Why the hell would you want salt all over your house?!

    • +161

      Its a seasonal thing?

    • +19

I already play League of legends

      • Now that type of shooting is a different category. You should be banned for it

      • +26

        What the hell is this?

        • +1

          Haiku?

        • Sims talk

          • +7

@Winston100s: It's like he's typing on a phone and thinks you need to enter a line break every time you reach the edge of the screen.

            • @Tacooo: omfg i hate people who do this in fb messenger lol.
              types one sentence.
              hits enter.
              types another sentence.
              hits enter.
you reply to their first sentence.
              they type another sentence.

This would make a powerful weapon in the Supernatural world.

    From the reviews:

One tip- Wasp's nests. Don't shoot them. Those bastards are tough, and they have friends. Stick to the Raid at 10 paces for them.

    • +1

Try a flamethrower from 30 paces instead.

      • WD-40 works good, and less chance of starting a fire.

        • I don't understand why people risk using bug spray, etc. on wasps. One day I had the hose on the shower setting and noticed wasps were just flying through it like it wasn't there. So I looked around, saw their nest, and turned the hose on it - which is made of mud - that quickly washes away while the wasps think it's a storm and don't get agitated or hunt for something to attack. No more nest when the 'rain' stops means the wasps have nothing to protect, sense it's pointless building one there, and leave.

I'm getting this to replace my dinning table salt grinder.

    • +30

'Dear, could you pass the salt?' FWOOOSH!

    • +1

      dining has one n

      • You could shoot it with this gun

  • These are sick.

  • +4

I am genuinely surprised this is not illegal (yet).

    • Are…are you kidding?

      • +21

We live in a nanny state. This is right up there in offensive implements. And quite frankly, I am Offended!

        • Yes,yes you are indeed.

        • Username checks

    • +16

Is this one of those assalt weapons?

      • +26

        Yes, it's a salt rifle

    • Pretty sure it is. Usually amazon doesn't allow shipping to Australia on this item.

    • Samurai swords are legal in most states, despite quite a few murders with them. Still, I wouldn't put it past the exalted logic of politicians to ban this, before those.

    • +1

Can't see why, wouldn't it be classified as a toy? A nerf gun does more damage to literally anything, compared to this. Just easier to hit a fly with a shotgun spread of salt. Plus you need to be quite close for it to even work, even then it would never break skin.

      • This can break skin, I know from experience.

        • +5

          So can a fork

        • +2

          Must be thin skinned

    • -2

I'm no expert (and don't know how it actually works) but it seems to be an airgun according to this definition
      https://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/#/view/act/1996/46/whole#…
Licence, permit, secure storage. Like most firearms, these days it isn't worth the bother of ownership.

      • +2

Wouldn't a nerf gun fall into that same definition?

        • That's what I thought also

      • +6

"I'm no expert (and don't know how it actually works)"

Maybe you should have just stopped there?

      • That's why straws with the paper packaging have been banned since 2017.

  • +8

I really do want to shoot salt at flies but not for $52.

    • +6

I'll come to your house and throw salt really hard at them for $18! Deal?

    • I don't think you could find it cheaper anywhere else. Aliexpress knockoffs are $50.

  • Good luck getting that through border security 😂

  • Thanks OP. New weapon for CS:GO.

  • Make sure to get the one with the laser attachment. I have one of these, they are great.

  • +3

Works with the mother-in-law too, she's salty

    • +2

      What if she's sultry?

  • +3

Goes really well with my pepper spray!

Seriously, I have one of these. Are they fun? YES! Is my 5yo in love with it? YES! Do I feel like a bad ass everytime I cock it and stare down hordes of flies? ABSOLUTELY!

Would I buy one again for effective use against North Qld flies? No, because it seems that NQ Flies are equipped with salt proof vests.

You will have to excuse me, its time to lock and load.

I cant wait for the chance to have friends over for a BBQ and giggle with glee when someone asks to pass them the salt.

    • Use a slightly coarser grain salt, I find the standard woolies table salt is too fine.

  • -4

    But not cheap though
this on ebay seems a better deal https://www.ebay.com.au/c/26026939906

    • +1

make sure you click the drop down and select "salt gun", I'm seeing $15 too, but it's just for a "sighting" click on sight or something

    • +1

      I believe that's $50 for an unbranded

      • Ah, ok sorry…

  • +7

    i have one of these.
they are fun as hell, u will be shooting every bug u ever see with it.
if u shoot your skin from under 80cm away it will pierce your skin.
i have shot my foot a couple of times, thank god i dont own a real gun…

    • Breaks skin up to 80cm away? Really? That's a lot more powerful than I thought!

They have videos of this shooting tomatoes from 3cm away and the tomato seems undamaged, though.

      • yeah ive seen a few vids like that. but i use larger salt granules than the regular table salt in most vids.

  • +1

    Hold up a second. What?

  • -7

Funny how animal cruelty laws, and people's supposed morality, don't seem to apply to insects.

Easy enough to usher bugs into a container with an envelope, and escort them outside.

    • Animal Cruelty laws don't apply to humans either.

    • +9

      Flies can go to hell.

    • +6

this morality. is a thing u made up in your own mind. its not the laws of the universe.

      • So is money. Doesn't mean it's without value.

        • cash money only has value because we believe it does. no other reason. we trade lies.

          exibit : Zimbabwe

          • -1

@ego22: You already said that. It doesn't mean all things made up have no value. Your life is built on lots of made up things, including your right but to be murdered randomly tonight.

    • +6

How do you usher a fly away… Go ahead I'll wait.

      • +2

        Train some herding cockroaches.

    • What if you're already outside?

    • Won't someone please think of the flies?

  • So you need to camouflage the gun just in-case the insect can see you coming right?

  • +4

"DO NOT SHOOT IN FACE OR EYES"

So have to shoot the flies in the back instead?

    • i wait untill they look and i see the fear in…..well, atleast one of their 6000 eyes.

  • Is this how El Chapo gets his packages across the border?

    • No it’s how i…He distributes it to customers though…

    • El Chapo is in jail.

His son recently got captured by the Mexican military but the cartel immediately freed him by explaining that their weaponry is a lot better and the military doesn't want to find that out the hard way.

      Drug laws create narco states.

  • Looking forward to the next bbq. Shouldn't be long now. Thanks OP

  • +7

If only the people in Starship Troopers knew about these they would have been fine.

    • Great Segway back to the 90's

    • +3

I would like to know more.

  • Waiting for a deal on the newer 3.0 model

  • +2

So it this suitable for use on fries as well as flies?

  • Man some people in the comment section is quite salty..

  • +3

This is so stupid and retarded.
    Bought one.

  • Darn I missed out

  • Anyone got any advice for something to take out spiders?

My Girlfriend has a habit of emptying an entire can of bug-spray every time we get a spider in the house.

Also, she has tried shovels… would prefer something that doesn't damage the walls or gas the rest of the house.

    • +1

Lol, I’m not sure there is any advice to help someone who thinks it’s good idea to hit the walls with a shovel…

If they’re only daddy-longlegs just leave them be as they help control other critters.

It’s probably easiest to train her how to use the insect spray correctly but why not just buy a good fly swatter? Also teach her how to put a glass over the spider and slip a piece of cardboard under it? You can also get insect vacuum attachments.

  • How effective are people finding their guns? I'm finding even with a direct hit, my flies are still buzzing
