        For security reasons, do NOT use that method that everyone is doing to get around the ban. Don't even buy this phone if you want to use Google Services.
        You're setting a random Chinese website as your remote phone administrator, which means they have full access to your phone's details, logs, history, everything you do including your banking and payments.

          YOU ARE REALLY STUPID if you believe what you just said. You are setting a random Chinese website as your remote administrator WHEN YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SYNCED YOUR CONTACTS YET, let alone any fictional banking apps that you have no way of installing safely in the first place.

          After installing GMS, simply deactivate the administrator and start using your phone with contacts synced, downloading banking apps etc.

          No one, except you apparently, would start using the phone - that's manually loading all their banking apps, contacts etc then decide to install GMS.

      For Youtube and gmail, you can at least have third party apps.

    I did some background reading when the debacle began. The loss of GApps means much more than just the Google Apps. Google also had something called SafetyNet which verifies your phone signature against the signature they have in their cloud to make sure your phone has not been tampered with or rooted. Huawei phones losing this certification could potentially have issues with payment apps where the apps usually checks whether your phone has been rooted, etc.

    Getting GApps back onto the phone is not hard, but convoluted and involves you putting some trust in xda developers.

    I did consider getting the Mate 30 Pro before, but given that the phone is basically crippled when in this part of the world means that I would probably not get it unless it is dirt cheap, although reviews of the phone have all pretty much said the phone is one of the best phones ever made.

    My information could be wrong, please do your own research.

        I doubt it. IMHO, I feel that the general sentiment in America is that Trump is doing a good job as president, even though the media openly mocks him all the time. If I am a betting man, my gut feeling is that Trump is more likely to win a second term mainly due to the fact that the Democrats do not even have a strong candidate to go up against him. I am not saying this because I am a Trump supporter or anything, I actually don't really care who wins in American elections.

        The second reason is some xda developers have looked under the hood of the Mate 30 Pro and found that Huawei seem to have baked in their own superuser permissions, probably to circumvent standard Android permissions. Why Huawei did this is anyone's guess, but I doubt Huawei will get off USA's security blacklist anytime soon.

Think heavy weight Huawei suddenly deciding to not become #1 phone maker in the world by turning their back on official Android altogether or relying on half baked and hacked and slashed version of ASOP from now on.             @dotJaz: Sure. Please do a Google search for "huawei mate 30 pro androidmanifest.xml". A few bloggers have noted that there are some "suspicious" Huawei specific permissions. I am not suggesting Huawei is doing anything wrong, perhaps it is put there to enable Huawei phone users to install GApps easily as you need superuser level permissions to install Google Play Services, who knows but it is a bit suss.

      I bought a phone that ended up being tampered and rooted. So it doesnt have access to banking apps, netflix and payment. Can only do it through browsers.

        If you still have the phone, I believe you just flash it back with the manufacturer rom and it should be ok. You just need to find the rom for the specific region of the original rom.

          I was able to flash it back to the original which fixed some underlying issues. But it's still unlocked.

          Some XDA users said it may be a bad idea to relock it

          Based on my recent experience, without all the tracking bloatware a 3 year old lg v20 performs better than most flagships

      In a lot of respects, this is a downgrade to the P30 Pro. Doesn't have the periscope 5x lens of the P30 Pro and no GApps is a killer. Honestly imo, they really shouldn't be selling at these prices if they aren't Google certified anymore.

    Amazing phones, such a shame about the trade war / sanctions imposed on Huawei. It's going to be a problem with the upcoming P40 Pro too which is said to be similar to the Mate 30 Pro with the amazing Cine Lens + a Periscope lens like the P30 Pro but possibly 10X instead of 5X. It too will be a great phone few outside of China will buy.

    Huawei in my opinion are way better than any other Android phone for photography, and in the case of the Mate 30 Pro, videography too. Maybe Samsung will catch up with everyone else next year.

    Here's hoping a deal is coming to give Huawei GMS access again.

    As previously mentioned, it is easy to install Google apps… According to XDA forum, Google Pay is the only app that is not working. Maybe a few bank apps… (Safetynet)
    I really like my Huawei P20 Pro but I paid less than 800.00 for it about 18 months ago… The hardware of the Mate 30 Pro is amazing but I don't really feel compelled to spend 1,399.00 on this phone right now. I'm not enjoying the trade war… :(

    Finally, that's the normal price for the phone + freebuds, nothing amazing unless you want that robot.

    I have one of the 200 codes that Huawei gave to buy the phone but I've never spent more than 1k on a phone anyway… Huawei should have been more aggressive in terms of price because my code expires tomorrow and I am not buying a phone without Google for this price.

    Mobileciti probably has a few in stock that no one will buy (because it is supposed to be restricted to the 200 fans that got the code), but I imagine they have more phones than people interested, even when they have the code, like I do (expires tomorrow but with this offer on eBay the code is no longer required).

    Initially, it was 1599.00 and when I used the (required) voucher I'd get a 200.00 discount. If the 200.00 discount was over the 1399.00, I'd be thinking about that: Mate 30 Pro + Freebuds, for 1199.00.
