  • So get $1 for free?

    • If you already spend more than $50 per year on eBay, then eventually, yes.

      • Can gift cards e.g. Woolworths gift cards be bought with this $50 voucher?

        • Theoretically no: "The Gift Card may not be used to pay eBay or PayPal service fees. The Gift Card also may not be used to buy eBay Gift Cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be "bullion" (for example, gold.."

          • +1

@Bargainbeth: Hmm shame. The price guarantee vouchers do allow this. Will have to experiment

            • @isthisreallife22: Oh haha. That's why I said theoretically. It may be in their terms but sometimes the mechanisms to uphold the terms aren't really there. So you potentially could ;)

              • @Bargainbeth: If they send a voucher code then you can. If they send a gift card then you can't.

                • @CVonC: Doe you know if you can use the one voucher for multiple smaller transactions?

                  • +1

@Jackson: do you mean separate? then nope. I think you forgo the remaining. so make sure cart has at least the full value of the voucher.

                    • @CVonC: Do you know if the cart can consist of items from different sellers that make up to $50?

    • +2

i bought mine for $39 as first time and obtained the $50 voucher. Overall earned $10 joining eBay plus :)

      • +1

Did you actually get charged $39? Because same thing had come up for me, said $39, got the message about the voucher too, but when I checked my PayPal, discovered I was actually charged $48.99 :/

        • 48.99 divided by 39 = 1.26 which, depending on when you signed up, could have been close to the USD>AUD exchange rate at the time? i.e. Maybe the cost was meant to be $39 USD?

          • @GregMonarch: It was on AU site though, all the other values are in AUD and the charge basically rounds up to the regular price of $49, but it came up as that amount in PayPal for whatever reason
With the current dismal exchange rate, 39 usd would be closer to 60 aud; as a stand-alone offer, the $39 deal has been confirmed by others, but I guess it wasn’t meant to stack with this offer …suppose at least one of them went through

          • @GregMonarch:

Maybe the cost was meant to be $39 USD?

Nah I never got the $39 deal, only the $49 one and was charged $48.99.

    • +1

In effect, not really. Unlike gift card, voucher can't be used together with discount coupon. You don't normally buy on eBay withiut discount coupon, no? So $50 voucher is not essentially $50 in your pocket. Not to mention there are also discount eBay gift cards on top.

      • +2

I signed up for this offer and used the $50 voucher they sent together with a discount code to take advantage of the $5 shopback offer yesterday. Works fine.

      • Unlike gift card, voucher can't be used together with discount coupon.

Yeah but you can use the voucher to buy a gift card ;)

        • Probably not that either: "The Gift Card may not be used to pay eBay or PayPal service fees. The Gift Card also may not be used to buy eBay Gift Cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be "bullion" (for example, gold.."

          https://pages2.ebay.com.au/ebay-gift-cards-terms-conditions

          • @Bargainbeth: Yeah looks like it'll be a GC not a voucher. But that's good anyway as you can stack them with eBay codes. Not sure what if the others from the previous deal have gotten theirs already. I don't think they have.

    • +3

Be aware that the eBay payment is processed through their Swiss bank account.
I paid PayPal with my Australian credit card (Commonwealth Bank) and got a foreign transaction fee because if this.

      • Macquarie bank solves this. No international transaction fees, easy online signup. (Not sure if their exchange rate is set higher so you lose any saving made though.)

        • I use a Bankwest Platinum Zero for international transactions. The CBA card gives more reward points so I would use that for domestic payments.
I wasn't expecting this to be a foreign transaction so I just used the normal card.

      • If they say the cost is $49aud, then surely they need to charge in AUD?

        • eBay charge $49aud but the payment is processed through an overseas bank (Switzerland) so if your bank charges an international transaction fee on overseas charges even if it is in Australian dollars you will get hit with the extra charges by the bank.

          • @AnophthalmiaCervidae: Surely it needs to be in swiss currency to be an international charge? There is no reason for a bank to charge you more if it's in AUD. I'd ask the bank to refund the charge.

