from 15% to 20%. (signage not updated, this was a verbal communication in-store).

The bonus case is still retained as part of the deal.

    • +2

Probably because Gerry is doing 20% off

  • +2

The discount is actually 20% off + free sleeve. They also offer free delivery and extended returns.

    • +1

You can register for extended accident cover from MS if its within 45 days of purchase. $179 dollars. I'll be trying this later tonight.

  • Wish the 256 bundle came down in price too. Think I'll have to go with the 128 at that price.

  • +1

The Microsoft Complete cover has been discounted as well. $179->$149 so as of posting this is the best surface deal.

  • Ha ha

Still have a ticket open saying I want the sleeve and HN price match
PS dude said there is no cashback…..how little does he know
Also got Amex email notification, plus will travel over Christmas and get GST back

Went for the 15’ - Sweet deal all up and a very sexy Laptop for a high schooler

    • Just realised I got the extended coverage reduced as well - $143.20
There really was a ‘window’ for the best deal here

  • Me: buys Surface Pro before lunch from Microsift web site at 15% off
Microsoft after lunch: silently increases discount to 20%
    Me: :-0

    • I did the same and Microsoft chat support where kind enough to refund me the 5% difference and post out the free sleeve.

  • ….annnnd the discounted extended coverage is gone. Back to $179

    • Just checked it went through at $143.20 on mine - Lucky as I wasn’t really checking

  • +1

    Thanks for this.

Pulled the trigger on the Black I5 256, Microsoft price matched HN, so $1599 not $1699.

Salary sacrificing on the $1699 receipt (before $100 refund on price match, and before separate $100 AMEX discount) so effectively buying this for $650. :)

    • Is that the bundle for 1599 for the bundle?

      • Just the I5 256 with free sleeve - they weren’t prepared to offer the price match on the black within the bundled essentials. Probably as that would have been messy via chat.

  • ….annnnd the discounted extended coverage is back again. blink blink… go figure!

Out of curiosity, what's everyone's reasons for purchasing extended coverage?

    • In my case, the two years of accidental damage coverage was the selling point for the complete care extended warranty on the Surface. The receiver/beneficiary of this ridiculously expensive and totally underpowered machine is my son. Should he drop it, or spill a liquid on it, there is a couple of chances to get M$ to repair it for a nominal fee far cheaper than replacing the whole unit.

Interestingly when I login to https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/devices and click on the surface, I see that the warranty shows 3 years accidental damage protection, even though the screen at checkout time shows only 2 years from date or purchase. The wording in the store "Microsoft Complete for Surface Pro provides extended protection for your device and includes accidental damage coverage for two years. Also includes software and hardware support."

Makes the process a lot smoother if you're in Sydney when you go into store and pay the fee + walk out with a replacement device.

Not to mention the design of the surface range typically makes them impossible to repair easily

      • does your account still show 3 years? mine did initially but now it is only 2 years + 1 month 01/2021 or it might be 12/2021 i cant tell

        • Mine still showing 3 years - Manufacturer Warranty ends 01/11/2022

    • It’s for an 11 year old taking it to high school in Jan, yes I know it’s too good for him, maybe the Lenovo 14’ 2-in-1 would have been a better option but their warranty was more $$$ / longer

  • Bought one yesterday, does anyone know the delivery timelines to Melbourne's outer suburbs.?

    • I ordered on a weds evening, dispatched thurs and delivery received on the Friday via DHL.

      • Same here

    • Ordered Wednesday early hours.
      Dispatched Wednesday noon.
Estimated Delivery: Thursday, November 28, 2019 By End of Day

      Seems insanely fast.

      • +1

Local stock in Australia doesn't come from China/US like Dell and Lenovo counterparts plus DHL shipping is pretty quick

  • does it come with the pen? the picture in the cart has the pen, but i cant find where it says it is included

    • Does not come with pen, well my Surface Laptop 3 does not

  • Unfortunately they are out of the Surface Pro 7 sleeves online.

    • +1

Yea out of sleeve, they offered to refund the price of the sleeve off the price for me though which worked out better for me.

      • extra $50 odd off that's not bad.

        • +1

          $89

          • @zorrt: thought they'd go off the cheapest one - even better.

Time to pull the trigger than, tempted to get the 16GB i7 but just don't think my use case is warranted and ive wasted money in the past buying for things I might do.

Between amex deal, cash back, cover refund this is an i5 Sp7 for under 1K which is pretty cool.

            • +1

@Osiris: Yea worth a shot, I asked chat if the sleeve offer was still on, they told me yes and offered to call back when it was in stock. Got a call couple hours later saying no stock and got offered $89 refund instead so I took the offer up. Told the guy I wanted to order online to get cashrewards, gave him my microsoft account and he just waited till I ordered to confirm the order went through and gave me a reference number incase I have any issues getting the refund.

Great service imo, almost bought it from Harvey Norman on friday, stood around like 10min playing with it and no one bothered to serve me so I walked off.

              • +1

@zorrt: Thanks @zorrt, I don't think I would've thought to bother with the sleeve let alone a refund for it. Just purchased then and was so easy to sort, chat is awesome. Sorted now with the refund on the sleeve :)

      • Wow thats very good. I was offered Arc mouse since sleeve is out of stock.
