Thanks. Cheap meals for the parents.

  • +6

Had it cheaper, no dice. Also my last lot of meals were crappy.

However, should we expect the same negs for BP posts for destroying marine life? Or Nestle for dressing up as nurses in Africa and giving just enough free baby formula to the new mums so by the time they finish it they cannot produce milk and have to buy their product? Fascinated with the line between 'bad' business and ones that escape all criticism

  • +4

Sorry OP, not negging you but negging the company for obvious reasons

    • +2

      no worries :)

  • +5

    Thanks OP

  • +5

    Racists

  • +1

OzAsian coming in hot with the negs 😂

  • +1

Didn’t they issue a public apology? Not trying to defend their actions but at what stage would you consider them to have repented ??

    • +11

They were only repentant because they got caught and realised it would impact their bottom line.

They can apologise as much as they want, there true colours have been exposed.

      • +1

Of course people repent when they get caught. It’s called learning from ones mistakes. The question is whether they realise what they did was wrong and have the learned from it. Isn’t that how life works?

The question really is were they sincere and have the learned.

        • +4

The question really is were they sincere and have the learned

We will never know, and frankly, I'm not prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Keep in mind they were caught making very deliberate racist comments against Asians whilst in Singapore, when they surely know a percentage of their customer base is Asian, and Asians apparently make a large proportion of their work force.

          Appaulling.

    • +4

He told The Courier Mail that he and Stott, an actress, model and businesswoman, were regretful and felt "lousy", with their actions not reflective of the "way we feel". “We deeply apologise for any offence this misjudgement has caused,”.

Not much of an apology and even if it was, those feelings came from somewhere. Some people don't want to support that behaviour at all. While others still choose to support Chris Brown…

I'm a little confused with all the comments about racism.
I'm from WA. The only racists that I have been concerned about are the ones that blew up one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in the late 80's.

As for small minded bogans that derive mirth from making stupid videos, which mock others watching videos, making videos or taking photos, who cares?

I mean seriously, how many of you making comments about the institutionalised racism are even Asian? And if you're not, then what gives you the right to decide what is and isn't offensive to Asians?

I for one don't give a rat's arse what comments these people make. As my mum always said, it speaks more to their character than to yours. People who have to resort to petty racist comments are obviously insecure. After all, she is what? 34 going on 42? Her best years are behind her, while Asians her age look 18.
Give her this I say, before she starts morphing into Gina Reinhart. That's her future.

And yes, I do see the irony of my own petty racist comments.

Besides, being Asian, who cares about racist comments if it's a good deal?

    • +1

Checkout the OzBargain Meetup photos, I would say 70% of those in the pictures are of an Asian background.

Hence the amount of negs for racism.

      • +3

Of course the majority are Asian. Bargain hunting is like a cultural badge of honour. My Mum would scold me if I didn't buy practically everything on discount.

My comments was regarding those posting negative votes.

The two are not a causal link. i.e. a correlation between two variables does not imply causation. That is just flawed logic.

    • +16

Don't need to be Asian to choose not to give my patronage to people who behave this way. Their behaviour was disgusting.

      • +7

And to spread awareness / remind others not to support those who behave this way!

        • +1

Stupid, uneducated, inane comments like this mean less than nothing, and have even less significance. That anyone would even take stock in these comments or place any importance on them at all is ridiculous. As my mum always told me, these comments say more about the person making them.

What upsets me far more is all the cultural misappropriation. And yes I mean you with the man bun squawking on about the best little ramen bar in some laneway.

This tweet (courtesy of Bôh @jere_bare) sums it up for me:

“I’m proud of my culture, including the extreme barriers marginalized people within that culture have had to overcome, for it to simply be subject to consumerism and cater to a white audience is parallel to colonial ideology.”

          • +1

            @Tiggrrrrr:

            ramen

I don't eat ramen, too many carbs!

          • @Tiggrrrrr:

And who are you to say what people shouldn't be offended by? Maybe it doesn't bother you, or you have a thick skin to not care, but obviously there are plenty of people here who were personally offended by those videos, and would rather not support this company. To call such sentiments 'ridiculous' is extremely patronising.