            • @tunzafun001: Nope.
The bank on when International Transaction Fees apply:
“When you make a purchase or obtain a cash advance in Australian dollars while overseas, or while in Australia (for example online) where the merchant, or the financial institution or entity processing the transaction, is located overseas.”
There are better credit card options that do not attract such fees but I did not realise that “eBay Australia” process the payment through their Swiss bank account (to avoid paying tax in Australia) and I did not use my preferred card for “international” transactions.

Saw $20 voucher, no deal for me

    • +1

I actually got no such offer lol. Was my new phone, and wasn't yet signed in on the app.

What's your purchase history like? Maybe they're targeting just people who don't buy on ebay for a long time.

      • +3

time to make a second account and let it sit idle until I get good deals =\

        • Might just do the same xD

          • @Bargainbeth: Have 4 accounts for this purpose and unfortunately none targeted. Having said that I initially created for the purpose of getting Ebay plus for free 30 days, cancel and then let expire. Not sure if that makes a difference i.e. only being targeted to those that have not already had Ebay plus?

  • +2

Seems like too much effort for $1.

    • +2

You do also get a year of ebay plus.

  • +2

I'm still waiting on my $50 voucher from a couple of weeks ago. They said they have a large backlog.

    • What? As if it isn't instant in this digital world!

Do you need to spend the $50 in one hit?

    • +1

You haven't got the code in your ebay inbox? It only took 2 days to get my code when I got this offer in early November. I don't think I got an email, I just saw it in the inbox.

    • Took them 3 weeks to send my code.

    • +6

i'm still waiting for mine from a few weeks ago. Received a email about 1 week ago saying there was a "short" delay.
Obviously eBay doesn't sell dictionaries because their definition of Short is wrong.

    • I got word there was a delay too but received my voucher a few days later. Whole process took maybe a week or so.

  • +1

    Cheers. Signed up.

  • I'm offered $5 per month voucher for the year ($60).

    • +2

      Minimum spend applies.

      • +1

And typically cannot be used in conjunction with discount codes, further diminishing any value.

    • It has minimum spend of $50

  • +8

    Baffled by eBay's targeting algorithms.

I spent over $1,000 a month on eBay / plus for a year. But having opted out of auto renewal when I first signed up, there was no attempt at retention or resubscribing before or after it lapsed. I've spent $200 in the two months since, but have never had any corro or email about re-engaging me - and am evidently not eligible for this one either.

So be it - I get infinitely better value from my Prime subscription and Amazon are getting a much bigger chunk of my wallet as a result.

    • +4

I just logged out of the app and the offer displayed… Try logging out and selecting the offer and when it prompts you to login see what happens

      • +1

        Thanks - that worked immediately.

Never received targeted email, but $50 offer appeared when I logged out. Clicked on it…
My offer is to join for $39.

      • Worked for me too! Thanks!

Did it for an account that previously had eBay Plus too.

      • Thank you - this actually worked :)

      • +1

Mine just shows when I started and ended my ebay plus membership. Though the offer is on the page description, the pages itself doesn't display the offer after logging in for me.

      • This worked for me too.

      • I tried this and the banner popped up, when I log in it shows me this. Is it supposed to say anything about the gift card on this page? It doesn't show anything at all for me on desktop and $49 is a big outlay for a service I won't use, but I would use the gift card and take the service for free.

        • +1

Yeah that's what I got too. But if you look at the top it says "Join eBay Plus for a $50 eBay Gif…"

I added a Paypal payment and then screenshot the next screen after paying which shows "your $50 code will be delivered via email…"

This was all done on the app and not desktop.

    • +1

feeBay tend to offer you more if you don't use it for a while. I have a hardly used account where eBay offered me a $10 voucher once. I forgot to use it. eBay offered it again the next month. I let it expired again. Next month… you guessed it, feeBay offered it again. As soon as I used it, feeBay stopped offering that account any decent goodie.

If you want it, open additional feeBay accounts to increase your chance to get one of these.

      • +1

EBay becomes rubbish now, crap discount, price jack nest, I use ebay mainly for cheap stuff nowdays.

