Free Ascott Hotel Platinum Membership (New Accounts)

5480
AMEXPL

First post so please take it easy on me. There was a similar OzBargain post about this a few months ago (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/483889) where you could get free Gold status when you sign up for Ascott Star Rewards using an Amex referral link.

I recently found another link which will now give you free PLATINUM status plus 4,000 points when you sign up using code AMEXPL. Platinum is the highest status level, which usually requires a qualifying spend of over $AUD 10,000. Some Platinum benefits include (https://www.the-ascott.com/en/member/benefits.html):

  • Complimentary Room Upgrades
  • Complimentary Breakfast (in Europe)
  • Complimentary Airport Transfers (in the Middle East)
  • Priority Check-in/Check-Out

The code is embedded in the link, so there’s no need to enter the code. I believe this code will only work until the end of the year, and you will retain Platinum membership for 2 years from signing up with the link.

P.S. Most major hotel brands don’t recognise Ascott yet to status match, as it’s only a new program. However, currently Radisson will status match it to Silver tier, Wyndham will status match it to Gold tier and Best Western will status match it to Platinum tier.

    • No idea, not many hotels seem to match apart from Radisson.

Radisson upgraded my account to Gold Elite, used Best western Diamond select.

    • +1

Ha! They refused to do the same for me, wanted a PDF statement from BestWestern. What did you send them as a proof of status with BestWestern?

      • Sent screenshot of best western membership status.

        • Thanks for confirming scyther. Fingers crossed mine matches :)

        • +1

I sent the same, but they want a screenshot where Best Western has both first and last name with the membership status.

Whereas Best Western shows only first name.

          • +1

@verio: Strange they did accept mine. You can try sending them more screenshot to substantiate. go to profile and take the screenshot of your full name and address, that matches with Radisson.
            https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/rewards/profile-and-prefer…

            • @scyther: I'll do that just in case, now. Haven't got a reply back from the previous email yet but no doubt there's one poor smuck getting flooded with requests lol

              • +3

@Preet: True, All these hotel industries might be wondering with a sudden surge in requests. They are getting ozbargained, Ascott is to be blamed. :P

                • @scyther: It's fun, until everyone gets the deal cancelled. Most of people signing up won't or can't even want to actually use it, further improving odds of mass-disappointment

            • @scyther: Do radission have a form for status match or we have to send them an email

  • Anyone had experience in Las Vegas with matching status and what would they recommend?

    • +2

The Caesars group will status match Wyndham. I was able to chain Hilton Diamond to Wyndham Platinum to Caesars Platinum.

      • Excellent and thanks for the reply. Once you picked up the card in Vegas you were comped the resort fees, parking etc after you checked in?

        • +1

Sorry, it was Hilton Diamond to Wyndham Diamond to Caesars Diamond (better than Platinum), but I think you got it.

I didn't try parking, but had no issues approaching the Diamond desk and having them waive the resort fees.

The celebration dinner (a $100 voucher to be used in a Caesars restaurant) didn't show up on my account and I was told it would "take a few days" (I was matched only a day or two before I visited). Upon approaching the rewards desk a day or two later (when it still wasn't appearing in the account) the person - different to the first person - advised my ID hadn't been verified and that was why it wasn't showing up. After I mentioned I "wouldn't be back this year" and needed it now, they verified my ID on the spot and issued me the voucher. So if it doesn't show up, it's worth pushing the point.

Other than that, the status also helped with restaurant queue times - dropping a Gordon Ramsay restaurant queue from 50 minutes to 25 minutes.

          • @Rawr: Thanks for the additional information, appreciate you going into detail.

I've a trip coming up in Jan, so I need to get the dice rolling on this one!

          • @Rawr: In true OzB fashion I was able to secure the temporary Caesars Diamond status, book accommodation through their portal then price beat the room rate to get an even better deal!

Hoping to now get the show tickets and $100 meal credit once I've verified my ID in person on the property :)

  • Thanks OP

  • Thank you OP :D
    Nice first post!

  • "Your password should be 8 to 16 characters"

Also their activation email went straight to spam.

  • THanks OP. Signed up to Ascott and now waiting for status match on BW. Once confirmed, will try to match other chains.

  • Received a completely blank activation email…

  • have not receive confirmation email yet even spam=(

  • To the lucky ones who got matched to Wyndham Platinum. Is it just 3 months?
I think you can also try to match Choice Hotel Group here when you get Raddisson and Wyndham. Unsure if they will match Ascott.

  • Asked the online chat about how to locate my membership number and was told they don't have them. I asked about earning points when checking in or using a travel agent and was told "Only booking made directly through the Ascott website is eligible to earn points." and "Apologies but only online bookings are eligible to earn points."

  • Best Western - matched it quickly and easily
Radisson - sent a screenshot of my profile showing first/last name and also of the members home page showing status. Status matched to Gold.

  • Damn radisson wants pdf of my account. Where am I gonna get that

    • can you save your screenshot as a pdf?

      • No idea. I 'll try laterb

Becareful friend got caught out , yes other hotel are accepting the request to match Ascott, but when you go to that hotel example best western hotel , they are starting to cross match, with Ascott hotel chain, of any evidence of bookings using the platinum membership .

The word may have got out and the other hotels might find a way not to honour .

    • -1

because hundreds (1000s?) of idiots keep matching with no intention of using. I think they think their status is forever lol

      • +4

Yeah I have no idea why people bother with all this status matching, especially if they don't intend to use any of it.

When they do end up travelling, they may find that they are unable to take advantage of any status offers since the hotel scheme will already have their details.

I've got top tier status with one chain but I'm only going to bother status matching if I really do need it.

        • -3

half of them probably can't even afford these hotels haha.

          • @waterbottled: I wouldn't really say that. I used to have no real status and took advantage of free status, but I would always use that free status. I just have status now because I travel often for work.

I remember using that free Hertz President's Circle since I was planning to hire a car for 2 weeks in the USA. If I didn't need to hire a car, I would not have bothered taking up the offer just in case a similar offer popped up in the future when I actually needed to use it.

Got matched to Wyndham Diamond status!

The bad news is they require 14(!) nights of stay in the next three months to keep that level.

    • Impressive! But did you get it matched off Ascott, or did you match Ascott to Best Western, and then Best Western to Wyndham Diamond?

  • Thanks op!

  • Thanks!

  • anyone know if ascott matches with other hotel brands? ie, I'm titanium Marriott and I want Ascott to match it