            • @SydStrand: Good question. Who are you to judge if someone is being extremely patronising?

      • Agreed, wouldn’t support them out of principle.

  • +10

First time I'm joining a moral outrage bandwagon :)
The founder is a racist who gives Aussies a bad name!

  • +7

    Racists

  • +8

    • +1

Are they also underpaying their workers? (profanity)!

      • +2

Saw it on recent news, many not getting paid proper entitlements etc, majority affected are from immigrant background too.

    • thats no reason to downvote……. oh wait lol

      • +2

actually $30 discount for WA customers is nothing too as postage cost $25 I think

    • -2

      Apple also underpay their workers.

  • +6

Probably going to buy some but still racist l0l

    • +4

Don't do it man! Money is more powerful than neg votes!

  • -6

Holy shit ozbargain gets butt hurt about a few comments. Judging my the ozbargain meet up photos I can understand why 😂

    • +1

Judging my the ozbargain meet up photos I can understand why

  • +5

    Shit food, shit company

  • +5

    racist crap

  • +5

Racist and also not a deal given how much you need to spend

  • +7

Can guarantee almost every person negging has either made or thought a racist remark at some point in their lives. Get off your high horses you hypocrites.

    • +3

Exactly. It's not just the round-eyes making racist comments. ;)
My (Hokkien) relatives constantly use the term ang moh (or ang mo kow), and I often hear Cantonese using the term gwailou.

As for defining what is and isn't racist, lets take a look on the flipside.

In the laowai life blog there was heated debate amongst expats about whether they found the term offensive or not. Certain people didn’t mind the term at all; others saw it as hard evidence of Chinese racism. If they can't decide amongst themselves, then how is a non-white person going to decide if it is offensive or not?

    • +1

For me personally, racism aside, I have bigger issues w the way the company is being run & how they treated their staff, the quality of the product & size has reduced and the most importantly the way they handle feedbacks.

Fair enough for deleting the cry of racism (as that can be set aside as the personal view of the founder) but not addressing the valid criticism about staffs or product quality is a big no- no.

Rarely I seen other publicly listed company with such bad PR & customer. Deleting feedbacks (as well as defiantly publishing deals like giving discount for giving feedbacks, essentially 'bribing' customer) showed a sign that ultimately they don't really care about the quality & their brand.

And for a company that touted itself as focusing in health or wellness, this is quite an oxymoron & left a bad taste in my mouth

      • +2

        *customer service

        • "I have bigger issues w[ith] the way the company is being run & how they treated their staff"

Now this is a good reason to promote negative press toward them. If only to entice a response from the company.

Underpayment of workers, and not sticking to the award is endemic across Australia.

Big companies like Myers ask their staff to clock in 15 minutes prior to their shift, then close out their register and clock out 15 minutes after their shift ends, but don't pay for that time. Similarly many businesses expect their managers to open and close for the day but don't pay for that time.

          Fair pay, for fair work.

  • Does anyone know if the LARGE meals are worth it? I find the standard ones a bit too small.

    • they reckon they were about 30% larger and 30% increase in normal price. for me they were large enough (though i did follow it up with some chocolates later at night)

      • Thanks. Let's see then. I will get some large and 2 x standard for 5.95 ;-)

        • +1

i find the mymusclechef meals to be much bigger than youfoodz, but its hard to compete at this price point with the code. I find the muscle chef meals to be much better quality too, so you could try those too :)

  • +1

    Thanks OP good prices.

  • Racism and discrimination exists everywhere. Implied, direct, indirect or even subconsciously

On a scale of 1-10 these guys are maybe 1

    • Wonder what counts as a 10, then. Paula Deen? Papa John?

  • +3

    Eww-foodz

    NOTHANKYOU+30

Never tried them before and it looks like never will.

  • +5

    Disgusting Company.

  • +5

I don't support this company due to the racist values of their founder and his partner.

  • +5

Sadly I'm Asian and I couldn't resist the deal… cheap enough for me…

    • +1

Thank you for reinforcing the point I was trying to make.

    • -2

      Shame…..

  • +3

    YouBadz

  • +3

    Racciiiissstttt

Plus not enough veges in these things. U will end up getting ulcers.

