  • This looks like a pretty good deal, do you have any RTX deals coming up soon?
I am more an Nvidia fan.

you can chang the GPu to whatever you want 5070 - $100 and 5070ti +$350

Are the VRMs enough on this motherboard for a 9800x3d?

    • +1

As many other prebuilts on Oz, MB is usually the cut corners part so it will work, but not ideal. This particular model is relatively new so you won't find much review about it, but you can search for other b650m prime models, I think they will use the same VRM.

      • For a 9800X3D it'll be ok, however the B850 version of this was reviewed recently by hardware unboxed and it's VRM isn't great so i'd assume this would be similar to the B850 unless they cut even more corners with the new chipset. Please keep in mind these boards advertise compatability with all CPU's and HUB show that this is not always the case when a more powerful power hungry CPU is paired with a low end board.

    • +1

Hey! Yeah with the 8+2+1 phase power will provide enough stability for power. Even with 9800X3D we've found it sitting around the 70-90w during gaming. The VRMs are similar in size to the previous B650M-A CSM and M.2 heatsink (Gen 5 compatible). Also has PCIe 5.0 x16 slot!

    • +1

Will be fine as long as you don't OC

  • +1

Yeah I think this is pretty solid, cost $200 more to spec up something about the same on PCP, none of the parts stand out as red flags.

Minor thoughts, CL30 would be nice on the ram, for anyone interested the kit "might" be able to be tuned lower, but not sure. The SSD doesn't have a dram cache I don't think so for the OS drive, might occassionally be slow(er) transferring larger files.

Otherwise yeah, great deal, I mean even with this it's a pretty solid deal.

Can you get some sources please?

        • +1

That's not the same CPU though?

          • +1

            @nereus:

The CPU swap to 9800X3D does not justify +$500

            • +4

@marshmall0w2: This board is PCIe 5.0 on the primary slot versus 4.0 and the quality of the components overall is better than the build you linked and it is a CPU upgrade. A $300-400 price difference would be more understandable.

A 7700 on AliExpress goes for $270-ish AUD and it's about a $400 increase to a 9800X3D on AliExpress ($670-ish). Add in B650E mobo, 100W higher PSU and similar quality components. It's a pretty fair sort of price, once add in labor and whatever else, it's about even.

I'm happy for you to disagree and it's your opinion. Personally, I am agnostic to either build, they both seem fair price and decent deals, I honestly cannot hate.

Standard comment full of shit from old mate.

        He just posted a source?

    • +10

I've seen you comment a fair bit on deals, you're quite funny

        • +10

I'm genuinely curious about your background in affiliate marketing, if you actually can DM me about beating the deals we post or everyone's, I'll hire you for our growing content team!

              @marshmall0w2: Delusions of grandeur…

            • @marshmall0w2:

who wants to see OzB return to its roots rather than for OzB enshittification of proliferating affiliate and covert marketers?

              womp womp

        • I hope you get kicked off the plane

          • -1

@TheBurgerKing: On the contrary, in real life, like with actual people, telling them they are being upsold to actually result in them giving me free food. Compare now to OzB's den of affiliate marketers on the other hand…

I have been actively looking for a PC and have seen no 9070xt deals under 2k

    • -8

How are u getting downvoted for something so easily checkable lmao

      There's a $300 diff between a 7700 and 9800x3d

      • +9

        Hey,

It will be a few things that make the cost difference as well. PSU, SSD, motherboard and delivery. Apart from the other parts which would be a relatively same cost, it will bump up the price regardless.

    • I know the 9800x3d makes this system feel imbalanced, but i actually think the 9800x3d makes this system more compelling as one day if a better gpu comes along at a decent price, you flip the 9070xt and the rest of the build is pretty solid.
for that reason id say i would prefer to buy the 9800xrd over the 7700.
I actually think this one isnt too bad, this one has good upgradeability potential, but would need to bump up the MoBo, shame the TUF isn't included in this price as the MoBo is the weakest point.

      • Yeah it has it's disadvantage and advantages, most likely the 9800X3D will age better than a 7700 much like the 5800X3D and 5700X3D aged better than the 5800X or 5700X. Is it worth the $400 extra? Probably not, probably better to pocket the $400 and put it towards the next upgrade.

Can you post a PC Part Picker Part and Price List?

  • This looks like a good deal. If I were to swap the GPU to a 5080 or 5090, what would you change aside from the PSU?

    • +1

psu is fine for 5080, 5090 will need a bump up to over 1000w

      • Thanks mate! Would you still change the motherboard? or that is already okay for either a 5080 or 5090 build?

        • id upgrade to the Tuf, i honestly don't think the default Mobo is good for anyone. if you can push a bit more the gigabyte has a significantly better VRM but more important if you are heading down the 9950x3d option.
Problem is costs start to build, then you question whether a 5080 prebuilt is better or building your own.
This 9800x3d and 5080 would be where i would be aiming https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/921740

  • I tried to change the specs to match the RTX5080 deal from Nebula PC for $3,188 (link below) and it would appear the Nebula pricing is better.

  • It seems like pretty good deal anyone recommend?
