        • Good to know. Thanks.

        • Ah dunno. Just seems a lil risky to be committed to a 12 month plan at the full price of $65 a month if there is no guarantee anyone will knock it back down to the $45 a month.

  • +1

Are any of these dual sim

    • +2

      Pixel 4 is dual Sim.

      • +1

Pixel 4 is dual Sim but since the second Sim is an e-sim your choice of telco might be limited.

  • +1

Forget about the samsung Buds. I claimed for buds on 29 Oct 2019. Their redemption site says that my claim is verified but nothing happen afterwards. I haven't receive the buds yet. Its 6weeks now.
Btw Samsung wont reply ur email and phone call.

    • +1

That's typical Samsung promotion elapsed time. Basically, Samsung promotion team will take close to maximum allowed time as specified in the terms and conditions to send you the item(s) or cashback. With Christmas coming up and previous black Friday, Cyber Monday purchases, there is currently a slight delay in regular parcel delivery.

To be fair, a lot of other promotions from other companies are like this, though generally not this slow.

    • +1

When was it validated?. Mine got validated on 5th Nov, received on 9th Dec

    • +1

They answered my phone call within 10 minutes of being on hold and happily answered my questions.

  • +1

In order to use the phone on another carrier, would these phones need to be unlocked? How does one go about doing that?

    • +4

Should be unlocked, if not, the typical method is call Tel$tra and tell them you are going overseas and need to use an overseas SIM while away. Tel$tra staff will attempt to sell you their overseas roaming packages, just tell them the overseas SIM has unlimited data for $10 a month with free unlimited local calls.

    • +2

      Unlocked

  • +1

Probably been asked before but can't seem to find it in the previous posts:

Can I buy and register a Kogan sim today and then port tomorrow or is there a minimum time before being allowed to port for this deal?

    • +2

You are fine activating a sim (from a carrier other than Telstra) and porting immediately.

  • +2

Is it just on tomorrow? Or will it be on over the weekend? My contract ends Friday but I am out of town until then.

    • +2

It's going over the weekend but it's best to try get it tomorrow. Last time the phones were out of stock in most stores by the end of the first day.

  • Sorry what does port-in customers mean?
Can anyone explain how I go and buy a pixel 4?

    • +1

It means you need to bring a service from another provider over to Telstra

    • +1

Port in, you must be with another carrier, then port into telstra.
You go to JBhifi and talk to someone about wanting to take up this offer.

  • +1

waiting for another redemption deal to be included… like the watch..

  • +1

Offt been eyeing of an S10e for a bit now, problem is I have a Telstra plan at the moment… anyone got any game plans? I have other "burner" sims sitting around but dont want to be paying $65 pm on one of those for 12 months!

    • +2

Last time this deal came around I ported from Telstra to a prepaid optus sim. I did this in an optus store under the pretence of testing out the service before fulling committing, they set up everything for me and got my number straight away. About 4 days later I went into JB and spoke to one of the reps, I was just honest with them about what I'd done and they were happy to help the process. Ultimately I think the JB reps are required to ask how long you've been away from Telstra and or on your current carrier but it's up to them to enforce the 30 day rule if they want to. Best thing to do is to go into a JB store and tell them what your planning, if they flat out refuse go to another store there are plenty around. Good luck!

      • +1

I'll give it a shot, thanks for the info!

      • +2

I thought it is the Telstra rep on the phone that enforces the 30 day rule since they have visibility of it, not the JB rep?

        • +1

Honestly you may be correct and I can only really speak to the experience I had, but the JB rep knew that I had ported out a few days prior and had no difficulty putting it through. It's possible that when you port out of a telco they remove that number from the account and or don't have immediate access to it's past, although that's pure speculation on my part. I've used this method twice for my wife and myself and only ran into an issue with my wife's number because we tried to sign up the day we ported out. The JB rep told us that there are about 8 steps to validate and port a phone number, about half are done automatically and are immediate and the other steps are done manually (mostly legal stuff that can't be trusted to automate). This is why when you port a number normally to another carrier it takes about 5 mins to complete with most of that time being the activation of the SIM card not the verification of the number. The other steps don't effect the operation of the phone number and are more about account management. Take all of this with a grain of salt though, as I said it's at best second hand information with a bit of speculation thrown in.

    • +1

$99 for the phone + $390 for etc + maybe $65 for the 1 month plan.

When I did it I got etc waived by transferring to MTM contract then porting out resulting in $99 + $12~ for partial first contract + $18~ for partial second MTM.