      • I don't think there is any pattern. I regularly use ebay but have still received offers other people didn't. Meanwhile, my 'wife' has an account too, which I rarely use, and it gets less offers. Other people here have said the opposite, that accounts they rarely use get more offers. So the only conclusion to be drawn is: there is no pattern to who gets targeted with offers.

The second piece of evidence for this view is of course the fact that it MAKES SENSE to target people who haven't bought in a while (in the hope it brings them back to buy more often) - and ebay rarely makes decisions that make sense.

    • Same. Amazon Prime has proven outstanding value for us. Well worth the sub.

eBay Plus sub OTOH is pointless. Dropped it after the trial. I didn't receive this offer BTW.

We CBF with Plus. I spent over $1k on two substantial eBay purchases this week alone, and although I'd rather have done better than the equivalent of -10%, I'm happy with auto 10% better than the seller's already competive regular online store prices without having to 'beg'. I only buy on eBay when codes are available. Done OK with -15% codes in conjunction with keen eye for a bargain buying over the past 12 months too.

    • Same eBay did not offer anything worthwhile for me to keep my subscription

  • +2

The $50 voucher you get will appear in your "My eBay" (Messages) area.
    Look for the following -

    From Subject
eBay Don't Forget: Your $50 Digital Gift Card is here 😍 🎁

If you still don't see the message you will need to contact eBay Support on 1800 322 928
It can take up to 5 business days before you see this.

Many have indicated previously that the deal generated alot of interest and support said their systems were slower than usual when generating these messages.

    • If targeted…

  • any idea how I can get this targeted? :(

    • +3

Based on the feedback from secondary accounts with low spend qualifying for this and similar offers and vouchers, and the absence of any such benefits from more prolific buyers, eBay seem to be training us to spend less if we want to be targeted for offers.

      I am complying…

    • In my experience, both my accounts which already used the eBay Plus trial (and did not continue subscribing) received this promo the previous time this was run.

My main account (which i make most of my purchases on) has yet to receive any eBay Plus offer.

  • +3

Bummed, got the message a month ago but didn’t see it, it expired Nov 27. Didn’t get this offer :(
Then again, when I did the ebay plus free trial, there was literally nothing I bought that qualified. And what annoyed me more, was when I went to purchase two items from the same seller, one qualified for free shipping with ebay plus, the other didn’t. I was so annoyed I bought neither,

  • +4

Thanks, can confirm that signing out of the app showed me the banner for this promotion

    • +2

As with lufee below, this worked for me as well, albeit clicking on banner yielded the normal $49 subscription page with no mention of the voucher as alluded on the clickable banner that takes you there.

After recent Ebay "deals" where $30 voucher offers took weeks or only resulting in $20 vouchers, I'd be sceptical about eBay's capacity to honour the deal.

    • Maybe it's time to make a new ebay account then ;) ebay seem to like new faces. Let us know if you try it and it works!

    • Worked for me. Joining fee of $39.

      • Mine also had joining fee of $39 on top of the $50 voucher, so I went ahead and signed up; the message about the voucher came up after paying however when I checked my paypal, I was actually charged $48.99, was that the case for you?

        • Read your other comment about that payment issue!!
Haven't paid yet - not sure I need eBay plus.

But have taken screenshots of the $50 offer & $39 fee, just in case.

          Contact eBay about the overcharge.

          • @INFIDEL: Ugh, I should’ve done that too in retrospect, but only took a screenshot of the $50 voucher message. I sent them an email anyhow, see how that goes, but don’t have high hopes about them honouring it, being stacked with the other offer …when something’s too good to be true.
Only bit the bullet since I have Christmas gifts sitting in my cart anyway, and there were some plus only offers I could’ve used when my trial ended. Anyway, thanks!

            • @Vivk: Happy shopping & hope eBay comes through with the refund👍

  • +2

I see the banner after logging in but if I click the banner it doesn't state anything about gift card on the sign up page. Is this the way?

    • You will only get a message that pops up after you have complete the payment (for eBay Plus subscription) to indicate that you will be getting the $50 Gift Card.

