I know that Decor and Sistema are basically permanently half price (and are both 1/2 price right now) but I only just saw these containers which seemed like a good bargain for some re-heatable work lunch containers.
These are exactly the same as the traditional red ones just different colours. The red 900ml containers are $3 each while these are $7 for 3 ($2.33 each).
Not sure about the bumps as I haven’t gotten them before but the containers are BPA Free so it’s probably the safest guarantee they are gonna tell you about whether the plastic is harmful or not.
I've had that when heating up things with tomato sauce, like canned baked beans, spaghetti or condensed tomato soup. Is that similar for you?
I spend a bit more for glass containers and take the top off when microwaving. I'm unlikely to be affected by some kind of borosilicate derivative, whereas plastics are a bit of a crapshoot chemically
I basically exclusively use them for heating up food (frozen veges and/or leftover food from the fridge) in the microwave as it's so easy and cling wrap never actually clings to any of my bowls lol
However I don't like my food piping hot so I didn't think I was blasting them too much.
Oh, they sometimes go in the dishwasher when I've got room.
I’ve had mine for years and the only issue I’ve got are the corners on the lids breaking. Other posts about Decor seem to suggest that if your heat up your containers with oil in it they heat up at higher temperatures and eventually damage them.
Do not buy these. They are garbage. I have at least ten of these and half of the lids have broken through general use.
I have a bunch of red ones and blotches of white keep appearing on the inside of them where I assume it's melted somehow. Unsure what causes it or if it's safe.. Anybody get the same?