    • +2

Are you still on contract? If not, get this new plan on a new number and go to the Telstra store and ask them to swap the numbers on both your plans, then cancel the old plan that has the new number.

      • +1

Just tried a few JB's over the phone and they've all advised it cannot be done. They have also confirmed their process in store is to check that the port in hasnt been completed within 30 days of signing up. This is stores in SA so may vary in other states!

        • +3

You missed my point. Go and get a new plan from another Telco (I used Vodafone, costs $10) and use it to port in the the JB deal. Once done, go to a Telstra store and have them swap the numbers from each plan to the other (yes, they can and should - they did this for me on 2 separate occasions). Then cancel your old plan that had the new number, and keep the new plan and old number.

          • +1

@RangaWal: I'm currently on a boost plan, would this method still work?

            • +1

@cmdbash: Good question - my accounts were all Telstra

              • +1

                @RangaWal: Okay.

Is there any restriction on swapping numbers? Like can you swap the numbers if one plan is pre-paid and the other is this plan?

      • Hey RangaWal - great advice, after reading this just went and did it. Got an Optus SIM and then ported to the new contract. Went to online chat and got them to move the new account and override my old account and close the new number. Worked perfectly. Next month I will go into store and drop down from a $65 to a $45 month plan

        • Your welcome :)

  • +1

Have a plan finishing the middle of December any ideas on how to keep the number and get this deal?

    • +2

Get this new deal with a new number and go to the Telstra store and ask them to swap the numbers on both your plans, then cancel the old plan that has the new number.

      • +1

i tried swapping number. they said they can't swap number if it's with jb Telstra plan can only give you a new generated number from their system

        • Wonder why they did it for me? Twice.

          Maybe they realised the loophole?

        • This is what I had read online

        • i successfully did this via online chat 2 weeks ago.

  • +2

For those wanting to get this deal and flip the phone, be mindful that you won't profit much if you opt for the Pixel 4

    • True…

      Phone cost $199
      Termination charge $390
      One month $65

So you must sell the phone for more than $650 or so

  • +1

Can you port in from boost?

What would be a way to go about porting boost to another provider than back to Telstra ?

    • +1

      No

    • +2

You can, but I am not sure JB Hi Fi staff knows how to do it. You need to obtain a special blank SIM from Telstra. You cannot use a standard Telstra SIM.
Porting to another provider than back to Telstra might be easier if you want to get this deal. However, please bear in mind that once you ported to another provider, wait at least full 24 hours before doing the port to Telstra. Don't do two ports on the same day (or less than 24 hours) as it completely messes things up and tends to cause the source team or the second port (whoever the provider you picked) to reject the porting request to Telstra.

      • +1

You can, but I am not sure JB Hi Fi staff knows how to do it. You need to obtain a special blank SIM from Telstra.

Boost wont count for this deal. it is the same as Telstra

  • +1

    port in from kogan?

    • +2

Kogan is Vodafone so you should be fine

      • +1

        prepaid is instant porting

  • +1

Does anybody now what is the pixel 4 value on the receipt? I am going overseas and would like to get the gst back. I read on here the s10e is billed for $1000, so gst should be about $100

    • +1

      1049 pixel and s10e 999

    • +3

I will get s10e for the value

      • +1

S10e is much better then. I will try to get an s10e keep a bit and then probably I will sell (after my trip overseas anyway)

  • +1

This would be great for my 24 month pixel 2 contact that ends in a few days. Unfortunately I'm going to miss out as I'm heading overseas tomorrow morning. Hopefully they have some decent boxing Day deals.

  • +1

Apologies if I am a bit silly but when I click on "Go to Deal" it just goes to the JB Hifi website and I cannot find the deal. Is there another way to see it or another link? Thanks.

    • +1

      Sales kicks off tomorrow

  • +1

What are the chances I could go in today? How much is the upfront payment?

    • +1

      low, depends, no.

  • +1

    Where even is link?

    • +1

      In store only

  • +1

    Currently with Telstra prepaid.

Can I port out for a week and then port in and take up the offer?

  • +1

Has anyone ever successfully gotten $10 port in credit for JB HIFI TELSTRA plans? If so, how did you do it (other than saying JB told you you could, when they didn't actually)

    • +1

Damn I thought they stopped that around June/July when they brought out the new plans. Don't think it's been around since but there is still antics with switching to the $40/m or even $60/m plan at Telstra in the comments.