I was on it for a month

    • You got ulcers after a month? Perhaps there is an underlying problem here, as I doubt it has to do with pre-packaged meals.
Have you checked for an auto immune disease? Are you on non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs? Do you have an iron deficiency, or lacking in Vitamin B? Did you have prolonged or recurrent burping? This may be a sign of helicobacter pylori, causing gastritis.

What kind of ulcers are you referring to?
If gastric, then studies have found that increased Vitamin A intake can aid in production of mucus in the gastrointestinal tract, and aid in defence against liver disease. And on of the best sources is liver. Last time I checked this wasn't a vegetable?

Also diets high in oats, barley, psyllium husk, flax seeds and nuts showed a better defence against stomach ulcers. Again, with the exception of peanuts, none of these are vegetables.

With regard to H. pylori mentioned above, foods that help include yogurt, berries, olive oil, honey and herbal teas. As well as foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids (i.e. oily fish).

There has been some evidence to promote a diet high in vegetables to support treatment of ulcers, however there are other foods that will work also.

Code no longer works from the looks of things.

But looks like thats a good thing that I can't place an order after reading about the CEO.

  • Code didn’t work for me

  • +5

Racist. Food quality isn't that good anymore.

    • +3

I miss the days of good quality racist food.

  • +2

    Codes not working anymore

  • +1

    Great deal. Thanks op

  • +1

Good value, I placed 3 orders - thanks OP!

  • +4

Yeah won't ever buy from this company. CEO is a bogan & racist.

  • +4

    Racism should never be tolerated.

  • +6

I’m Asian and I bought some foodz. Cheap food is cheap food. Commence downvoting

    • Exactly my point. Cheap is Cheap.

      • What do you think about the exploitation/ low wages of garment industry workers in Bangladesh so that the known brands can make huge profit by producing "cheap" clothing? Does this rational "Cheap is Cheap" justify their exploitation? Cheap isn't always ethical. We all love bargains but that shouldn't come at the cost of discrimination/ exploitation of any sense, whether race, gender or anything else.

        • 1) Exploitation isn't the same as a racist comment. Unless you can point out who is being exploited in the video?
          2) I'm pretty sure that this food isn't made in Bangladesh.

            • @ozioziozi: Thankyou. I have read the article in the link you provided.
Could you point me to findings of wrongdoing from a court or government body with regard to the allegations made in the article? It would be interesting to see what the ruling was, and what transgressions were made.

However, this was not my point. If you have read my comments, you will see they are all regarding the issue of RACISM. This is not arguable, as there is video evidence. Hence I am not presuming to make a judgement on innocence or guilt. They were being racist.

If your gripe is regarding exploitation, then that is your right, but exploitation is not racism per say, and as far as I can tell in the article there has been no ruling of wrongdoing.

As an aside, do you think it is okay to break the law, then be rewarded for it?

  • +1

If you really hate the company from them you’d abuse a deal like this where they’re probably making a loss.

    • +2

That's not how it works ;)
Looks at the people who smash/burn products, destroy their Gillette razors, etc when the company does something wrong.

      • Really not going to follow up that smug as hell comment with an explanation on how getting a deal where the company is so obviously making a loss or at best MINISCULE profit does not hurt their bottom line?

  • +3

    Institutional racism.

    • +1

      Please explain how.

      • They are racist against Institutions?

  • +3

    Racists

  • +3

Racism against all races is bad. Watch the video

  • +2

    Bad company and racists

  • -2

Nice work everyone all the action sold this one out .
BTW another deal need some action too guys the $20 deal .
Main point your negs helping the company get sales whether you like it or not .

    • -1

Lol, it's true. So many negs, yet would you really want 'us' as your customer anyway? I mean we only buy when there is a huge discount, lots of people carrying on like they pay retail and the company is going to go bankrupt without them.

Not when you don't buy until it's a ridiculous percentage off you don't.

The company may be somewhat happy most aren't buying 😂

  • +2

Racist behaviour should never be tolerated.

  • +2

Will not support these racists any longer. Used to like their snack range.

    • +3

I am sure they will miss you. Wait a second I can hear them screaming for you to come back
