RAVPower Wall Charger USB C PD 45W $35.16 | 65W $47.96 Delivered @ Sobre eBay

Saw how quick the Nintendo Switch AC Adapter deal expired and honestly, it is very limited in terms of the profile it provides.

I went through some of the other deals for AC Adapter and found that Sobre Store is part of eBay 20% off coupon!

Both of the following will charge a Nintendo Switch docked. I'm basing this on comments in previous deals where original adapter provides 15V/2.6A and these will do 15V/3A.

Thanks OP. Bought the 65W which will free up 3 power adapters for me.

  • Why aren't these models on RavPower website? Plus the photos on Sobre ebay are a bit 'blury'. Call me suspicious…

    • I was wondering this too

    • Not too sure why, could be different market

      45W model is RP-PC081
      65W model is RP-PC082

      • "could be different market". Precisely.

        • +1

Different market as in the US website might not have products sold in Oceania/Asia Pacific

They come up if you search the model from user manual

          https://www.ravpower.com/pages/user-manual

          • @CodeXD: There it is. I stand corrected. Thank you.

          • @CodeXD: Thought about posting and buying myself but there is no info on these online. If you use the user manual link to get the "user manual" for the 65W at least (i've not tried the 45W yet), clicking on the download link for the manual only returns a low res jpg image of the charger. The eBay listing text and images contradict each other multiple times too which doesn't give me much confidence in Sobre as a store or RavPower as a manufacturer. Worst case it's a plus item so plus users should be able to get free no questions asked returns if it goes to hell but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle.

Would love to hear from anyone that has one already about their experiences.

  • OP, I have tried to contact support via website and ozbargain multiple times regarding an item with no luck.

      With Sobre Store?

I'm not affliated with the store but you should be able to contact them via the following (depending on where/how you purchased the item)

      eBay: https://www.ebay.com.au/usr/sobredz

      Website: https://sobre.com.au/pages/contact-us

Ozbargain rep: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/183637 (Not sure how often they check their ozb account)

      • My apologies, didn't see that posting from my mobile. Thanks!

    • I contacted them via their ebay page.
Asking if it came with a generic AU plug, they responded with "Thank you for your inquiry. This product comes with an AU plug adapter specially designed by Ravpower manufacture.
      Thanks"

  • Great work op

  • Which one will be compatible with 2018 MacBook Air?

  • Both of the following will charge a Nintendo Switch docked. I'm basing this on comments in previous deals where original adapter provides 15V/2.6A and these will do 15V/3A.

I would be careful recommending this. They will charge the Switch while docked, but I'm quite sure you won't be able to output a video to your TV while playing. That requires the official AC adapter. There is proprietary chip inside that identifies it as the original charger.

Do correct me if you've used a different adapter and gotten a signal though.

    • Like I've said, I'm basing it on comments in previous deals

i don't have time to go through all of those threads, since you linked to 10 pages of deals, which include power banks, wireless chargers, USB cables, Tefal Steamer, and even a Mega Drive Classic all on the first page.

Did those people claim you can output a picture to the TV while playing, or only that you can charge docked while not playing? A lot of adapters can do the latter.

Here you go, this link says anything with PD 15V/3A will work with dock

          • @CodeXD: I know you're only trying to help so I apologise for not being clear.

That list only tells you whether it will charge. It doesn't tell you whether the HDMI output to your TV will actually deliver a picture. Nintendo locked down the AC charger in order to make you use theirs if you want to play this thing on your TV while charging.

You can buy 3rd party docks and still get a picture. But you'll still need to use the original charger, unless someone has found one that works, which is possible — I have kept abreast of developments. Even if your charger has the correct volts, amps and power, the switch is looking for a chip inside the charger that identifies it as the original, and Nintendo's charger has not been cracked yet as far as I know (but again, I haven't kept up).

            • @lostn:

45W USB-C PD: Will power the Switch’s dock. As well as charge in handheld mode as fast as possible.

This sounds like it will provide HDMI output to TV…?

              ZMI PowerPack 20000 | Review
45W output, supports Switch dock and laptops

This also sounds like there is a powerbank that will support Switch dock

              • @CodeXD: ‘Sounds like’ is speculative, I think lostn wants confirmation of fact.

              • @CodeXD: it's not implied that "supports" means anything more than it can provide the required power.

It will power the dock, that's all we can take for certain from that. Whether you can play on TV while docked is not explicitly answered. The problem isn't the amount of power supplied. Many chargers can charge the switch. It just refuses to display an image to the TV with any charger I've tried except the Nintendo one. Other people have had the same experience.

                  • @CodeXD: I give up.

@lostn: Do you actually have a switch… or just asking about one?

I honestly don't know anyone who would buy a wall charger to ONLY charge the dock and not play on TV. That's like buying a laptop charger and only charging it when it is powered off, and you're asking people if it will charge when switched on. It is painfully obvious to switch users that when someone says "ravpower 65W PD wall charger to run a switch dock" that they mean to display image on TV.

                      I'm done.

                      • @CodeXD:

I don't think you've been following this at all. That or you've completely misunderstood what I've been repeatedly trying to say.

                        Here's what I'm actually asking.

That list only tells you whether it will charge. It doesn't tell you whether the HDMI output to your TV will actually deliver a picture.

What I am trying to do is the complete opposite of what you think I'm trying to do. All the testimony you're giving me is about it being able to charge the dock. No one has confirmed that you will actually be able to play on the TV with it, which is what I've been asking about all this time and you've yet to confirm. And now you somehow think I don't want to play on the TV and only want to charge it.

                        You seem very confused.

It is painfully obvious to switch users that when someone says "ravpower 65W PD wall charger to run a switch dock" that they mean to display image on TV.

No it is not obvious at all. He did not mention at all that he was playing it on the TV. For all we know, he plays it exclusively in handheld mode and only docks it to charge and it serves his purpose.

If all I wanted to know was that it can charge the dock and don't need anything more than that, this was something I already knew from the beginning and admitted already. I wouldn't have had to bother with this entire exchange, and that last comment you linked to already made it pretty clear you can do that. Why would you assume I still don't know you can charge the dock with it?

                        I'm done.

I think that's for the best. I'm losing too many neurons.
