they were willing the endanger the national security of their own country against the wishes of their president just to sell Windows?

As many put it, Trump is a lap dog of Putin and Scomo is a lap dog of a lap dog, I'm not sure what kind of breed ASIO is though…

          • +2

@Jamesx: So Putin really doesn't like Huawei does he?

            • +2

@lostn: Huawei is a scapegoat, the purpose is to keep some alfa status to do whatever they want to do, refer to my msg below, you can simply change Aussie to US or Russia or …

@Jamesx: So… The spyware doesn't come free with the laptop?

@Calcifer: Why u care spyware when Snowden said US has backdoors on their products everywhere

For what it's worth I have the matebook pro version and the build quality is top notch - I believe that these two are pretty much the same minus some basic features but in any case, very solid

We are Australian, we ban ideologist like you.

      • -4

        In history,
Aussie governments mascared first nation people, discriminated Chinese from Gold Rush, then dentained Aussie German and Japanese in WWII, stolen generations, and somehow protected organisations who abused large group of children and youth over decades.
Some Aussies discriminated Southern EU migrants, Asians, Africans, Muslims etc.
Now the main stream seems to say Chinese = China = Communist = Dictator = Hitler etc, I can't even tell if it's racist or ideologist anymore.

          • +13

@Jamesx: I negged all your worthless comments because you're a bloody peanut.

            • -3

@ameno: So my history part is not wrong, but worthless to mention? Or because it hurts because it's true? At least people not neg that which gives us hope.
And you admit begged that comment, unlike others.

              • +6

@Jamesx: It's not clear what point you are trying to make. If your point is "Australia has done bad things" then yeah, you're right. But it's not constructive - it's just a rehash of bad things that have happened in Australia.

What this blooper rule of sins have to do with a laptop isn't exactly clear, hence, downvotes 🙂.

Also you do realise that you started by telling us to discriminate against China by not buying this laptop, but then included discrimination against the Chinese in the gold rush as a bad thing? So aren't you perpetuating this discrimination by telling us to avoid things sold by a group of people?

The US and UK are more of a threat to our sovereignty than China. They own more of our land, companies, assets and politicians too.

      • +1

That is some crazy-ass CCP shilling!

          • -1

@RickyJ: The communist government control of Chinese-owned companies in Australia is the real threat. Not mere foreign-ownership of Australian companies acting independently of their home country's governments, with decisions motivated by commercial interests.

            • @rokufan: Why is the CCP such a threat to you?

              • @RickyJ: It would be a shorter answer if you tell me why it is not?

            • @rokufan: I'm not worried about CCP at all but I am worried about Monsanto, Boeing, Serco, Adani, Shell, BP, etc.

              • @RickyJ: Profit-motivated companies don't have their own militaries, nor desire for world hegemony.

                • @rokufan: profit motivated companies are exactly that. That don't care about the environment, ethics or morals. They only care about what maximises their profit. They do indeed covertly own militaries, politicians and I could even argue that they own you. You knew over 50 corporate logos before you could even speak. They manufacture your consent without you even knowing that they are doing it. Serco that I mentioned about controls all nuclear arms in Europe. Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics… the list goes on. These companies all make up the US MIC and their only interest is to make money from war. The whole Chinese philosophy has always revolved around peace. They didn't set sail to conquere the world like European nations did. Despite having the best technology, they built a wall around themselves to keep us out.

Having said that, I've played with the Mi (Xaomi) copy of the same thing, it did look really great/solid.