  • +1

With the 12 month plan with Telstra:
    1) After 12 months do I keep the S10E or must I give it back to Telstra?
    2) If I can keep it, can I move to another provider or stay with Telstra?

  • +1

So for the people that picked up the Galaxy s10e and Pixel 4 from the last deal how are you finding the phones? What are the cameras like? I really need to upgrade my phone tomorrow as i broke my Note8 about 5 months ago and have been using a Huawei nova. its fine as a phone and for the internet but the camera is lacking.

    • +2

and how is battery life for pixel 4? Especially if using the camera a whole day…

      • +1

Pixel 4's battery is not great, however its not as bad as its made out to be. I have access to power and have a power bank most of the day so its not that big of a deal. I also upgraded to that from an Iphone 8 so everything is pretty great for a phone I paid $200 for.
The pixel 4 camera is great though. Auto-focusing makes it easy, and all the other options including the astrophotography mode all work well.

      • I get about 36 hours based on usage.

    • +1

I got the Pixel 4 and the camera is stellar indeed. If camera is important then get the Pixel. The Samsung looks nicer but the camera is okay at best. Especially with moving objects.

The 90hz display on the Pixel is buttery smooth. I enjoy mine forced on always 😁

The battery life is average but if you have a charger at work or in the car you won't mind. I usually don't need the charger but if you're a heavy user and don't have access to a charger, then pick another device

      • If camera is important, get an actual camera right? Going from P4XL to S10E, I only notice maybe 1 in 20 shots that are not great. Video is much better.

  • +1

If the S10e is locked to Telstra, will it work with Boost Mobile (a Telstra Mobile Virtual Network Operator) or would I need to get it unlocked somehow?

    • +2

      It's not locked

  • +1

How much would it sell for on gumtree (pixel 4).

Thinking of selling it to buy a Huaweii pro 30 ;-)

    • +1

better off getting s10e then. P4 going average is $700 to $800.

    • Lots of timewasters, lowballers and scam artists. Even at a reasonable price.

  • +1

Anyone been able to pay the difference to upgrade this to another phone?

  • +1

If I recently ported over to the $65 plan at the start of the month (received the $500 credit). Is it possible to still get the s10e for $99 now?

  • +1

Is this phone worth upgrading from an S8?

I'm out of contract this month and i'm paying $59 atm for 20GB data.

    • Yeah this is my query. Not sure whther to jump on this or wait for deals when S11 gets released. Either for the S11 or subsequent drop in s10e costs.

      • I might jump on this and downgrade the plan if possible, do you know if this is the case?

        • User GAU on the previous page apparently tried but they wouldn't entertain it:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/504362#comment-8102404

          :(

          • @tazmaniak: Not sure what to do LOL, either wait for another deal or jump on this as i'm paying $59 already.

I heard the S8 and S10e isn't much of a difference, I think the S8 resolution is better.

            • @truongnguyen92: I've been very happy with the s8. Only reason I'm upgrading is so I can give it to my wife as the camera in her s7 is way inferior to the s8.

  • Be aware they are strict about the 30 day port in and port out rule. Im on day 30 and was not permitted to sign up to this deal. They call Telstra to check your eligibility.

  • I have just gotten off the chat with Telstra and they can do a change of ownership from one plan to another. I currently have a SIM only plan on Telstra (from the a JB HiFi gift card deal). $45 (less another $10 port in credit) so $35 and a $200 gift card.
I will be signing up to this plan from porting a new Optus SIM number I have just started for $5. Once my new Telstra plan is up, I will go online or in shop and have them cancel my old SIM only plan and move the number across to the new plan. As mentioned just confirmed this on the online chat with Telstra. I kept a log of the chat in case they won't do it at the time. I also did see in a previous comment that someone has already done this

    • Update - It worked perfectly - they just updated my old plan with the new plan and closed the new number I started

  • If i have an existing telstra plan, port out today to a Optus prepaid and go into store to try activate this, will it work? Or can i just ask them instore to include me in this deal? Any help appreciated!

    • yes, no, maybe. no point of asking, some say it has worked, some say it hasn't. depends on the JB salesperson at the time you go.

      • I can keep you posted, ill be going to JB this arvo that have confirmed they should be able to help!

        Trying a few methods.

        1. Port in from Kogan pre paid and cancelling without ETC.
        2. Port in from Kogan and then cancel current Telstra plan and transfer number
        3. Port out and then back in. (already ported out of Telstra on a spare sim ready to test)

        Will keep you updated.
