I believe this is the cheapest it's ever been? Best I can recall is $531. I have to assume this will not come bundled with any games, so you do lose on some value there, but it's no different than most other ebay deals.

If you know what you are doing as far as undervolting and tweaking the fan curve (or do a tiny bit of research), the thermals are not an issue. The noise may or may not be - I find blower noise to not be as offensive as normal fans, but to each their own.

    having used the ASUS reference one since about 3 weeks after launch, I can vouch and say it's not too bad, but certainly very noticeable (if you don't have headphones on). If there is music / game sounds with my earphones in (se215, so admitedly they are very isolating), I can't hear it at all, and with speakers you can hear it.

  I think the Saphire 5700XT had some good reviews.. not sure if they were reference or a different model have to scrounge and look for the comparisons again.
