Tempting , has stainless steel inner bowl unlike most that are aluminium with non stick coating ……

    • +1

I got a Heller branded one with a stainless steel bowl on eBay for $80.

Haven't had any issues copying "Instant Pot" recipes with it. Only downside is that there's no switch/clip for releasing the pressure, you have to hold the button down yourself.

      • +1

Likewise. But having the extra 2l would be very useful.

        • The bigger the pot the longer it takes to pressurise.

    • The Philips all in one, the HD2237 version, comes with a ceramic non stick coating, you can get a stainless steel bowl for it separately.

yoghurt features on these types of instant pot machines are great! i make 2.5L a week and costs me around $3.50

    • +1

Whoa! How much yoghurt do you eat?

      • +3

i have around 300ml a day for work and my kids and partner would eat the rest. I reckon i make it around every 5 days or so
i do around 2 batches though as my mum wants some as well now lol

it actually might be close to 3L just thinking about the amount of ingredients i use

        • +1

That sounds like a great idea if your family eats it, actually.

Do you cook anything else in it? Dinners, etc? I find I'm often scrambling to arrange dinners for the family after work…

          • @tsukito: I'd like to know this too. After work/school scrambling for dinner is a nightmare in our house. A bit of planning and pre-cooking with this appliance might make all the difference.

            • +3

@GirlFriday: I dont have this one but the Phillips version which is still going strong. But the facebook pages i am on all rave about this brand and how good it is.
I mainly cook soups, rice, and yoghurt with mine but have done curries, ribs, used the slow cook option for stews. Not sure about it being super quick to make quick dinners as i class this to be like under an hour. It will make things like a decent soup / stock in an hour which can take hours to make or congee really quick. TBH i have not used any of the recipes that came with mine
For my quick family meals after work i usually just make rice, a quick simple soup like bok choi soup (not in the IP), some type stir fried veggies could be beans, brocolli or some asian green or a curry and a meat dish involving mince meat. Usually can get 3 dishes that we have with rice in around 30mins to an hour from scratch as long as my partner gets the rice done. Usually left over for the next day so 2 days worth of meals.

              • @SpendLess: Most people love what they've got if it works, and haven't ever used anything else that competes with it.

    • +1

      I do 6L every 10 days :)

    • Bloody expensive yogurt maker. I use an Easiyo - heaps in op shops for $2. Leave about 1 tbspn of natural yogurt in the bottom, add UHT milk from the cupboard, shake and put in Easiyo container with boiling water for about 5 hours. Don't need to heat and cool the milk as it is already denatured from the UHT process.

Good deal, cheaper than one of the other smaller models. It would be good to note that Instant Pot just came to the Australian market last week. I imagine the prices will fall to compete as a new comer. the AU url is https://instantpot.com.au/portfolio-item/duo-nova/

    • +2

Doubt it will drop. There are very few 8l pressure cookers in the au market. Amazon always do a deep discount on launch.

    • +3

      Finally!

These things are the bee's knees.

I understand there is also a newer version with a built in airfryer.

  • +2

Didn't realise Instant Pot had finally released an AU model. Wonder if this is noticeably better than the new Breville, that can be had for ~$150 on sale

  • Awesome deal, thanks OP!

  • Tempted but I already got a Tiger Rice cooker. not the same, but not enough bench space…

  • Very tempting, but my current pressure cooker is still working fine. Would be nice to know that all of those 'instant pot' recipes are actually accurate for me though instead of just trying and making adjustments.

    • I bought the IP on this deal because I'm sick of trying to translate internet pressure cooker recipes for my "Healthy Choice" cheapo pressure cooker. Looking forward to easier cooking.

Got this a couple of years back from Amazon UK before they were selling them here. Great unit. Look up 'pressure cooker cheesecake', you can thank me later.

(My only complaint is that it doesn't slow cook very well, I think it's a software issue, otherwise it's a great unit. :) )

  • When did they start selling it in Australia? Last year, it was not possible to get Instant Pot and the next best one was the Tefal Cook4me. The instant pot seems much better with the simple controls, stainless steel bowl and slow pressure release.

Edit: looks like comment before has answered my question

    • this week or last their website came online. There is an InstantPot FB group.

  • Nice deal!, thanks for sharing

6L is enough for dinner for 4 with left overs. 8L seems overkill. Any deals for 6L model?

  • No

    3L 189.00
    5.7L 269.00
    8L 199.00 (normally 299)

Is this a deal worthy of esteemed Ozbargainers if Amazon US has the same product for USD$90/AUD$131 and AU delivery? Happy to be corrected if wrong

    amazon.com/dp/B07R92QXNB?tag=camelsearches-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&language=en_US

    • +2

      It’s 110v.

    • +2

Just be aware US versions aren't 220/240V.

    • +1

Buying mains electrical stuff from the US is foolish due to requiring a transformer.

      • Unless you already have a whopping huge 110V transformer in your kitchen for your other devices, like me. But yes I agree, you can't compare 110V items in USA to 240V stuff here.

        • There a huge range of stuff that has power supplies capable of 110/240

          • @zanthius: Generally not kitchen appliances, though.

          • @zanthius: Not mains powered like this, there isn't

          • @zanthius: Nothing that uses full voltage and current for heating elements.

And whatever transformer you have it would need to handle 2400w peak. Yikes.

    • Honestly, I agree, it's a rip off. Plenty of other brands around.

  • +1

Been eyeing off one of these for the last year. Procrastinating over whether to pay ridiculous money for UK version (if ever in stock)… Thanks OP. Wife will be pleased.

  • +2

    No longer in stock

  • +2

    Says Currently Unavailable for me.

  • Nil buying options for 8L?

  • Confirming OOS - it is a great deal!

  • Damn. Bought a crockpot express xl which is about 7.6l earlier this year. You can make all the same recipes in it without adjustments according to forums, it was about $190 with an extended warranty for an extra 2 years which is a good deal. Unfortunetly it comes with a non stick pot so I wanted an instantpot but they had US voltage at the time.

  • I need to check Ozbargain more regularly. Would’ve been interested, I will keep an eye out for Instantpot discounts, thanks.

  • +2

If you don’t need the huge 8 liter capacity, the 6 liter Philips HD2178/72 “Premium” all in one cooker is pretty good too. Costco have them on sale for $189.98 (down from $215), and they come with TWO inner pots, 1x stainless steel and 1x non stick.

I’ve been using one for over a year now and love it.

I would put this up as a separate post. If the middle one goes on sale I’m buying it.

    • Thanks. Will need to checkout Moorabbin DFO.

      • Just rang Moorabin they do have stock but they've been told to take down the 30% off pricing because they are low on stock and are selling these well. He said they will continue to sell them so I will keep an eye out for specials in the future.

        • seems corelle / pyrex and instant pot merged earlier this year …….maybe in the future we might see the instant pot at woolworths / big w as they also stock corelle and sell kitchen electricals.

  • nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i missed this!!! F***

    • +1

Keep an eye out, all three sizes have been discounted now and they are showing up at the Corelle outlet centres. I just got the 5.7l one delivered.

      • im after the 8litre only. never heard of Corelle outlets, im in WA

        • Ahh. They are in some of the DFO outlets, but it looks like they aren’t in WA. I’m sure if the discount occurs again it will be put up here.
