pretty good considering its the same price as the toshiba at mln but higher specs… (including gigabit and a few other little things)

shame this product doesnt get the 50 dollar cash back deal from HP.

  • About $100 less?i think they are the same price at $399.ok.forget about my comment since you changed yours.have a nice day.

  • Screen resolution?

  • the offer has been there for a week just because it's red

  • any cash back bargain around? using American express, any thing from Lenovo..

Be careful of paying credit card with Centrecom, they want an arduous validation process where you fax them the back of your card, a written statement, and a bank/phone account statement. It's like they live in the early 90s. They even have the gall to charge you 2% surcharge after all that.

I did this last week with this exact computer, it shipped as promised but this does not exactly improve my view towards this company.

    • Hi Esq,

      What is the screen resolution?

      Cheers

    • Just ordered from the Frankston store. You can either do a direct deposit, or undertake the more arduous process of faxing them credit card details. Didn't get a surchage for direct deposit option.

  • Can any Lenovo user clarify whether Lenovo ThinkPads only accept Lenovo made/authorized batteries?

I am wondering whether this is another “cheap printer – expensive ink” situation.

    • Yes thats correct

      • How expensive are Lenovo authorised batteries?

Currently I get 6-cell generic batteries for Toshiba Satellite for $60-80.

Look it up on ebay , to compare

  • screen res will be the typical 1366x768

  • Will this support HD video playing (1920x1080)?

I know the screen resolution is lower than that, but will it be able to handle AVCHD and play HD video files without a lag?

    • Just bought 2 of them for family. Loaded XMBC on them and they play back even a 22g untouched 1080p bluray file perfectly without any stuttering on both the display and thru the HDMI to a Full HD Tv or projector. Just be reminded that even though you might be playing back 1080p source the notebook will only display and output at its highest display setting of 1366x768 although it does downscales on the fly without a hitch. If you want or need to output externally at 1080p you might want to pay a extra $100 for the next model up with a dedicated video card but for the money this notebook is unbeatable value for as long as the offer lasts.

  • Yeah this is the last gen ThinkPad 15, which is why Centrecom is getting rid of them because the current gen E520 is quite a bit better. However I don't think it would have any problem playing back full HD content with its HDMI output.