There is no actual confirmation/summary prior to payment about this offer attached.

  • I accepted the $39 offer from this deal but then never went through with the purchase. I still have the option of signing up for $39 but I want a better/targetted offer :(

  • +1

I was on eBay Plus trial and when I was cancelling, I got offered a $30 voucher to stay on but in which I still cancelled anyways.

Unless you shop at eBay few times a week then it's worth having it, but for those who shops at every once in a blue moon, well the answer is pretty obvious. eBay has to offer more something substantial than just free delivery and other sundries.

  • Hi guys.
what should i do if i was on Ebay plus trial ???. should i cancel it and sign up again to get 50$ gift card ?

    • +1

Its targeted so you may not get it if you don't fit eBay's criteria. Read the post.

      • -3

it doesnt say clearly if i was on free trial ebay plus.
I purchased alot with my Ebay trial so i fit ebays criteria dont i?

      • Just setup another account and grab another free 30days when the need arises. Just use the good Gmail trick of using + within your existing Gmail account eg. [email protected]. second account [email protected], third account [email protected]………..and so on.
Saves setting up lots of different mail accounts. Ok, you do need a Gmail account to begin with or just create one. Hope that makes sense?

  • signed up, thank you.

  • Checked my ebay messages. They've sent me this offer 3 weeks ago :)
    Still valid. Thank you.

  • +1

I had to log out from the app and then a banner came up with the promotion
I clicked on it, it made me sign back into my ebay acc and then paid with whatever.

When i was logged in the promo didnt come up.

    • Did you get info about $50 once you've paid?
"Your $50 code will be delivered via email……."

      • I did after logging out, clicking on the link then logging back in. I've already had eBay plus on this account too.

    • It says "Simply join Plus! Eligible customers only" i dont think i'm eligible

  • Great thank you. FYI: I had to log out to see this on the homepage.

  • I get the below error after clicking on the offer banner

Sorry, this program is currently only available for users registered on eBay.com.au and whose billing currency is Australian Dollars

  • F*** this is awesome, logged out from app and it worked! I paid $10 for shipping to grab a BF deal recently and was kicking myself there wasn't an eBay offer and I didn't grab the $20 offer when my trial ended.

Was seeing a bunch of deals with shipping costs from Bing Lee and getting upset.

  • Nice deal

  • Up to 10 business days to get $50 gift card - pays for eBay plus so you get it free

  • Only just seen that I was sent this back on 6 November. Couldn't see anywhere any mention of specifically when it expires, but online chat told me it's expired. Glad I didn't sign up.

  • Got the $50 voucher 3 days after I signed up for the trial. Hope it is still valid when it expires come 5th Dec for me.

  • Tried signing out, saw and accepted the offer but when prompted to sign back in, offer isn’t mentioned on payment page

    • +1

You get the message after you completed purchase. "Your $50 code will be delivered via email…". I assume it’s a stackable code?

      • Hey thanks!!
I also tried clicking on the $39 deal someone else posted and then tried this again, and they stacked. Paid $39 and got the message about the voucher being delivered in the coming days. Neat, glad I didn’t accept the $30 off deal when I ended my trial.

  • I was targeted for this a few weeks ago. Gift card took a few days to land in my inbox, and after that I picked up some SD cards for free, stacking another coupon with the card and Plus' free delivery. Good deal.

  • +7

Upvoting, and how I did it for anyone in same boat

I have already paid for and cancelled ebay plus

1 Using chrome, I was logged into ebay
2 Went to ebay plus, no offer
3 Logged out, no offer seen (however, I could see in the top left that it still said "Hello Keegan (sign in)"
    4 So I cleared cookies
5 Went back to ebay plus page, where in the top left it just said "Sign in"
6 Saw offer halfway down ebay plus landing page, screenshotted (T&Cs say you only have to see the banner and click through)
7 Went through to payment, paid with paypal
8 Successful payment, and received a message that said "once your payment clears you will receive your $50 digital ebay gift card in your inbox" (also screenshotted this)

    Hope this helps
